ASUS ROG Strix Z370-I Gaming LGA 1151 ITX + G.SKILL Ripjaws V 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR4 3000 AU$445 delivered NewEgg

150

OK, I have been on the lookout for a ITX gaming build and after seeing portard post this RAM I thought I better see what else NewEgg had.

Found and bought this:

G.SKILL Ripjaws V Series 16GB (2 x 8GB) 288-Pin DDR4 SDRAM DDR4 3000 Thanks portard! about AU$188 delivered
ASUS ROG Strix Z370-I Gaming LGA 1151 (300 Series) Intel Z370 HDMI SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.1 Mini ITX Intel Motherboard about $279 delivered.

Combine and you save another $20 delivery. So it was $446 delivered (to my neck of the woods).

Static Ice shows the ram for $235 pickup
and the Mobo for $339 pickup
total $574, NOT delivered.

I think it's worth the risk of having to ship it back for warranty. But it may not be for everyone.

Just an FYI - this is a Coffee Lake 8th generation board, you can't use Skylake 7th generation CPUs with this board.

Basically it's an awesome price for the board and memory, but you're probably going to have to sit on them for awhile waiting for the Coffee Lake chips to actually come back into stock. Intel has screwed up the launch of this generation of CPU, probably because Ryzen was giving them a bit of a panic.

Coffee Lake is amazing though, great performance… if you can get a chip.

Yeah, I am hoping the wait is not too long! I now have everything except the CPU. :-)

  • i was thinking of making the same purchase. was looking at other components to buy to save shipping cost but couldnt find anything else.

  • It this one of the ASUS boards that auto overclocks to make their boards look faster?

If overclocking, it is something to look out for and I know on one board at least it can be be disabled for fine tuning your overclocks.

Apparently though it has a 8700k at 5.0Ghz auto profile though, which seems great.
