Can't find nutrition stats in a lazy google, but the tub says 25 g protein : 50 g carbs, so this is wrong.

        Per serve

Correct. Which makes it impossible that it's 72% protein by weight :v

Image says 25g protein, 50g carb and 25 servings. 2.27kg tub means each serving is 90g. That means each serving has 25g protein, 50g card and about 15g of filler (i.e. fat, sugars).

Protein content is more like 25/90 = 27.7% => 0.63kg of the 2.27kg is protein which costs $20, so about $32/kg protein. Then again… this is mass gainer so :\

      • You were wrong the first time with $72 and then again the second time with $36. Lucky that you saw my answer $32 and finally figured it out.

        • Yup got confused for a bit there.. :)

    • Whoops my bad.

  • The packaging is showing 2.27 kg not 2.7 kg. That's 27.5% protein content. $32/kg protein.

    • So that means the carbohydrates are $0.00/kg then if you state they have no value? That's a bargain!

      • I never said that carbs are $0/kg. It was meant to be a reply to the first comment. The $32/kg protein is taking into account the total quantity of protein. It is a protein weight gainer after all so protein is the most valuable and important ingredient to be calculated. If you were buying a gold bullion bar would you calculate the price for other metals or would you only care about how much gold is in the bar?

If on the other hand you were looking to buy a carbs weight gainer and found a product advertised as carbs weight gainer then you should absolutely disregard protein and other ingredients and calculate for the price/kg carb

        • Weight gainers are usually between 3-4g of carbs per gram of protein, whey (way) more than standard whey isolate and concentrate. So comparing the value of the protein isn't addressing the entire composition of the product - which is what I was getting at with the other comment. Gainers you'd be better looking at the $/calorie then looking at the quality of the product, and probably worth looking at what you said as well I guess. I think just referencing the protein isn't comparing apples with apples compared to isolates and concentrates (especially if you are trying to cut).

        • Most weight gainers are usually advertised as protein powder weight gainer including this. If you want to have the best value in terms of $/calorie then look for products with pure carbs as carbs powder is a lot cheaper than whey protein powder. In saying that this product isn't for you since it contains whey protein. You're much better off buying a pure carb whey gainer without whey protein to save money.

However, most people don't just want to only put on weight using carbs since it doesn't contribute much to muscle tissue repair in comparison to protein. The point of taking this is to build muscle mass. If your only goal is to put on weight regardless then just consume a whole bunch of carbs and you'll increase your body fat %.

If you were going to a buffet wouldn't you rather fill your stomach with the most expensive items like oysters, lobster tails first rather than white bread and salads? Of course you would still have a little carbs but it'll mostly comprise of seafood and expensive meat cuts. Most people would judge the price of a buffet based on the quantity and quality of the most expensive food items rather than something like bread, rice and salads.

  • Any deals on a non-gainer?

    • +1

Unfortunately not at Chadstone - only mass gainers there. I can't confirm if this is available at other Chemist Warehouses

      • OK - thanks Matty

  • Whoops 2.27. Have updated the headline. It's a mass gainer and not a lean WPI/WPC. Great if you need those extra calories to pack the weight on. I used to hit 3x ~1300 calorie shakes when I was in my bulking phase last winter. A great supplement if this is your goal.

  • Couldn't find it online at Chemist Warehouse- can anyone confirm if this is all Chemist Warehouse?

    • Just went Redcliffe CW and they did not have it?
