They look terrible, but free is free..

    • -6

But they are not free you have to pay postage which it's not mentioned how much that is.

      • +2

I just got free postage to Adelaide so not sure what you're on about…

        • Really?
That's what the site says, so I assume no free shipping.
I guess because they are only $2 aliexpress watches they could be completely free to gather contact detail/customer lists.

        • @PVA: Try just adding to cart and checking out. Should come up as $0 for shipping and skip entering any card details.

    • +5

      More landfill

    • +1

This is probably the sort of watch where the time is "time to set the time again".

    • +3

      It’s free. No complaints.

      • Edit delete

  • +3

Thanks OP, doubt it'll be honoured but if it is then it's a decent free watch. Used fake details with my PO BOX just in case.

    • +4

Yep, I used a fake name and address just in case.

      • +4

Hold on a bit, it'll come to them…

    • +5

Be doubly sure - use a fake PO box.

      • +3

That'll make me doubly sure I don't get a watch either

  • +3

suspicious website detected by trend micro..

    • +17

      no contact details
      no address
      no phone
      no email
      no ABN
      =yes SCAM

      • +1

jv, we get it, you're voting no.

      • Agree, no company details, scammy.

        • +1

          Yet jv hasn’t negged.

  • +1

The site says free shipping only when you spend a certain amount.

    • +3

Order the free watches and checkout, standard shipping is free. Do what others have suggested, use a PO Box and you don’t have to put in your real name etc.. can check out without signing in or up

  • +4

Looks like they're harvesting personal info…

    • +1

      See my comment above

      • +4

What are the contact details for this company?

        Nothing listed on the website.

        • +1

          I noticed that. Pretty shady.

    • +6

Looks like they're harvesting personal info…

    • +1

Just found this post so maybe they are legitimate and this is an error.

  • +1

Showing: Only 65 items left in stock now.

Dodgy as, after 600+ clicks these would have been long gone!

    • +1

      Still 65 left! Have a plus-vote.

  • +1

    Possible data mining or scam

    Secretly orders two free watches….

  • free shipping for me in south east melbourne

  • +4

whois privacy on domain. Creation Date: 2017-10-14. yes, is scam

  • +8

-NEGGING this deal sorry. There's so much wrong with the vendor.

    Harvesting info.

    • +1

      Gotta love this scam:

      • Witheld domain registration info
      • No operation details/ID
      • Anonymous non-commercial SSL
      • No promise of riches
      • No offer of eternal love
      • No pr0n

Just the cheapest POS they could find a jpg of the cheapest watch.

      BUT, what a return!

Qualified PI from delivery usually includes:
      - Confirmed addresses
      - Confirmed given and surnames
      - Confirmed email
      - Confirmed phone
      - Who knows what else (I couldn't bear to look)

      Def a pro harvesting operation:
Domain and SSL registered on the same day, barely 3 weeks ago. No doubt a free Shopify account that has been designed to collect orders and cash for as long as it can…

Smacks of an automated deployment too, no doubt they duplicate this setup for every product jpeg they can…

      • Too right.

        • +1

Not to mention the setup is entirely free.

Scripted with minimal human intervention. Shopify is really the only service that can begin to find these guys.

And all that juicy metadata; connection related data, IP address. etc. not to mention anything they can harvest from cookie info, browser vulns, etc.

        • +1

          @zerovelocity: infosec pro?

        • +1

@malouphix: Been doing it all my life.

          (I'm 9 years old, btw)

        • +3

@zerovelocity: Very nice, I'm trying to get into it…

          9-year old, wow, congrats.

    • +1

      I agree with you.

  • +2

This is deffs a scam, they're gonna harvest your info and you wont get your watches. Happens to all these free watch companies

  • Anytjing you can do if you have already entered your details on the site? Guess expect spam now?

    • No, now they will relate the data you have provided with data collected in from both legally and illegally accessed systems, systems left open, PII that has been breached and distributed… the point for these guys is to keep your (or rather, their) data up to date and to fill out the set until it becomes valuable to scammers who they can sell it to who will actually target you.

The scammers may be operated by organised crime, nation states, security services, corporations looking to market to you, etc. the list of uses right down to organisations like charities buying subsets of this data is endless.

      • +2

ohh god what have i done :S

  • used a fake name and fake address, i wonder if ill get them

    • +17

fake address? 100% sure youre not getting them

    • +1

Use the PM's name and address, law enforcement may follow up the suspect package.

      Use a VPN!

    • +2

The Dear Leader will appreciate your tribute.

  • +3

Looks sus as, but meh, no card details provided!

    • +1

yup me neither… work address and my spam mail box (hotmail address) so they can do as they want with it… lolll

  • +2

Just ordered and now regretting after reading all these comments :S.

Is there a way i can revert?

    • +4

      Buy a DeLorean.

    • +1

Same here. Need an undo button.

  • +1

UGH gave my info away to them, anyway to take it back?

    • +4

No, ur 0wned, fair and square.

      • +4

        thanks for helping me out

        • +1

It's a bad, bad world out there. V important to take care on the Internets.

  • my mate has a online business selling battery chargers. and told me that the email list that he has when customers sign up are worth alot of money.

  • Obvious scam and not worth giving my data away for free even with those crappy watches.

  • Even if this isn't a detail harvesting scam, it'll be a very cheap product. There's a detailed breakdown of a similar offer here:

    https://www.topic.com/there-s-no-such-thing-as-a-free-watch

Just avoid or head to Aliexpress instead.

  • This is meant to be a watch shop. They have a grand total of 10 different designs for sale. The website has red flags galore.

  • +1

    Got 2. Will see :)

  • No information about the selling, fake or scam.

  • Playing devil's advocate here but there is a slim chance they are a new company looking to spread the word about themselves by providing free watches?

Its also possible they are a company who saves costs by using non commercial ssl, and anon domain details come standard in a lot of hosting packages.

Also if your were running a time limited scam, why would you have such low quantities? (85 according to op)

I'll admit its suss, but it's not automatically malicious

    • +6

not sure we're living in the same world here

    • +1

Their facebook ad (linked above) says "Free watches, you only pay postage" so it might be an error, and the actual 'scam' is selling $1.00 AliExpress watches and make money off inflated postage.

  • Ordered and will see what will happen

    • Same, what's the worst that could happen.

      • +3

SOMEONE KNOWS YOUR ADDRESS NOW! THEY MIGHT POST YOU A BOMB! THIS IS HOW THE TERRORISTS WIN!

      • +8

what's the worst that could happen.

        You could get the watches.

        • +1

          You could get the watchstraps.
          FIFY.

        • +2

          Too cruel.

    • +1

yup .. same.. will post here (if im not kidnapped from my work address) :)

  • +1

    From the order page

If you have any questions, reply to this email or contact us at [email protected]

Would like to invite them here to answer any questions

  • +2

I hope nobody actually gave them any real information. Negging to raise awareness. I cant believe almost 50 people voted positive on this obviously suspicious "deal".

  • +7

I just bought one and gave M.Turnbull's address :D

Edit: He has been scamming the whole nation for a while so why not return the favor :P

  • +1

Even their Facebook page just looks like spam

    https://www.facebook.com/Shopluxwatches-1410866949031064/

    • +1

Apparently those sites do deliver, is just weird that now postage is free (the posts say to cover postage).

  • +2

    Done some digging up
