    wow !

    cheapest 1060 ever ?

    • -5

      That processor is shite though!

      • +16

        Do you mean the i5?

If so, I'd be interested to here why you think so. It's a HQ so you are getting a 'proper' quad core CPU. That, paired with the 6GB 1060 is a pretty good combo for 1080p gaming, especially at this price.

      • +5

Not at all a shite CPU for this machine. In fact it matches or slightly edges out a desktop i5-2500K in both single threaded and multithreaded performance. Minimal gains in quad core CPU's have been had even several generations after the 2500K. You can't tell me that is not enough to pair well with the GTX 1060 on a 1080p display. If this laptop was rocking a GTX 1080 then maybe you'd want something better but the CPU will still play any games at 1080p quite smoothly.

        • -1

In fact it matches or slightly edges out a desktop i5-2500K in both single threaded and multithreaded performance

          Maybe at stock lol

    • Cheapest 1060 laptop so far with good quantity.

IIRC ~6 months ago, Acer had a clearout sale, 1060 for ~$1.1k, but also 1070 for ~1.1k. It was crazy, but there were only 1 or 2 models of each in stock.

  • +4

Seems like they're trying to get rid of stock for the 8th gen coming soon.

    • I thought I read that the HQ variant gaming laptop CPU aren't due till much later in 2018?

      • I heard that the HQ variants will get AMD iGPU's, I'm not sure what will happen if they also have dedicated nvidia gpus tho.

  • +1

Pretty nice deal - well done OP

  • +1

Would like an option for a ram upgrade for a couple penny's more.

But hey, you get a fair bit of laptop for $1360~

    • Almost 100% that you are able to upgrade the RAM on your own on this machine easily. So if you ever find yourself needing to do that it won't be much of a hassle.

      • +2

Says in the description upgradable to 32gb

      • +2

after watching a video its actually only one screw - thats amazing for ease of upgrading really.

but more to the point, still a shame you couldn't just get it standard with 16gb

    • And what would you need the extra ram for ?? Just curious..

      • I'd use it for stock trading. Have about 20 Chrome tabs open, three added monitors running, trading programs open, charting packages open, OneNote and Excel open. I'm always hovering around 8gb. Sometimes get messages to close programs. So I'd need 16gb.

  • i brought the same 7577 model in the last ozbargain deal just two weeks ago for $1699 :( god that is some real BS right there haha

    • +1

You can try to price match and see if it works to get a refund.

    WTF…..Um under Dimensions:

    "DIMENSIONS:
    Height: 24.95mm (0.98") x Width: 389mm (15.32") x Depth: 274.7mm (10.82")
    Weight Starting @ 2.65 Kg (5.82 lb) w/NVIDIA® GTX 1050, 128 GB SSD, FHD non-touch"

But ebay says GTX 1060 and 256GB…why different specs?
    Edit: STARTING SPECS?

    • I saw that as well.
I think because on the dell website its customisable with graphics card, SSD, HDD, possibly touch?
So possibly the lightest combination is 1050, 128GB SSD

  • +2

How's this $200 cheaper than the Dell XPS 8920 desktop lol

  • Woah that lead Tim e

  • That was quick…… only picked up the 1050Ti version 3 months ago!

    • I returned mine for this reason

      • -1

As in you returned your 1060 version to rebuy it?

        • I return 1050ti one, after I heard they added 1060 and USB C support to newer ones

        • @Jimmy007: Ah understood.

        • @Jimmy007: surely the biggest thing was getting rid of that horrid screen. The tn pannel on the old ones was possibly the worst I had ever seen.

  • +2

Was looking at this a few days ago when it was on sale in the US. Came out to $1094 AUD then. I emailed dell to see if they could do the deal here- no response. :( Guess I'll have to bite on this. Thunderbolt 3 and gtx1060? Yes, love.

    • +3

You could get it shipped with MyUS?

      • Remember customs 10% charge over 1k and u want the local warranty for PCs really. Don't want to chance doa stuff.

  • +1

    Holy shit what a deal!

  • Great deal OP-
My only concern is that it ships from Malaysia so no 2yr warranty.

    • +6

Haha, they are located there but it’s an Australian store.

  • -1

Wait for Amazon launch/black Friday etc with possible cheaper price or you guys think this is as low as it goes?

    • -1

This probably as low as it goes, unless you wait a few more years and the price will probably only drop to about $1500…

      • How many years?

  • Great Deal OP, wondering if it contains GST for TRS?

    • Yes you can claim trs

    • TRS?

      • 10% refund for Tourist Refund Scheme.

  • Id buy if it was i7

    • For this price, you aren't going to get an i7HQ. You might get a i7U, but that has 2 less cores than the i5HQ anyway.

      • -1

        ThinkPads last month were i7.

        • But only 1050Ti

    • +1

Laptop i7's are often throttled anyway, heat up, and use more battery.

  • Is it possible to add a HDD for extra storage?

    • I'm pretty sure it has an extra hard drive bay.
EDIT: The i7 version has both SSD and HDD so yes you can

      • Definitely makes it more appealing in that case.

  • +1

The GPU is 1060 Max Q design which is slower 10-15% compared to normal 1060 laptop

    • For lower power consumption, leading to longer battery life, less heat generated and quieter cooling solutions.

      • +2

This laptop actually has a much smaller battery than its older brother.

        • -1

          So its lighter!

    • Apparently the Max Q version is cooler than the original 1060 which is strange because this project https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=Fu-2F09vAsA did not have that many fans.

    • Actually it does not make any sense advertising a product as gaming products, then dealing with the hardware, downgrade it (compared to similar desktop) to avoid thermal throttling and save power consumption. If it is a real gaming product i wanna a gaming product, not something 'geld'. That's my 5 cents..

      • +1

It does make sense, try thinking about it for a moment.

People game on smart phones, which often contain greatly powered downed CPUs and GPUs as to what is out there, but manufacturers promote gaming on the phones and lots of gaming takes place on smart phones.

These light weight notebooks are very capable 1080p gaming machines. For gaming, they are in between truly portable devices (smart phones) and full desktop PCs. Many people travel about and cannot utilize a full desktop and don't want to lug around a heavy laptop. This particular 1060 Max-Q version is more powerful than the mobile 1050 Ti by over 25% but consumes marginally less power, generates less heat and the cooling system produces less noise. I travel to work with a light weight notebook that has a 960m in it, I can game on it nicely, but it is still light weight and professional looking for my job, this 1060 Max-Q is a good step up from that.

  • Shipping & Payment says delivery time is "usually between 9-13 business days", but eBay's estimated delivery is between 6 Dec and 5 Jan.

anyone knows if Dell's estimate is reliable? I'll be flying overseas right after Christmas and would like to claim TRS.

    • +1

      same concern here

    • +2

I had a similar concern, and asked Dell via Ebay and got this response (with regards to if I'll get it before December 15):

I believe the longer estimated delivery time is eBay's estimation, taking into account the item being sent from overseas and the busy holiday season. We do our best to get items delivered as efficiently as possible, and we generally have an estimated 14-16 working day delivery time. Unfortunately we are not able to guarantee when the delivery will be, however, I believe there is a good chance that if ordered tomorrow, you should receive the item by the 15th of December.

Please note that with all orders there is a 3-4 working day processing time, and once the order has been processed by our Head Office, you will be able to track the progress of your order being built on the Dell website. When the item is due for delivery this order will be updated with an SCS number which you would be able to use to track the delivery with our courier Startrack.

17-20 working days total makes it pretty risky so I've decided to hold off.

  • +1

    Hi All

Been holding out to buy the best possible laptop for around this price. Should i continue to hold out until the black Friday or even boxing day sales. Or are the sales more hype than bargain and i should pull the pin on this

  • Created an account to say thanks, I've been lurking for a while and this looks like the best value for money.

  • damn ordered the 1050ti in a recent deal. Does the battery life decrease due to the better 1060 or are they comparable if not under load?

edit: saw that the 7567 has a 74Whr vs the 56Whr in this deal. Pretty significant difference so I think I'll stick with the 7567 :) While you get a better performance with this one for not much more, I think I would find the longer battery life for non-gaming use to have greater utility since I don't game as much (might change though given the juice!)

  • +1

    Ordered one, thanks for posting!

  • This or hold out for another deal similar to 7567 www.ozbargain.com.au/node/341510, would look to upgrade to 16gb ram and add hdd to this

    • not sure if it helps you but in my comment above, the deciding factor for me was battery life. the 7567 has 74Whr and the 7577 only has 56 so there is a material difference

      • The 56 is a new quick charge battery and up to 80% for an hr charge.

Id prefer a 74 battery for on the go juice though.

Pulled the trigger on this 1060 laptop.
Ticks all the boxes and stylish too.

    • You can get the same laptop as above except with 128GB SSD instead of 256GB for $1519.20 also at Dell eBay here.
Its actually the laptop I'm using and I'm very happy with it.
I would go for the 1060 version over this since its cheaper and better graphics card. The i7 is nice but not entirely necessary. Ram is easily upgradeable and HDD would be easy to install as well.

  • Isn't the display meant to be rubbish on the dell??

    • +1

I think they have changed to IPS display now which is better than the TN panels they used to use on these laptops.

  • Awww man this laptop looks good! Sent a messenge to Dell Ebay on confirming the GPU, delivery times & charges (GST or import charges as it is delivered from Malaysia). Here's the response

"The graphics card included with this machine is: NVIDIA® GeForce® GTX 1060 with NVIDIA® Max Q Design technology, 6GB GDDR5 video memory

All cost and charges are included with this machines. With all orders there is a 3-4 working day processing time followed by a 10-15 working day delivery time. "

    • How long did it take for a reply. I've been waiting over 24 hours

      • Me too, I think they reply on business days only.

        • Well I sent it on Friday morning and got a reply after lunch time.

  • Would this be good for video editing? with a 1060 and i5HQ I assume it would be doable? The IPS screen isn't too bad either?

  • Wife wants a laptop, I want a tower computer that can play games.

If I buy a 24" monitor, keyboard and mouse, can this do a good job of running games compared to a tower pc in the ~$1000 price range?

It would be casual gaming, mostly games like civilization but maybe some first person shooting games too.

    • +2

Its a pretty powerful machine. I'm using the older, GTX 1050 TI model and it runs Fallout 4 and Dishonored 2 great. I'm sure it can handle civilization, maybe not maxed out (I've never played this so no idea how demanding it is).

    • +2

This should handle most FPS games and Civ fine.

  • Anyone tried to hook up an Oculus rift to it? Read the forums that the 1050ti version doesn't work with Oculus but does for Vive. Wonder if this one has the same issue.

    • should be VR compatible, but given it is only a maxwell card and 1060, wouldn't recommend to play VR with this laptop.
This one got a VR score of 5.9, the average VR score for VR compatible machine is 6.0. (according to sources).
Still reckon it is still miles ahead of PSVR in terms of actual graphics

  • +1

Whats everyones experience like with the Dell laptop in home warranty service? Sounds really good if they're able to repair the laptop in home after remote troubleshooting/diagnostics :)

    • I think I splurged for the more premium Dell service with my last computer and they were incredible. Sent someone out to my house pretty rapidly.

      • Ah ok nice one. Were they able to fix the issue onsite or did the laptop had to be taken away or new parts shipped etc?

        • Onsite, they just replaced the laptop speaker with a new part. I'm not sure it actually was a hardware issue as the audio distortion issue has happened a few times since. But it was pretty minor.

        • @oscarmanutdfan: ok cool.

  • Thank Op, ordered 1. The AC adapter looks abit chunky, anyone know of a slimmer alternative?

    • +1

I'm pretty sure it needs to be that chunky considering the laptop's specs.

  • +1

Does anyone know what the 8gb memory stick in this actually is? e.g. brand, model etc
I'd definitely be needing to upgrade this to 16gb and add a 1-2tb hdd for my needs, still a very good price for a 1060 though!

    • Agreed, if anyone has recommendations on laptop RAM + SSD or HDD, would be much appreciated.

  • This machine is also available in red, too! I purchased one today - same specs & price:

    https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Dell-Inspiron-15-7000-Gaming-Cor…

Can someone tell me if the same laptop but with i7-7700HQ Quad Core, 16GB ram + + 1TB 5400RPM Hard Drive for discounted price of $1,999 (from $2,499) is a good deal? Essentially better CPU, more RAM and HDD on a 1060 gfx card… is it better to pay an extra $600 for it?

  • Just got the confirmation email.

    “Fingerprint Reader Not Included”

    Sad!

  • anyone got shipping notification?

    • Got one from eBay just now. Don't think I've got Dell's final invoice yet.

    • Just got local courier details tonight, hopefully delivered tomorrow. Ordered 21/11/17

    • Mine arrived today =)

  • Is this now AU $1,349.10 with the current %10 ebay promo applied?

    • It appears to be so.
