tbh at this price you're better off with the Bose QC35 II or the Sony WH1000XM2. I'm not sure there's still a reason to buy these.. maybe 'style'??

I'd say of the three, the Momentum 2.0 wins in terms of build quality and pure sound quality, with the Sony WH's coming in a close second. But if you're buying them primarily for Noise Cancelling, the Sonys win, and if you want the most comfortable, definitely the Bose.

I'd say overall the Sony's are the ones to get, but each has their strengths and weaknesses, and frankly it comes right down to the very most nitty-gritty of details, and personal preference. They're really all roughly on-par with each other.

Yea no..the sony headband cracking issues has resurfaced. Not worth the hassle.

        • Got a link? Because a google search threw up only a reddit post from two months ago from someone who seems to have an agenda, and whose "proof" has all been deleted from imgur and YouTube. And then the rest of the links are for the MDR-1000x, not the WH-1000xm2

        • @TheRealCJ: Agreed. And sony said they would repair/replace anyone who had the issue on the first version as well. Assume if this happened again they'd do the same.

        • @TheRealCJ: Yeah I've seen no real credible sources apart from that one person on Reddit.

From the above most put the Bose and Sony on par for NC. I'd say the Sony pulls ahead more on audio quality and features compared to the two (touch pad controls, audio codecs and the cupping feature to pause NC).

        • @TheRealCJ:
Probably would take a few months for it to show, if Sony did not correct the issue with the WH-1000XM2. I hope they did!

        • @Smigit:

Yeah, I'd agree with that. The QC does have a few features that are better than the Sony. The Google Assistant integration is a lot better than Sony's, and the ability to connect to two sound sources simultaneously is actually pretty nifty, especially if you're in an environment where you have to switch between phone calls and computer audio regularly.

Like I said, it really boils down to a few mostly-insignificant personal preferences. I chose the Sony personally because most of the reviews I've read put the noise cancelling a dB or two above the bose, and the inclusion of AptX is an important feature for me; if I had been given no choice but to get the QC35s, I'm sure I would've been just as happy with them.

        • @Sleepycat3:

Allegedly the reason the MDR-1000s were cracking in that spot was the lack of internal reinforcement behind the hinge, which Sony claim to have fixed. Time will tell, I suppose. Thank goodness for our robust consumer protection laws I suppose.

        • @TheRealCJ: Yeah both are great. I'm in the market now and leaning towards Bose because my priorities were different. I want the multi point bluetooth so that in an office I can swap between my personal phone and work laptop (to take voicemail). Also I found the Bose unmatched comfort wise.

Audio wise Sony seemed more thrilling but also a bit more in your face than the Bose. I think for audio I'd get Sony for on the go and Bose again felt like it might suit long sessions at my desk as its a tad more held back.

Have recommended my friends to check both but and one of them seemed to prefer the Sony's as well.

Wildcard will be the Bowers & Wilkins PX which are due in Australia this month I believe and have reviewed very well over seas. Apparently has better audio than Sony or Bose generally, but is also less comfortable for many.

        • @Smigit:

I'm curious why the Sennheiser PXC-550s seem to be overlooked in these Bose vs Sony debates.. the ANC might not be as good but they seem to have better SQ..?

        • @roadeh:

I dont think you can get pxc 550 cheaper than any of these headphones though

    • Apart from anc i think momentum is at least on par or even better than qc35 and sony. The material is definitely better with steel and real leather earcups.

  • Can I assume Wireless & wired over The Ear Momentum 2.0 sound the same?
