Oh yeah, because most ozbarginers are registered medical practitioners on massive salaries.

registered medical practitioners on massive salaries.

Why so offended? Ozbargain is not only for the middle-class show offs. I am sure some ozbargainers have friends or family in this profession.

You'll be surprised. I reckon OzB has more $100k+ earners than it does low income earners.

    • Quite a few docs here…

      • What's up Doc?

    • I don't have a massive salary….

  • This is not worth it. My uncle gets his insurance through his private hospital. The perks are much better. He pays over $40,000 a year, so this is chump change.

    • You should never rely on insurance through your hospital and most hospitals want to see your insurance details.
If a patient is suing the doctor and hospital, the hospital lawyers will only be protecting one and throwing the other under the bus…

Not true. Private hospitals take care of their doctors especially their specialists.

    Hi everybody! (Hi Dr Nick!)

Given how much private practice insurance costs and how important it is to your practice I don't feel this will be a big incentive for private doctors to switch unless they were already looking at switching. Maybe it should be listed as targeted given its very small market (private doctors)?

Also there are doctors on Ozbargain. I am a doctor on Ozbargain and I know a few colleagues who are on here as well. Most of us got into Ozbargain during our student days and never left. :P

  • With Avant removing their free travel insurance for medical students, MIGA should offer some QFF points or something. Might be worth making the switch.

    • Damn - didn't even know Avant had done away with that - might have to rely on my uni's insurance policy now.

      • Definitely check, but I remember being emailed that a few days ago

From an email on the 22/11/17: "Avant will no longer be offering free travel insurance for student members from 1 January 2018. Intern and RMO members will still be offered free travel insurance as a benefit of their membership with Avant."

wish i studied hard enough to be a doc to earn this 75k points

  • Comment removed.

  • For interns too or do you have to actually pay money to get points?

  • wow, there I was, thinking there would be no interest for this "bargain"! Not exactly applicable to everyone
    I am surprised!

However I agree with Australianjim above, that medical indemnity is not something that one would play around with for the sake of some points.
