With that understood, we have another exciting update for anyone who missed out on the previous round. We’re pleased to announce the 6XX will be dropping again tomorrow morning. These units are from a different production batch, so they’ll have a later ship date. The good news is, after working closely with Sennheiser over the last few months, we were able to secure a 3 month delivery timeline instead of the 6 months we’ve had to wait historically.
that's the quote from the discussion where they mention a 3 month delivery time… but yeah, november to end of march isn't 3 months…
I received my HD6XX recently and I've had no issues so far. Can recommend if your happy to wait as it's decent value at this price for what you get ($508 at Addicted to Audio for HD650). I do feel this will be a regular cash grab from Massdrop/Sennheiser though. I also recommend picking up a decent amp or amp/dac combo if you plan on driving these to its potential
I can report that HD650s (and hence these) work great with an LG V20 phone. Don't waste your money on an expensive DAP, grab a V20 cheap off eBay.
Depends on what your after I guess. The LG V20 has a quad dac so it's better then most phones. A good value alternative in my opinion would be the Schitt Audio Fulla 2 for a amp/dac combo at $199 (Addicted to Audio). If your in the market for smart device then the LG V20 is a worthy contender but if you just want a standalone amp or amp/combo there are plenty of good value choices. Obviously you can spend a lot more if you want something higher-end

The V20 senses high impedance cans and adjust to a higher 2V p-p drive. It also adjusts volume in the analogue domain so that SNR does not suffer. Definitely the best portable player I've come across. Happy to be proved wrong and open my wallet for a better player should it exist;-)
I'm not using it as a phone though LOL
