  • Is the US version compatible with our local Voltage? If so, this would work out cheaper.

The USA and Canada models require 120 V AC, 60 Hz and is not compatible with our 230 V AC, 50 Hz.
These models also have the additional Speakers Zone 2 terminals.

      • Thanks for clarifying

I am looking at an AV receiver presently and the Amazon US site has it for 398 USD or 526 AUD presently. It is showing eligible for Free shipping to Australia once I logged in.

    https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B06XKRWWSG

Almost bought but warranty issue is stopping me as it most probably will not be covered.
But 526 is a steal for this one!!!!
BHP has similar pricing but adds minimum 110$ shipping.

    • Correct, it was showing ~$75 shipping, but when you add to cart is then shows free shipping

      • Feel like buying it. Less than half the local pricing.
It is sold and delivered by Amazon and they are usually good at packing and delivering. It doesnt allow for additional warranty to be added.
Although I couldnt find anything about warranty anywhere in Sony US or Aus site.

        • I would too, but as soon as I choose my payment method, it adds the shipping fee. So no go!

        • @unlity1:
          Thats pretty annoying.
I didnt notice that. But still half the price of local stock!!!!
          Will wait.

  • I was always under the assumption that AV receivers/amplifiers have a 110v and a 220v versions because they need a specialised transformer due to power requirements. Can you really just use a cheap $2 power adapter? Especially since the 1080 manual shows as separate european and US versions.

    Also, HDMI passthru only supports 4k @ 60fps @ YUV 4:2:0..

    • Hi mate could you clarify what you mean as the specs clearly state that the receiver does do 4K @60 with HDR @ up to 4:4:4 as opposed to being limited to just 4:2:0?

It's also worth noting that this receiver does now support Dolby Vision passthrough thanks to a recent firmware update (http://www.sony.com.au/electronics/support/audio-components-…). This was a bizarre omission by Sony in the first place that I'm glad they eventually rectified.

Also does anyone have any experience with HiFi Express? I'm thinking about buying this unit from them as $899 is a killer price for local stock but I've never heard of them before this post.

      Cheers

      • Woops.. You're correct. I didn't realise that it was specific to a single hdmi input only.

I would never buy an amplifier from USA unless it specifically states it has international voltage. Buy from Europe or UK to be sure about voltage.

  • This item does not ship to Australia… ?

Ah that's dodgy - so now that the sale is over it no longer complains about shipping to AUS.

  • Looks good but you would think Digital radio would be standard these days.

Funny they say 3d capable pitty you cant buy a 3d tv anymore, a little bit of salt in the wound.
