  • Booked this last night - you also get "free wifi" when you book as a hhonors member through their website (though of course all hotels should give you wifi anyway, a complaint for another day…)

Worked out to be $10 cheaper than equivalent booking through hotels.com or booking.com (for Malaysia Nov 2017)

    • Although any savings are better than none, $10 is quite poor given the commission Hilton avoids paying to booking agents.

      • True, but $10 is $10. Plus the entire cost of the booking worked out to be $81 for one night (doubletree JB) which is a bit of a steal :)

  • Yep, seeing some reduced prices compared to previous bookings.

    no NZ :(

    • +1

There are NZ hotels included. Doubletree Wellington, Hilton Auckland, Lake Taupo etc

      • why i don't see them :(

        • Oh sorry , I didn't check into them individually . The sale rates should read "HONORS FLASHSALE RO" or "HONORS FLASHSALE BB" with breakfast. hope you find something..

Btw, for those wondering - Hilton Honors is free to join. Link: https://secure3.hilton.com/en/hh/customer/join/joinHHonors.h…

    No Hong Kong sadly. :(

  • "The requested rate is not available for 02 Jan 2018 - 06 Jan 2018 at Hilton Sukhumvit Bangkok." :(

I built up to Gold membership with these guys.

The benefits always make me laugh:
"Complimentary bottled water at select hotels"
"Complementary wifi" — but I can't use the super fast wifi, which is reserved for Diamond members.

And every time they talk to you, they remind you that "As a Gold member…" eg "As a Gold member, you and your guest get complementary coffee with your breakfast". "Since you're a Gold member, you can access the … area".

    It feels like brainwashing.

Gold is handed out like candy, so the 'benefits' aren't very good.

      • I've been there with a Diamond member as well. Same thing with the constant reinforcement "As a Diamond member…"

Diamond members just get first dibs on room upgrades and faster wifi.

        • Yep. I've been a diamond for 6 years now. But looks like they are starting to make it very easy to achieve diamond now too (eg post below by Real Bill Pullman got it for free).
Sometimes upgrades are harder to come by, the executive lounges are just full.
I personally am not staying loyal to Hilton anymore, although I still enjoy a number of their properties around the world.

Those are benefits? What a joke. $20/night budget hotels in Thailand and Vietnam offer all those “benefits” as standard.

Was thinking the same thing last time I was in Japan. All the hotels had these things, and didn't have to tell me how cool I am / brainwash me every time I interacted with them lol

  • Nice, just in time for the holidays.

Has anyone else been randomly upgraded in status? I got Gold through the Macquarie deal, and a couple of months ago they upgraded me to Diamond completely out of the blue. I haven't had a stay since January so no idea where that came from.

    • I would keep quiet and just enjoy if that happened to me, wouldn’t necessarily want to tip off Macquarie or Hilton :-)

    • Just keep quiet and reap the rewards! How long til your diamond status runs out?

      • I called to ask (wanted to make sure it would hold past a holiday planned for May) and they said April 2019, which seems… oddly generous. I get the feeling Hilton are pretty loose with their status though.

        • Nice one. Where are you going?

Diamonds best perks are guaranteed lounge access and space available upgrades. Diamond is much better than Gold, so enjoy :)

        • @jayz: Conrad Bali. Haven't tried it before, but with the 35% off it's ~$120 a night for my dates, which is good enough for me. We're in NZ later this month too, so I might try a couple of nights at Lake Taupo with the Amex deal.

        • @Real Bill Pullman:

$120 is an awesome deal. Conrad Bali actually has two 'areas', and if you're lucky you'll be upgraded to the suites. They also have 2 lounges. Have fun!

    • Is it because you spent $40k on your cc? Something like that anyway, I forgot the exact amount. You get upgraded to Diamond then.

      • There is something like that, but I wouldn't have come close to $40k. I'm putting a couple of hundred max on it in an average month - outside of the gold status and night certificate it's a pretty terrible points earner.

  • Is it just me or is Hilton Surfers Paradise not available at all, not even for standard rates? What's going on…

  • Can someone confirm that if I book and pay through the website that I will be entitle to the AMEX offer?

    • I think not…The AMEX offer says 'Excludes pre-paid online bookings and gift cards purchased online.'
'Payment must be settled upon checkout prior to 31/01/2018 in order to be eligible for the offer.'

    Sold out Sydney Nov 15

    • Checked the same thing ;)

  • Is Japan included I can't figure this out?

    • Japan isn't part of APAC (Asia Pacfic) :)

      • =(

        • +2

They often have sales for Japan/Korea/China around the same time, so keep an eye out :)

  • So we can double dip with the Amex offer? the Conrad Bangkok is looking good - especially executive club.

  • AMEX deal terms and conditions: "Excludes pre-paid online bookings and gift cards purchased online."

  • they have some blackout dates. i was trying to book Jan 15-17 in Sydney and it says rate not available

  • Nothing like the 50% off they use to do on this deal every year in the past… :( Good luck to those who save a bit from this though

  • Just tried. Came up as just over $4000 for Hilton Phuket for myself and the wife. But through Booking.com it was $3700~ for the exact same dates lol
