For benefit of others, here is my experience with the G1W-C and G1W-CB dashcams (the difference is the first has a silver ring on the lens and the second (CB) has a totally black lens mounting). I own one G1W-C and two G1W-CBs, the most recent a CB from gearbest. I mount one forward and one on the rear glass.

This dashcam is good value when it is working properly, especially at AUD28 delivered. However it is a lottery whether the device will work properly initially, or over time. I have had a G1W-C (which boots up with a blueskysea logo screen) for about 3 years and it continues to work well. On 1920x1080, number plates can be read well in daylight at modest distance. I have a G1W-CB which was ok initially, but developed irritating colour fringes in the video, which affected readability of details. I bought a G1W-CB from gearbest recently. It records noticeably fuzzy video, and number plates can only be read when quite closeup. gearbest gave me a USD15 credit and with other credits I have ordered another one from them for a small net price. Hopefully it will be ok, like my old G1W-C.

The dashcam attaches to the suction mount via a plastic ball point which clips into the plastic base of the dashcam. You need to be careful how you move the mount, or you can crack the flimsy plastic bottom of the dashcam.

It is rumoured there are "non-genuine" G1W-CBs around (whatever that means for such a product). My impression is that construction and quality control on these things is poor, but the basic design works.

I have found other gearbest products to be ok, and their customer service responsive.

So if you want to get started in dashcams, a G1W-CB is probably worth a try at AUD28 - but not much more, given the risks.

    • Thanks for the review. May try my luck

  • Looks as though the price is at $29.99 USD now

  • Please provide one more coupon. Thanks

  • This is an amazing price.

Don't know if anyone else experienced this, but the plastic near where the actual dashcam attaches to the mount on mine started cracking (may have been improper use, to be fair) but it's not something that I can easily repair and I instead opted for Viofo A119S.

Otherwise, as other people have suggested, it's pretty good for the price but it's not without its flaws/shrotcomings.

    Resetting date, intermittently turning off

  • So here is my experience..

I have an account that I ordered two of these cameras with, for me and a friend who will never buy from gearbest ever again.

They sent me an email asking me to answer some questions after I paid via PayPal.

I never received the email and when I went on there website to check my messages I had, a notification but no messages.

Now they have refunded me my money, and it's just ended up being a huge waste of time

Thanks gearbest for another quality experience…

  • wow ordered on the 9th and only now got an email that it's being shipped? but then again the kz earphones took like a month too.

    *******************************UNACCEPTABLE POOR QUALITY************************************

    I ordered 7 units of G1W-CB cameras.
All of them were blurred and out of focus videos.
They were set at 1080p and the front lens plastic protective film was removed.

I have compared the videos to a 5 year old G1W-C and the difference is very obvious.
Also in my opinion, it is much poorer than the example video posted in the GB Sales page:
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ySPs84M-x0M
Also note the the Youtube title for this video is G1W-C

This appears to be a batch manufacturing fault, not a one off single unit fault.
Is there anyone else finding this problem?

I have requested a refund - lets see how painful this process will be.
I'm sure the return postage will be a killer.

That's the Christmas gifts plans ditched!

    • Don't know why you're getting negged. Care to upload your videos so we can see? I haven't received mine yet.

Also in my opinion, it is much poorer than the example video posted in the GB Sales page:

Yeah they've obviously just pasted from the G1W-C description. But here's a sample video of the G1W-CB.

My camera has a similar problem. Almost completely out of focus.

      Hopefully GearBest is helpful

      • Ew! I still haven't received mine. Kinda dreading it now.

  • Just received mine but I cant attach the suction part to the camera. Am I doing something wrong?
