      Beautiful Customers πŸ…πŸ…πŸ…πŸ…πŸ’πŸ’πŸ’πŸ’

      • Hi Rep. I purchassed this the last time and as we are not heavy coffee drinkers I only stated the fouth pack, the lucy dip, a flavour called LSD and it tastes awful. Anyway to return for Southern highlands or a normal flavour?

        • Hi, unfortunately can't return as it would not be viable for you due to postage cost and it's food consumable so we would only throw away anyway.
Coffees are subjective and brewing methods and barista techniques can also influence a lot. For this reason it's not common practise for us to exchange coffees but if you send funds through Paypal to [email protected] and leave a note I'll do my best to send an extra bag of something. Otherwise if already bought then please send email asap and I'll try to help but can't guarantee :)

  • Hi, it looks like it's charging shipping for the $35 deal if you choose the option with the $1 resealable bags.

    • +1

Ok I'll look into it :) Thanks

      • Looks like it's fixed. Thanks!

        • No worries and thanks for letting me know :)

      I found some Unicorn Spam!!

      http://www.thinkgeek.com/product/e5a7/

But due to the unknown cost of this meat I can't work out whether it's a good price or not! Just messing with you :)

On a serious note though over the last 5 years I have not upped price to regular customers even though our coffee prices transport and running costs have increased significantly.

Also if you were to look into the kinds of single origins we are sending you they are direct from farmers and people in the industry who are extremely passionate and helping and improving infastructure and support at origin.

I could just run cheap blending coffees that cost $5-6 per kg but as with cooking, farming and quality or raw ingredient is critical. That is why instead I'm running specialty single origins where I am securing them fresh even before even hitting Australia to guarantee quality and consistency and with full traceability. They are now often costing twice that price due to their quality and being able to perform well as single origins. We are more about passion for the industry, relationships and the love of coffee and standardas than financial gain and hope that people can understand why we can't reduce pricing further.

I will try to offer a more diverse deal leading upto Christmas with more smaller bags so that people can have some variety and gifts and we will continue to run at minimum cost that we can afford and still make enough profit to continue servicing our regular and loyal customers through Ozbargains :)

      • +2

sometimes you have to pay for quality, keep up the good work and please don't change!
There is an abundance of shitty coffee available.

      • Can confirm that prices has not changed for the last 5 years.

I only pretty much get coffee from mannabeans due to this (and for helping me out re: washed high altitude.)

        =D

  • How far out from roasting date would these bags be?

    • from previous orders i've made… days at most.

    • +3

      Not roasted yet :)

  • Would you have another of your Tea offers in the near future?

    • +2

Sure thing, Have a variety of teas :) I'll put something together tomorrow or Wednesday as a package deal with express shipping :) I'm sure there'll be others wanting for Christmas as well.

My mum visited recently from England and never drunk so much tea in my life. She was the epitome of the English stereotype "Tea scones and ham sandwiches" haha

Do you have any tea deal suggestions? ie variety or quantities etc?

  • Just in time - almost gone through my last purchase. If I can ask what's likely to be the lucky dip?

    • Good question, not sure as I just had a few pallets landed in last 2 days and have been really busy with our new Nitro system and working with the guys who's business it is to launch their new product :)

Also just refurbished an old Petroncini roaster to add to our collection :) so collected on Friday and looking to install and fabricate some chimney parts before Christmas :)

I have some nice Central Americans and Ethiopians in but the Ethiopians can be a bit polarizing. maybe a nice Honduras, El Salvador or I think there were some sweeter Colombians from the Narino region

If you're interested the check these guys out www.4co.com.au and here's a picture of it at our roastery :) I've been drinking a lot of nitro recently and coffee alchemy lol https://www.dropbox.com/s/haaplcf5x6w08ne/20171101_165657.jp…

Picture of roaster on Friday https://www.dropbox.com/s/ug9xsywss3494bq/20171103_121444.jp…

      • Interesting about the nitro - something new for me today! Is it much different than cold drip?

        • +2

Looks just like guinness as it retains the head and is silky smooth with the nitrogen. It also has some co2 which really brings out the sweetness and acidity.

The few existing Nitro systems that I've seen which pre-infuse the gasses into the coffee in kegs and the co2 makes the coffee stale and the Nitrogen leaves a nasty taste. These guys at 4co; unlike existing systems are using a more bio sustainable and organic bag and box system which introduces the gasses fresh when deploying through the tap. Result silky smooth guinness coffee.

I would say a good cold drip over ice can be much like drinking a whisky but without the fire and bite but very refined and delicate. The Nitro coffee is also delicate and refined but silky smooth and a very different but also similar experience at the same time. That's kinda an oxymoron and maybe I'm rambling too much lol. I think I'll go pour another one for myself!!

If you're over this way pop in I'll treat you to some coffee alchemy and Nitro for free :)

They're also running other coffee drinks through the systems and are very innovative in their approach. Not only limited to coffees but teas, fruit juices and sparkling water etc.

Love working with people like this that share our passion and very excited for them with the launch of their new product and systems!

  • JUST IN TIME!!! I sent an email to you/flora, but I'll just get this! =)

If you can have 2 of them washed it would be great! =)

    • Thanks mate no problem, will hook you up!!

  • which bean do you suggest for a fruit filter? Ethiopian?

    • Yes The Ethiopians in general are very fruity or florally. I have some amazing new Ethiopians just arrived but haven't unpacked yet so not up on website. Next day or 2 will be and will be around the $49.95 per kg price mark. The Ethiopia Areka we have up at the moment is a very good 91 piont coffee :)

You would benefit from a lighter roast for filter so I can perform a small batch roast to the perfect profile of the coffee for your brewing method id you ever need me too for standard webbsite listings. Just need to either leave notes upon checkout or shoot through an email if requesting specific roasting rquirements

Some of the new Ethiopians I've just received include

  • Also some nice Panama Geishas but they are getting up there in price!! I have a really fruity sweet El Salvador Supersonic I could roast for you as well at same price as above Ethiopians.

Also more on the grapefruit acidity or florally side and again very unique again in their own right you can get some great Kenyan's for pour over and cold drip etc.

I had an amazing Kenyan cold drip made by Alex and his team at Extraction Coffee in Springwood Brisbane with breakfast on Saturday past! For those of you that are local ie Brisbane I would highly recommend a trip over there! They are an extremely passionate team and have tremendous relationship with their customers with full commercial kitchen and amazing food and coffee :)

  • Whew - down to my last bag of Brazil SL. Will order, keep up the good work and the OzB offers.

  • I'm interested in trying out some of this coffee, but it will take me quite a while to get through that much coffee. How fresh do the beans keep in the bag?

    • +1

for optimal coffee, you need to consume the beans in a month of roast date. You can't really stop time to prevent this.
I actually notice a difference after a month in my extraction rates with the same coffee beans.
Best way to avoid stale beans is to drink more coffee (or order with a mate and split the cost, like i do).

1kg a month works well for me at home, given i drink coffee at work and out and about as well.

      • +5

:) Good advice. Yeah about a month and then it will start to decline into essentially non fresh (ie supermarket shelf) coffee

We have started to include a 1kg(or 2 x 480g offer for this reason. Some say that freezing an unopened bag works for them but I haven't tried myself.

Coming into summer you could always try cold brewing the extra for fresh iced coffees.
Grind coffee beans into large container
Add 4 parts water ie 1kg coffee to 4 litres water
cover and leave for 12-18 hours
Strain thoroughly (muslin cloth or filter etc)
You now have a coffee concentrate that can be put in the fridge and kept for a couple of weeks.

We dilute with fresh milk (about 3:1 milk to coffee concentrate ratio) and add sugar and bottle in beer bottles for a nice fresh roasted iced coffee.

        Sell to work colleagues haha
I buy milk with at least 10 days and they will always last us at least 10 days in fridge after bottling.

        • Sounds like a plan. Thanks!
How fine do you grind the beans for the cold coffee?

        • +1

+1 for answering queries and enriching us with the knowledge and taking us on the journey of coffee loving.

        • +1

@reg401: Can be any grind really. Most use plunger grind as it is easier to filter. I prefer to grind finer somewhere between plunger and espresso (slightly nearer to espresso than plunger. This is often the same grind I use for my Aeropress (really strong ;)

I find it gives a stronger concentrate which then in turn means you need to add less to the milk to get the required strength which means creamier cold brew as less diluted

        • @mannabeans:

          Thanks!

        • @knowwhat: Most welcome ;) Thanks for engaging with us and for your encouragement and +1 πŸ₯‡πŸ₯‡β˜•β˜•

      • Thanks!

  • Any chance of getting a deal for the Bom Jesus and Popayan together?
Happy to pay a bit more :)

    • You mean as a 2 x 480g deal for $35? Shouldn't be an issue but best way is to send funds through Paypal to [email protected] and "leave a note in Paypal" upon checkout. Very important!

That way more likely to get actioned. We always try to help where possible but can't guarantee. I don't see this being an issue though for either the 2 x 480 or 4 x 480g deal options as long as note is there :)

I think Paypal removed the option to leave a note with the standard Paypal buttons which is why you have to go to send funds option in Paypal and send to [email protected]

      • Thanks! Awesome service

      • paid through paypal but i'm not getting confirmation from you

  • I don't know much about coffee.
Has anybody here used Carte Noire (was available in Coles and Woolies. https://www.productreview.com.au/p/carte-noire-coffee.html)and Manna Beans? How they compare. Are they similar taste wise ?

    Miss you Carte Noire :(

    • +1

Would be quite different I think. The coffee scene is changing nowadays and they call it the 3rd wave :)

Lot's of fresh roasted coffee is being served and certainly tastes and previous coffee experiences and habits formed can be subjective(I know because my mum recently visited from England and I made her an espresso and she didn't believe it was coffee and said she had never had anything like it. It took me a bit of persuasion and meddling to get her to try new coffee experiences.

I would love to welcome you aboard and let you try fresh roasted coffee for yourself. Often if coffee is not fresh it can be roasted darker to hide the sins and be more bitter. This is often mistaken or translated as strength but actually isn't stronger as far as caffeine but has just had the sugars and acidity burnt off.

Raw ingredients(ie coffee plants and green coffee beans) farming practices and growing/weather conditions are critical, followed by the correct roasting practices and then to the correct brewing /baristaring techniques. Any of the above done incorrectly can massively effect the final cup. It is really the complete journey that is important :) This is why with such a large percentage of the world relying on this drink on a daily basis it is good practice for us as a roaster to educate and involve people more on the journey so we can help the farmers at origin to improve standards, prevent the spread of coffee plant diseases and over fertilization of land killing future coffee growing ability on the land etc. And assist in a constantly improving fairer and thriving coffee industry.

Australia is leading the way in this regard and many other countries now are following suit. When you think of the number of people in China and the majority drinking tea I believe there are a lot more of the new generation drinking more coffee :)

It's not fair for me to say that 1 thing is better than another as people make their own preferences and decisions but you will find that there are a lot of more unique flavours available to experience the more that you delve into the specialty coffee world.

Sorry for big ramble but just thought I'd share some info :)

  • +1

    Great beans. Extremely fast delivery.

    • The Manna Beans autonomous coffee drone is pretty quick :) Just kidding, thanx for your kind feedback!

  • +1

I usually buy beans locally (Yahava) but every order I've put in with mana beans for similar deals has resulted in fantastic coffee!

    • Thanks for feedback :) Glad you are enjoying!

  • How long does this lastt? Open and unopened where it still is fresh and tasty? Also I am not really a fruit person, these all seem to have added fruit tastes?

    • +1

They come in valved resealable bags and best kept in cool dark place. Will start roasting perhaps later tonight(so hot in the day lol) and tomorrow morning. They're at their freshest for the first 4 weeks and then will start to decline where the more unique flavour profiles sweetness and acidity will start to drop off until it is similar to supermarket coffee.

Can be drunk upto a year later but would technically be stale :) Better to buy less more regularly or share with a friend or drink more lol

Doesn't matter so much about opening bags if in bean form as long as you seal again. It is the heat air and light that causes oxidation and ages coffee quicker. ie if you grind coffee then there is more surface area exposed and probably only fresh in bag for 1 week. The more you open and close the quicker it ages.

Best to grind as you need! Fridge is not good either and bear in mind that coffee beans absorb smells etc. Old beans can be great for removing odours or air freshener in a car etc.

    • The Ethiopians I was talking about in a thread above were all fruity but the ones in this deal are great all rounders.

The Brazillian and Colombian have nice body and acidity and chocolatey flavours that people are more used to and widely accepted so as not to be too polarizing.

The lucky dip will also be a nice Central American that has wide appeal but the Rwandan will be a bit more interesting for some. It has a more unique flavour and acidity and quite juicy. Recommend for espresso but for some of the more Old School coffee drinkers it may be a Love or hate in the bunch(hopefully a love)

      • Great, thank you for all the info!

  • +2

Gotta be one of the hardest workin reps in OzBusiness I reckon!

    • I'm up roasting at the moment haha my time clock is messed up ;)

  • Did I read something that you're a church-run business? Or am I mistaken?

    • No not church run, but I am a Christian :)

  • Hi. Are these beans all roasted for espresso or would they be suitable for syphon?

    • better suited to milk and espresso but you can use siphon. In general a light roast is preferable for filter and siphon

  • This is too much coffee for me. I go through a 250g bag in about 2 weeks. So by the time I got through one bag of this the other would be stale.

    • I had the exact same problem so I found a friend to split the order and haven't looked back since.

  • Hi, are those filter roast?

    • No they'll be a medium - medium dark roast :)

  • Any suggestions for a grinder? I mainly use an aeropress at work and percolator at home however have been thinking of getting one of the Sunbeam models that pops up on this site fairly often. Haven’t seen a deal recently however.

    • Sure, for Aeropress and percolator the grind can be a little forgiving so you may find that the Sunbeams can do the job fairly well. Otherwise for a bit more money and for an espresso machine I would recommend a Breville Smart Grinder :)

      • Thanks for the suggestion. I’ve just had a search on OzBargain and Will buy the next time it hits $179~ again. Hopefully come to your site for the beans!

    • +1

Mmmm yeah I think that I have 2 which I bought at about that price when the 20% Ebay sale was on and combined with an additional discount lol. If you're local I may still have one in a box otherwise if I see one and remember I'll try to let you know :)

  • Hi Mannabeans,

Was wondering how long the promotion is running for. I've still got some coffee that'll take me roughly 1 week to go though. Any chance of of the offer being around till next week?

    • +1

No problem :) you'll be fine! Happy to hook you up in a week. Lots of coffee in stock!

    • Still with ordering now, if roasted today you normally want it to sit for a few days before using, so your weeks worth should see you through till the freshly roasted ones are ready to go (this is exactly what I did)

  • +1

Got mine coming! Can't wait, have heard many great things.

    • Welcome aboard :)

    • β˜•β˜•β˜•β˜•β˜•

  • I ordered last time, The Lucky dip and the colombian. I am not a coffee snob. But I find the $12 Aldi medium roast coffee beans taste so much better than the lucky dip. It was pretty bad.

    • +1

Sorry to hear you didn't enjoy. Fresh roasted coffee is a lot different to Aldi or supermarket coffee and can take a while for people to adjust to or learn how to apply the best brewing techniques to get the best result :)

Also different regions ad countries can be very unique and as we don't roast them all very dark like most supermarket coffees they will have a lot of flavour variance, more acidity and sugars and can be a quite different experience.

Obviously tastes are subjective and you may not always like all coffee but if you approach with an open mind and experiment a bit then I hope you'll find some you like. If you need advice on how to brew or perhaps how best to extract to suit your equipment then please let me know. Generally the Brazilian, Colombian, Honduras, Costa Rica and these sort of south and centrical American coffees can be a bit less polarising than others like Kenyan and Ethiopian etc. Also you'll probably find that you're more used to a dark roast which gives a more bitter kick through milk which is often interpreted as strength especially if sugar is added to counteract bitterness :)

Just in time. Bought 4, great value.

  • Any chance of getting either of those deals filter roasted?

    • Sorry but they are roasted to suit the majority so you would need to order through standard website listing if you need me to custom roast to suit filter profile :)

Normally these deals are medium to medium dark but if you ever place an order and either leave notes in Paypal of a specific preference or send an email then although we can't guarantee it we will always try to help we can.

Basically standard web purchases I will perform individual roast for you for filter but Ozbargain you can buy and send request for filter but you may or may not receive it.

  • +1

Thanks I got 4 bags to try I need a permanent supplier πŸ‘

    • Awesome, Hope you enjoy :)

  • Order arrived today thanks.. although one packet has a hole punched in it will this affect the freshness of the beans i ended up putting some tape over it :/

    • Sorry to hear it got damaged in transit. Please shoot through an email and I'll ask my team to look into it for you :)

      • Yeh the aus post package seemed ok though.. not a big deal just hoping it doesn't ruin the beans as I wont be using them right away.

  • Could I buy them now and maybe have them delivered maybe in a month or so?

I have just bought two big bags of coffee and need to drink my way through them first.

    • We usually have some kind of deal running so you would be better ordering when you need rather than in advance. That way the coffee will be fresh roasted :)
You can keep an eye on our current deals on our Ozbargain rep page :) https://www.ozbargain.com.au/deals/mannabeans.com.au

I have tried the Colombian Popayan Reserve and Brazil Santa Lucia and wonder what other peoples impression was? I was not impressed, they were very light flavoured, acidic and missed a lot of notes. I also brought them over to a friends place (who is a barista) and he agreed. We tried it on Aeropress, french press and his fancy machine. Just wondering if we just had bad luck with this batch, Havent tried the other 2 yet

    • I agree, I have only tried the Colombian so far.. but it seems very lightly flavoured and acidic like you said. maybe just not what im used to drinking

      • @Crazy94boy what do you normally drink? :)

    • You may find that the coffees benefit from few more days to degas :) Normally 5-7 after roasting they will start to perform better.

As we have been roasting and shipping same day in most cases due to the deal popularity it may be less than 24hrs after roasting until when you received. Some Ethiopians for example I find best after 14 days but general rule of thumb minimum 5 days and peaking between 7-10 days.

If drinking as Aeropress and french press then generally a lighter more acidic roast is preferable as they produce more of a longer extraction and need higher acidity to shine through. Are you drinking black or with milk?

Espresso tends to be a bit darker to burn off some acidity which is a trade off for sugar but too much acidity in a concentrated shot can translate as sourness in the mouth.

Acidity is generally considered an important and good aspect to fresh roasted coffee but depends on how you are drinking and certainly allowing time for coffee to develop after roasting is important.

The Brazilian is quite an expensive microlot and both these coffees should be quite good all rounders. Hope this helps :)

      • Thanks.I received them on 1 Nov so you would think that they degassed sufficiently. I am an espresso drinker and find it indeed sour/acidic. I also brought them along when I picked up some new beans at my local place and had them made two espressos of both beans. They said the acidic levels were too high as well.

Anyway like you said, everyone's taste is different.

        • Sure no problem. We roast to order for standard website purchases so can roast to any desired profile on demand if ordered this way but can't meet everyone's exact roast preference for the Ozbargain deals as they are roasted in bigger batches. We have to aim for the majority which is predominantly milk based.

That being said I don't mind a decent acidity in my espresso and found when I pulled a Panama geisha last week that was much lighter than what we sent out (filter roast) that if using a bit less coffee when you extract your shot or by pulling a ristretto shot (first 15secs) instead of full extraction then you may find it knocks off a bit of the acidity :) making it more enjoyable for you.

I could still get an amazing espresso shot from the light roasted geisha this way.
Otherwise a last resort you could cold brew it for an iced coffee on a hot day. Lasts a few weeks fresh in the fridge.

Surprised you say it was too acidic for an Aeropress or plunger though as often high acidity is needed for a longer extraction to cut through and due to the dilution a light roast is preferable. We wouldn't normally send out anything lighter than a medium roast unless requested for Ozbargain deals so definitely shouldn't have been too light for these brewing methods against industry standards)unless a rogue batch got out somehow but unlikely if you're saying it's across 2 different coffees.

I will check with my staff though in case there was some kind of packing error I'm unaware of as.

That being said coffee is subjective so perhaps you're more used to a darker roast in general.

You're welcome to leave notes upon purchase of Ozbargain deals or send an email if after a specific profile(ie espresso roast) and we try to help out the best we can if possible.
Otherwise purchasing through standard website so it can be individually small batch roasted to your exact requirement would be a better option.

  • -1

Like I said, I used the aeropress and a proper machine (the EM7100). My local roaster uses a commercial machine. In addition, like I said a handful people (including baristas and roasters) agreed that the acidic levels are too high for espresso/ristretto. I am not confident ordering a new batch as I am not convinced it is just our taste buts. I know 60 for 2kg isn't much but I still have certain expectations

  • Hey Rep,
Can I get this deal if i drop by Archerfield today?
    Just realised I'm almost out coffee… :-S

    • Pickup is never a problem :)

  • Hello
I have been enjoying Manna coffee (deal or not) for almost two years now. Thanks
But I am a bit annoyed that we have to buy what's on offer -all different coffee.
Why not offer say 4 x 480 g bags of Jamocha which I prefer to any other single origin or blend.
Can you do something about this please?
Thanks again for great coffee and deals

    • Appreciate your long time service ;) I understand there are specific favourites that individuals have and we try our best to accommodate the requests if you either send funds through Paypal to [email protected] so that it allows you to leave notes to that effect or shoot through an email to the same address.

We can't always guarantee to meet these demands it as there are a lot of customers and everyone has different favourites. That is why we sell all coffees fresh roasted to order in individual small batch roasts on our website so that people can have specific coffees roasted on demand to exact brewing preferences.

Outside of this if wanting cheaper Ozbargain deal pricing then the coffees need to be roasted in bigger batches to make them viable so we offer different varieties to try to accommodate the majority. If requests are made and we have roasted we will always try to help (usually always have Jamocha roasted) however if it's mot possible then you would just receive the deals as listed.

Outside of this standard website orders can be placed to guarantee coffee choices :) Have a great week and glad to gear that you are enjoying the coffee and appreciate your ongoing support

  • Hi manna beans,

Just a feedback. I managed to let the Brazil Bom Jesus degas for around 4 days as per your advice on top and everybody in the office loved it. I just spent around half an hour to 45 minutes making coffee for the whole team with some asking for seconds.

Previously, not a fan of the lucky dip, but maybe it got stale as it's the last one in the batch we finished. Southern Mountain is probably my favourite for light drinking.

    Regards,

Hello Manna Beans Rep. It appears there is no active offer on OzBargain at the moment. Will you be putting one up soon?

Also, it appears the link to this offer is still valid. Can I purchase this offer?

Many thanks. Always have been a fan.
