Someone tag the gearbest rep and see if they can do better! I reckon we can knock $2 off this.

    • have no idea how to tag people
      edit: PM'd

I am REALLY after just some cheap white Yeelight bulbs // GB rep!

    • +1

      Yup ~$8 would be sweet

  • +9

Why don't they make these with a Bayonet fitting so we don't have to get an adaptor?

    • +1

Why can't they also make fluorescent tube lamps?

    • care to share from where you are getting your adapters and how much?

      • +1

I haven't bought one yet, but someone posted a link a few weeks back. It was fairly cheap.

      • +1

        I bought mine at Ikea

        2 for $3.

        • +1

ikea richmond told me they dont stock these anymore

        • @sirrobin:
Similar experience, spoke to the staff there and they said adapters didn't came with compliance logo or something so they stopped these.

        • @sirrobin:
          Oh, good to know.

Bought them like 3/4 weeks ago at Tempe.

      • +1

This specific eBay item from Singapore because I only realised I needed it after the light arrived. This was the shorter of two adapters I tried.

      • +1

        Ikea sell them cheap

    • +2

I don't know why electricians still install shit bayonet fittings. Edison/screw are so much better and less prone to wear. Fair enough for older buildings, but the rest of the world aren't using bayonet.

      • Exactly this. I have never seen bayonet fitting before coming to AU.

        • +1

Then welcome to Australia where most houses have bayonet fittings.

        • @jv: Oh, it's been a while and I already have a bunch of these bulbs with ikea adapters ;) I simply know that there is NO WAY that Xiaomi will make a bayonet one ;) btw. thanks!

          @Piter71:

I simply know that there is NO WAY that Xiaomi will make a bayonet one

          Why not?

We can swap them for baby milk powder?

      • +1

Fair enough for older buildings, but the rest of the world aren't using bayonet.

Err, bayonet is by a massive margin the most used fitting in the UK, and thus the rest of the commonwealth.

Personally I'd say if you were to be getting rid of it, you'd be moving to something with some datacomms built in, not edison's screwy idea.

      • I actually like Bayonet fittings more. I have some edison screw ones, and if the lights aren't changed that often and develops rust, it becomes extremely difficult to remove the bulb.

I have a light which cannot be changed because i cannot remove the bulb since it is totally stuck.
Currently contemplating on smashing it then using pliers to remove.

        • In case this helps, I saw a great tip once where you use a cork from a champagne or wine bottle to remove a stuck globe where the glass broke off. I used that and it worked but cant remember exactly what cork as it was years ago (be sure the power is off!)

      • Edison screws wear out much quicker due to their design. The spring terminal is the fault.

  • Why is this type of light all screw in type ? Just curious as to why all is screw in type ? All my house light is with pin ? Do they have this type in pin form ?

  • Can anyone comment on the quality / temperature of the white output?

I've got a bunch of LIFX bulbs which are simply amazing (bought back when linked here at around $26 each). I recently bought a Yeelight strip and it has a terrible tinge to its 'white'. Is this better than their light strip?

    • +1

I don't have any issue with this, have 4 of these and quite happy with the quality.

    • +1

Colour temp is a tad warmer than most cool white white bulbs but definitely cool compared to Philips warm white.I was pleasantly surprised at how neutural the white light was, not tinged by RGB composition. Well worth a test at the price, presuming you want to play with colours.

    • +1

Quality is quite good. I was concerned they wouldn't be bright enough, But when I got them installed and played around with the white light colours they are great. Took some playing around with the Yeelight App and Google home app to get them to work with Google home, but its all up and running and works pretty well. I ordered more to do the whole lounge room they are that good.

Tried to sign up to get some but why do i need a passport number? I dont have a passport!!

    • +7

      lol what…?

      • Trying to buy one and you have to signup to gearbest and when you do it asks for a passport number and tax number?

        • Register directly on the website maybe and then try to buy it/sign in.

    • +3

try free shipping and not pickup :D

      • It doesnt give the option

    • +1

for make benefit of peoples republic

  • These are so good. Received mine from the last deal yesterday (took less than 2 weeks btw).

Was skeptical at first on the brightness output, but white output very much matched the 13W 1400lm Philip bulb that I originally had.

Don't expect the RGB output to be the same though, these fancy colors are significantly weaker.

    • +1

I can't say I've had the same experience. I've tried replacing 1400lm bulb but the brightness wasn't comparable even when white.
I would buy more of these if they were brighter

  • Does anyone know if they work well with Alexa/Amazon echo?

    • +2

ye it should. Mine only works through Google Home through the Singapore servers, but the Smart sockets only come up on the China Server…unless somebody else has a better way for getting htem to all talk

    • +2

yup works with echo (need to select the Singapore server for it to work)

    • +1

There is Yeelight actions for Echo. But cant install from Australia Geo Location

  • +1

I got one of these from a previous deal but couldn't get it to work on my wifi. It did work when tethered through my laptop but it refuses to work through the wifi router. The connection times out every time in yeelight app. Not sure what settings to change in my router to make this work… Tried resetting the bulb multiple times with no success… If anyone knows a fix for this please let me know.

    • +1

but it refuses to work through the wifi router.

you need to setup a secure connection to your network so Russian hackers can't log into the light.

      • +2

If they can make it work I would be happy with that :D

    • I had the same problem, they actually only worked for me on 2.4ghz wireless.
I have airport express' and when i split one into 5 & 2.4 it found it and connected/controlled.
Pushed them back together, wouldn't work.
I went to MSY and bought a cheap TP link 2.4ghz only and have that running just for this one stupid light.
BUT - it does work, no issues, better than my poor broken wemos.

  • The deal isn't working for me. I add 3 to cart, login via facebook, put the code in and it increaes from $66 to $88!

    • it says 1 per order. I think you have to create 3 separate orders?

    • You need to purchase 1 per transaction and then repeat 3 times :)

      • Got it! Thanks fellas. Feel free to neg my comment!!

  • +3

This is the newest 'toy' in our house!
Daddy, can I play with the light bulb???

  • Thanks OP, bought 3 more. These are becoming impulse buys to transition all our outdoor lights to come on and off automatically - great bulbs with good LAN / Homebridge support

  • Don't know what they do, but bought 2 to try

  • +1

What happened to the price war? Can we get these down to $8.88US ~$11AU again?

    • +2

      I'm not Tightarse :(
I still have my Loser plates.

      • You are still doing us all a service here the full price is $22AU! :)

  • Their app is rubbish, they changed it and it screwed around with my current schedules, why did they try to improve something that was working perfectly?

  • Finished

  • When I add 1 bulb to cart and enter the GBFF2 code, the price goes up and I get a message that the code has expired. Any advice?

  • Missed it. Code is expired now.

  • +1

Mine arrived the other day. Have no idea what to do with it.

    • +1

      switch it on

  • If anyone over purchased, I'm in VIC. I'll take one off you :)

  • Can Yeelights be controlled with Google Assistant?

  • Think AU12052 is now expired too.
