I got one of these and I think it splits the channels as well.. That or mine just started dying after next to no use.

I’m guessing if there’s no explicit mention of “stereo”, there’s a good chance one headphone output is the left channel, and the other the right channel…
Just gotta make sure your listening friend is sitting on the correct side of you in that case
I guess if you're using this to share music with a friend then you'd better set your iPhone to mono first.
This is great. Now I can let my friends with iPhone 7s listen to my music at the same time.

Why don't they make these STEREO instead of MONO? I would like to have one plugged into my headphones and the other plugged into my speakers so I don't have to change them out all the time.
What makes you think they are mono? There are in fact 4 connectors on the plug: tip, 2 rings, and sleeve. The additional ring is for the mic. Maybe your source is mono?

What i mean is this will splits the audio right? Otherwise it would need extra cables? My audio source is my laptop.
When they say split they actually mean share. Both outputs are wired in parallel to the input.
@greenpossum: Meaning you can't have two channels through the one outlet? That was my point can't have two devices hooked up permanently and get stereo.
@figarow: Why wouldn't you? It's just a Y cable where all 4 connections that go to A also go to B. It just connects 2 devices in parallel to the source.
@greenpossum: So it does work stereo through both outlets! I didn't know that and is the reason I never got one, thanks will get one now. So this means that two people can listen to music in stereo through headphones also? Or is it only 1 at a time?
@figarow: Assuming your source can handle the load of 2 devices, this is exactly the situation the cable is designed for.
Just a heads up for people purchasing through ZAPALS. When I applied the coupon code it didn't work but after hitting the apply button again it applied properly. This happened last time and I almost gave up so hit the button a few times might work eventually :)
