Why have you linked to joybuy?

    • Why have you linked to joybuy?

Perhaps joybuy is a store on jd.

Joybuy is the English front end for jd.

      • Appears to be their English language store. Can anyone confirm?

@whooah1979: unfortunately the only Italian I know is 'ciao' and 'spaghetti'. ☹️

        • @whooah1979:
Article explains that jd.com was previously restricted to Asian buyers, so they created joybuy.com for Europe and US

        • That's correct. Joybuy is the official global shopping site for JD.com. You can sign in to Joybuy with your JD login.

        • @newdad:that's all you.

Newdad in Rome -"excuse me, ciao spaghetti?"

    Citation, please?

You can't just proclaim something untrue.

If you are looking for a customer I can tell you I don't have money, but what I do have are a very particular set of skills. Skills I have acquired over a very long OzBargain career. Skills that make me a nightmare for people like you. If you speak the truth now that'll be the end of it.

  • Duplicated? https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/339548#comment-5241539

    Again.

    Before someone start whinging

No warranty (idc with that price point)
Quality (idc with that price point)
Brand reputation (Unless you are Chinese)
Shipment (According to JD customer service, it takes around 15 days to ship here. Well, maybe another 15 BUSINESS days to your door)

  • Does the free shipping only apply to their global website?
Cannot find any information about free shipping on their Chinese site.

    • The free shipping isn't a widely advertised deal it was only circulated on wechat to Chinese users but most definitely free shipping on the 11th and 12th. Limited tothe first 1000 orders though

*edit not sure about joybuy but definitely the global site

      • Yeah, I couldn't find any information on it either.

However, 1000 orders is nothing. It is very likely a majority of the orders will be from inside China which means free delivery in China.

I guess you have to either get really lucky or should I say, really really really lucky. Lots of people will jump in at midnight or whenever it starts. That's how it usually goes in China. Thus the probability of getting free shipping to Australia is close to zero.

        Statistically speaking.

You have tens of millions of orders on singles day on tmall/taobao. A majority of these are within the first hour of the event as many high tech items are sold and become quickly out of stock (only a set amount of stock is usually discounted for the event). You can buy at a higher price, but hey, that's not the point. lol.

        • Sorry guess I shouldve clarified the 1000 orders,it's exclusive to Australia so you can be sure about that. I made three orders on the 2nd of November the other day and my last order was still free shipping at 10pm

        • @nobby148:
This was because on 2nd of November the free shipping was not limited to the first 1000 AU orders. I tried on 3:01 am (Beijing time 12:01 am) but at that time the 1000 limit had been already reached. Then they changed their policy at about 12 pm Syd time saying that all Australian orders will be free of shipping fees.

        • @mofell: well I didn't know about that let's see never know some of us that are elucky just might be able to score it.

    • joybuy has much leass choices than jd.

      • Joybuy was newly launched they are still adding more products to the site dunno how long it will be though

        • I checked both of them. JD is very tricky compared to Taobao. For example, HIK Vision wifi cameras from JD, the same price as Taobao, but marked as "not shipping to oversea". When you search HIK cameras in Joybuy, nothing comes up. They are playing games for sure. At the end, somebody need to pay for the shipping. Taobao is charging 40Yuan per kg for express.

        • @bbtlovebbt: yeah I found lots of stuff that doesn't shop to Australia as well dunno why possibly exclusive to China but then again not everything from taobao ships to Australia as well (I had a look for the xiaoyi home camera 2 that doesn't ship to Australia)

        • @nobby148:
Taobo doesn't care where the stocks are heading. You register your address in Australia. Choose a official forwarder. Then they send items to the forwarder, and forwarder send to you - DHL, Toll, Australia Post. Selllers only see the forwarder's address instead of your actual address.

        • @bbtlovebbt: yes but then if you include forwarders as a form of shipping then that's not exactly a fair comparison imo. I direct from the site to Australia.

        • +1

          @nobby148:
Forwarders are officially appointed by Taobao. They get your address from Taobao, and you can combine different shipment to form one parcel. You can complain to Taobao or even request refund from Taobao. Forwarders typically charge you 40yuan per kg. That is even cheaper than local delivery. But forwarders refuse everything with battery.

        • @bbtlovebbt: that's nice to know. Never used taobao before so not sure how it works.

JingDong is largest Chinese Online Store ??
ar u sure is not taobao? Jack Ma is crying.

    • taobao

Tb is c2c, ab is b2b, ae is b2c/c2c and jd is b2c.

      • -4

don't bs me with the c2c or b2c, what he said was "JingDong is largest Chinese Online Store", not "JingDong is largest Chinese b2c Online Store" !!!

        • You wrote taobao, when what you should've said is tmall.

Tmall is based on taobao's platform and operates as b2c and the direct rival to jd's b2c platform.

        • -3

@whooah1979: Once again i dont c the magic words "JingDong is largest Chinese b2c Online Store", so unless u ar saying is taobao is not a "Chinese Online Store" or is not larger then JingDong, otherwise there is nothing wrong with what i said.
and plz stop bs me with the b2c, we talking about Chinese Online Store here, doesn't matter b2c or c2c they all "Chinese Online Store".

        • @samelight:

JingDong is largest Chinese b2c Online Store"

These seems to be some misunderstanding about what " JingDong, largest Chinese Online Store " means. Jd's ecommerce platform or online store (whatever term one likes to use) is the largest in china by volume, revenue and market share.

TaoBao on the other hand is only one of Alibaba's platforms. Taobao doesn't compete nor compare directly with jd's platform/online store. If we were to compare then taobao would David and jd the other bloke.

Now if we were to swap taobao with Alibaba and include all if its online stores then the result would be different. Jd would be considered David.

Tl;dr jd is the largest Chinese online store. While Alibaba with all its ecommerce platforms would be bigger then jd.

        • @whooah1979:
love the way ppl keep bs like this,

largest in china by volume, revenue and market share

TaoBao is one of Alibaba's platforms, so there is no way to compare the stock volume,
but in revenue and market share, just TaoBao this one particular platform itself could beats Jd.

with the revenue, u can google their financial statements, they both listed on the stock market they have to make that statement.
and im not talking about Alibaba's revenue, just find the taobao part and read!

for the market share, go check out the "2016 China Online Shopping Consumption Analysis" report, same as above just look at the Taobao part, not the whole Alibaba.

Lol, ya some shit started first.

        • @whooah1979: and ya. when u looked into it that means u ar doing the same things! and thats all u can do when someone throw the true into ur face! look into the pass look into who voted and keep digging something else so no one could remember ur bs

        • @samelight:

Please. I don't need to do that. The ozb community may vote one way or another.

        • @whooah1979: Please. u ar doing it! at least ur ar digging into it!

The ozb community may vote one way or another.

then why u do the digging on who voted? and why u care more about the votes then the statements and reports i throw into ur face?
ur argument should be on "largest in china by volume, revenue and market share",
u avoided becoz u know im right about it, thats why u start the digging and change the topic.

        • @samelight:

"largest in china by volume, revenue and market share",

what other criteria can one use to measure how big a online store is without using volume, revenue and market share?

        • @whooah1979:

what other criteria can one use to measure how big a online store is without using volume, revenue and market share?

          see that!
u still avoiding!! did i say anything about u cannot measure the revenue and market share?
in fact that i throw u 2 reports but all u concentrated was the "volume" cannot be measured .
i got 2 reports to support taobao ar larger in revenue and market share,
do u have anything to say otherwise?
or do u have anything to prove JB ar in a higher volume? if not then stfu dude!

        • @samelight:

but in revenue and market share, just TaoBao this one particular platform itself could beats Jd.

i'm not sure where you're getting this information from, but according to an article published on nasdaq.com by globenewswire tells a different story >
          http://www.nasdaq.com/press-release/jdcom-to-report-third-qu…

          BEIJING, Oct. 31, 2017 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — JD.com, Inc. (NASDAQ:JD), China's largest retailer,

          About JD.com, Inc.
JD.com is both the largest e-commerce company in China and the country's largest retailer by revenue.

        • @samelight:

do u have anything to say otherwise?

          http://www.nasdaq.com/press-release/chinese-companies-are-sh…

JD.com (NASDAQ:JD), the largest e-commerce company and largest retailer in China.

        • @whooah1979:
u kidding me right ? it saids

JD.com is both the largest e-commerce company in China and the country's largest retailer by revenue.

taobao is not a e-commerce company it just a platform itslef,u can't even call it a company and ofcoz its not a retailer too!
my question is ar we talking about the "largest e-commerce company" or "largest retailer" here??
          no !
we ar talking about the largest online store damn it !

and btw, ur stock link means nothing since alibaba's market volum ar 4 times higher then JD.

        • @samelight:

we ar talking about the largest online store damn it !

not the largest online store. it's the largest chinese online store. that rules out alibaba.com because it doesn't meet the criterion of being an online store.

        • @whooah1979:

not the largest online store. it's the largest chinese online store. that rules out alibaba.com because it doesn't meet the criterion of being an online store.

alibaba is not an online store becoz it do lots of other things but taobao is! that why i said taobao "store" not taobao retail or taobao e-commerce company.

        • @samelight:

ur stock link means nothing since alibaba's market volum ar 4 times higher then JD.

that could be true. but alibaba (baba) isn't what consumers would call a typical online store. one cannot browse, click, pay and have it delivered like say amazon, ebay or in this case jd.

lets remain in disagreement and let the ozb community decide.

        • @whooah1979:

that could be true. but alibaba (baba) isn't what consumers would call a typical online store. one cannot browse, click, pay and have it delivered like say amazon, ebay or in this case jd.

once again thats why i said taobao "store" not taobao retail or taobao e-commerce company.

      • Tb is c2c, ab is b2b, ae is b2c/c2c and jd is b2c.

ya they ar all online stores and we ar talking about online stores right ?!

    • JD is like Amazon, TB is like Ebay.

    Hi all,

I am a Chinese. I always buy from JD when visiting parents in China. Anything, from groceries to home appliance. It is a combination of Woolworths and Harvey Norman plus Bunnings. It is massive.

They deliver to your home address on the same day. Order in 10am, goods delivered at 2pm.

TMall or Taobao are the individual sellers open up shops. Therefore the quality is questionable due to the low creditability of the individuals.

For JD, itself is the biggest seller although there are individual sellers. The credit assessment for opening shops on JD is more thorough. If you are not sure about it, then as long as you buy from JD itself, you don’t need to worry about getting a fake item. It pretty much garantees for the goods.

PM if any questions, happy to help with anything.

    Thank you.

  • +1

Jingdong is a Chinese version Amazon which for their own running online stores they use their own logistics to do delivery.

On the other hand, taobao/Tmall is a Chinese version eBay, largely depending on third party logistics.

These two are major online shopping platforms people in China use on a daily basis.
