are these good? i want ozbargain buyers review…

lets not worry about the price. tell me if they are excellent or good or average quality to use as a main driver.

Price and battery life dont interest me.

I’ve got a pair, people hate, but I love them for what I use them for, if the Apple EarPods fit comfortably in your ears, then you’ll love these, I get 4 hour battery life and two recharges out of the case,

I mainly use them in my office at my desk, but also work flawlessly when I go for a run,

The other cool thing I love is how small they are in their case, I can put it in my pocket without having to carry them around

      • My only concern is loosing a pair while using it for running. How sturdy are they in staying in the ear while running?

        • +1

I've used them on a number of runs, from easy running, interval running and hills. Never had any issues with them falling out or even feeling like they would.

Must be something about the stem thing, as I always have earpods fall out of my right ear

Do you like the regular EarPods and their sound quality? Do they fit your ears without dropping?

If yes to both these are really good. If they don't fit then don't buy. They are really light and feels "free" - really convenient.

The wireless ear pods will be have poorer sound quality than the $30 wired earpods. See online reviews. But most music libraries from apple users are low quality MP3 so it does not matter anyway.

    • +1

You'll love the AirPods so long as you are already happy with the sound and fit of the wired EarPods. As long as you meet that criteria (which is most people) then apparently they are meant to be pretty damn amazing and one of the bonafide best things Apple have released in a while. imo the EarPod and AirPod sounds perfectly fine if you can get it to stay in your ear properly.

The BeatsX wireless earbuds use the same magic wireless technology (W1 chip), but have a short wire connecting the left or right earbud, and they have squishy noise isolating rubber ear tip things. However, the AirPods are made of hard plastic just like the EarPods (which is why they slip out of some people's ears). BeatsX is available in more colours too.

BeatsX seems to go for $177 at a bunch of places including at Officeworks, though for some reason the Apple website still lists the $199.95 launch price. Actually the reason seems to be because only Apple have the recently released silver and gold colours for BeatsX.

      • The Beats X was less than 130AUD from Nov 1 to Nov 13 in China with abundant stock. However not many people bought it because many other great earphones and headphones are also on sale with great prices.

        • Damn, I wish someone submitted that here. The BeatsX have Apples W1 chip, it’s basically the biggest reason to consider it. Comes with three months of Apple Music too.

    • I'd only really consider buying them if you specifically need the wireless function. Build quality is good, but they have a very average sound profile.

    • The isolation in this style of earphone is poor.

Do they sell them separately, say $99 a piece?

Dropped on your head as a child?

      • and deaf in one ear, perhaps?

    • Do you have only 1 ear?

    • +2

I don't believe you can use just one AirPod without owning the case. If you have damaged or lost one of the Airpods, Apple sells replacement ones for $99.

      • +2

That's what I meant if anyone has lost one of them, there must be way to replace it.

  • Just bought these for $218 at Officeworks yesterday! Do you think they will refund me the difference?

    • +3

Yes, go to a register with your receipt and it can be done. "Return change of mind" and the difference goes back via the same method of payment.

      Not anymore! :/

    • hope they restock

      • That was a good deal.

  • I got a pair 3 weeks ago and love them.

  • Worth getting if you are on Android?

    • They only work like normal bluetooth headphones in Android.

  • Do you think JB would price match? I have a $100 JB gift voucher which I haven't used in 7 months cos I'm waiting for these to drop in price

    • I don’t see why not. That said they refused to price match a game they don’t even stock anymore against EB games sale. They had it stickered at $89 and the game is like 3 years old.

  • +2

    $198 for buds? Holy moly!

  • I got a pair of these a week ago. I love them. The freedom from cables is awesome. The small battery case is very handy. The only downside I have noticed is they don’t work well for outdoor phone calls on a windy day. My main reason for buying was listening to music so I am more than happy.

  • Is the sound quality seriously no better than the wired buds, including isolation, as all have suggested here? A few reviews I’ve read have said otherwise.

  • +1

So I went to jbhifi Chadstone (Vic) and they price matched to 180! Woohoo!

    • +1

How did you get them to price match to $180? Could you take a photo of the receipt?

I showed them the ow web, they checked that it was a valid deal and said "I can do better than that! 180 is ok?…" Which I kindly agreed :)

        • +1

i will give it a try. thanks heaps :)

        • Thank you, used your receipt to price match here in ACT. Got them for $180 at JB too.

        • @javab0y: do you just show them the online screenshot of the receipt and they do price matching?

        • @vmnomad:
Yes that's what I did… he did query why the numbers were blanked out… but matched it anyway.

  • JB Hifi Indooroopilly price matched, so happy with that. The airpods are quite nice.

  • Brilliant. Ordered. How do these retailers outdo Apple themselves with these prices and offer free delivery?
