LG 24" Full HD IPS Gaming Monitor $198 @ JB Hi-FI

90

Just saw this while browsing the monitor section on JB, seems like a decent price for a 24" monitor.

Full specs can be found here: http://www.lg.com/au/it-monitors/lg-24MP59HT

A quick Google search provides pretty good reviews and ratings.

Looks good - no VESA compatibility though.

Its almost the end of 2017 and still monitors don't have DisplayPort :( My Asus 960GTX (2yr old card) has only 1 HDMI and 3 DP and would love to get a second monitor with a DP port. Seems a decent monitor as a primary monitor.

    • or run an adapter. ;)

Buy decent monitors then. Anything without DP in this day and age isn't worth buying.

      • Any advantage to have DP for gaming?

Doesn't really make a difference for this monitor, but for better gaming monitors Display port is needed for Nvidia G-Sync or AMD Freesync. Also display port supports higher refresh rates

        • @garethds:

          Thanks

In that mean I have to use nvidia card to use G-Sync and AMD card to use FreeSync?

Why is it considered a gaming monitor? 1080p with 75hz refresh rate. Seems pretty standard.

    • +5

      60hz is standard.

    • 75Hz and 1ms response time.

      • It's 5ms.

        • +2

Oh you're right its IPS, you can't get 1ms. They trick you by saying "1 ms Motion Blur Reduction"

        • @vee124: Exactly, I think only on Panel:TV we can expect 1 ms.

        • @Sowny: AFAIK no TV panel in existence has a response time of <10ms with 15-20ms being the average. High end computer panels are the only ones with 1ms response times.

        • @potplanty:

Funnily enough it's usually cheap monitors with 1ms since only TN and I think VA panels can a achieve 1ms. IPS is superior but cannot get to 1ms.

        • @vee124: Usually still the more expensive ones though. I've found the cheaper TN panels still average around 5ms.

    • It does have Freesync but doesn't specify what range.
