    Me too but had no patience and struck while the iron was hot on the bing lee bf. Had noticed this red duo reduced on Saturday and figured it might turn out well if myer suddenly did do a 20off.was a punt though.

    Although taking into account the scratching/chipping comment below might not have turned out too bad haha.

  I have a BES 900 in red and can say that the red one ultimately ends up with chips and scratches (and mine is kept in a cupboard). May be easier to keep looking nice rather than stainless which shows every mark.

  Myer will do a stainless BES 920 at just under $800.00 with the same code.

  Stainless ones only have stainless panels, painted ones are powder coated cast/bright steel all over.

  Stainless models still have a cast steel top, which is where you get the first signs of corrosion due to humidity and intense temperature change. Eventually the paint comes away from the expanding/contracting metal and corroision begins under the bubbles that pop up. Maybe you can prevent this by never putting any wet glasses on top which will cool and/or soak water into the paint layer, encouraging it to crack away from the hot metal beneath, I don't know.

  I would get the stainless one again even tho I prefer the red one (of course it makes coffee faster), it is slightly better.
