Samsung Gear IconX 2018 Fully Wireless Earphones (Local) $222.82 Delivered @ Megabuy

81

The cheapest price I could find for these is from a store that isn't having Black Friday sales. :/

This updated model is much better than the original one. They did away with the HRM but increased the battery life from 1.5 hours (!) to 4-6 hours (depending on which review you read).

Sound quality is decent from reviews. They don't compare to Bose for example, but cost less and look much more discreet.

From The Wirecutter's review of the previous generation:

  • Offers decent sound, probably on a par with that of $70 corded in-ear headphones, with spikes somewhere around 3 kHz and 8 to 9 kHz that can give consonants and strings an icy edge.
  • The fit is comfortable and secure for most ear types.
  • Touch-sensitive volume, track, and voice-command controls mean you don’t have to press the earbud uncomfortably and awkwardly into your ear as you make adjustments.
  • You can upload music to the IconX headphones themselves, so you can listen without bringing along your music player or phone.
  • Sweat-resistant design.

Most of the Cons list has been fixed in the new model.

It's also available at Warehouse1 for $223.73.
Cheapest on eBay is $241 after 10% off.

I regret buying the previous model.. The battery keeps draining because it is always in sleep mode and never powered off. So basically you keep it alive by constantly charging it. Otherwise it is beautiful and gorgeous HD sounds.

I hope they have changed that design with the new one.

    • Same as mine!!

    • This review specifically mentions that. Guess they fixed it!

    • heard the new once also had the same prob.

  • Local stock? not sure as the price is way low to be true

    • The part number (SM-R140NZKAXSA) is AU-specific, so it should be.

HK is SM-R140NZKATGY, SG is SM-R140NZKAXSP, etc.

      • awesome, but i just got the gen 1 for $140 :'(

    Megabuy has a bad rep..

Cheap for a reason, these guys have a terrible reputation for misleading advertising and shocking customer service.

For anyone who doesn't know about megabuy yet, checkout feedback from their customers before you consider placing an order. A couple of links to get you started.

Warehouse1 MD spent 6 years as Operations Manager for megabuy. Feedback on the two companies is similar.

    • I've purchased from them in the past with no problems, both online and in-store. Will see if they're still the same. You'll generally see more complaints online.

      • You'll generally see more complaints online

Very true and people are a lot more likely to go to town if they feel they've been ripped off rather than share a good experience but megabuy and warehouse1 are just off the charts for negative feedback. Customer complaints for these 2 companies tend to have the common theme of

        1. Falsely advertising products in stock when they're not, accepting payment and not following up extensive delays in supplying a product.
        2. Very poor customer service when it comes to dealing with faulty or incorrectly supplied products.

which makes me a lot more inclined to believe that these concerns are genuine and not just a bunch of school kids whining that their new gaming console wasn't delivered the next day.

I'm glad to hear your experience has been without problems but it's also fair to warn members here what they could potentially be in for dealing with these guys.

  • I made the purchase through Warehouse1 on Sunday. I used my credit card just in case I had to get a chargeback (the poor feedback really had me worried). I did follow up every day on their live chat with somebody named "Steve". Never received a tracking number, he also said there was an "error" with the order on the Wednesday and that they were sent out that afternoon. Guess what arrived in the post today? I'm located in Melbourne so your experience may vary! But overall I'm very pleased

    • I ordered on Sunday as well. It was shipped yesterday, so it'll probably arrive here in Brisbane on Monday.
      Glad to hear yours arrived!

      • Can u confirm if the stock u received is Local stock

        • There is a C-Tick logo on the box and the bottom of the charging case, so I would say yes.

        • @eug: Would it be worthwhile to make double sure via the part number?

        • @dsiew: The stock code is SM-R140NZKAXSA which is the Australian model.

The package was shipped by Synnex.

Has Megabuy ever sold grey items?

        • @eug: Sorry to be a pain in the ass, you mean the stock code on the packaging, right? If so, great!

        • @dsiew: I don't see any stock code on the packaging. It's dropshipped from Synnex anyway, who are an official Samsung distributor so they definitely won't be selling grey imports. There is no "Megabuy" anywhere on the shipping box. Megabuy just accepts orders and tells Synnex to ship to you.

Just wanted to post my experience here.

Bought the earbuds on Sunday 26th November and paid with my AmEx from Warehouse1. Didn't receive any further correspondence from them and when I logged onto the site it didn't provide me with an update on shipping etc.

Decided to make contact today via the online chat function, Monday 4th December, and was told I would receive this today or at the latest tomorrow. Promptly saved that chat and sent it to my email.

10 minutes later my buzzer rang with the product :)

I was slightly concerned because on the delivery docket that I signed, it states "Gear IconX 2017 - BLACK" but it had the correct stock code number. I opened it up and it was in fact the 2018 edition.

Thanks for posting a great deal - I was using the Jabra Elite for the past year and they were good but I'm keen to try out these new ones.

    • thx for the update, will order mine now :)
      hope they will get delivered.
Also can u plz confirm if they local stock?

      • It does appear to be local stock as per the stock code and mine too was distributed by the same place as my Gear S3 Frontier. I've tried to register the product in mySamsung online but it appeared it was too busy.

I'll try to register it again today and will let you know.
