NETGEAR Orbi Whole Home Mesh WiFi System with Tri-band – Eliminate WiFi dead zones, Simple setup, Single network name, AC3000 (Set of 2)

RRP is $749. Currently $598 at JB Hi-Fi: https://www.jbhifi.com.au/computers-tablets/networking/netge…

Currently out of stock, though I'm pretty sure it'll be back in stock soon (should have by Christmas, don't get mad at me if you don't though). If you find a better deal, you can cancel the order as long as it hasn't shipped yet.

Note this is the RBK50. It has a 4x4 802.11 ac dedicated backhaul vs the RBK40's 2x2 802.11ac, plus a usb port (of questionable use). Details here: https://kb.netgear.com/000038220/Which-Orbi-WiFi-System-is-b… . The RBK40 can be had for USD $229.99 plus $20.54 shipping, about AUD $329.18 total. I think the RBK50 is worth the extra $15.

  • While I just saw Netgear advertise this on Facebook, if it's out of stock at Amazon at a great price in my experience you don't get the item.

Though nothing lost trying, unless you need it ASAP I guess.

    • I've always received out of stock items from Amazon. Since this hasn't been discontinued, I see no reason you wouldn't get it.

It's been my (limited) experience that if it says out of stock but lets you order, it'll be back in stock very soon (within days). If it gives an in-stock date way in the future, it may or may not be in stock well before then (bought a mattress once that said it'd be in stock about two months later, it shipped within a week; a different item took over a month to ship).

If I needed it before Christmas, I'd probably order this one and keep an eye on any local sales. Going by current eBay prices, even a 20% sitewide code wouldn't net a better deal. If you do find a better price at a store that doesn't allow returns, make sure you cancel the Amazon order first. If it's within a few hours of shipping (literally), it'll pop up a message saying cancellation isn't guaranteed; you'll get an update shortly after saying whether it was canceled or not. If it's not about to ship (which if it isn't in stock, it won't be), it'll cancel immediately.

  • Just went back to $279.99. That was quick. As a consolation, here's a link to the RBK40: https://www.amazon.com/NETGEAR-Orbi-Home-WiFi-System/dp/B06X…

USD $229.99 plus $20.54 shipping, about AUD $329.18 total. Plus it's in stock. I'll let someone else post it as a deal if they like, I haven't had much luck recently.

  • Quick search get a lot of positive reviews about this. But most of them use NBN network.
Is there any big different when using this one with ADSL?

    • It has nothing to do with your internet type, it's more it's ability to network over a wider area. Particularly multi story homes.

    • It's just a router, so you'd have to put it behind your ADSL modem. Preferably you'd have your modem in bridge mode.

  • +1

Price showing as $237.99 usd for me currently. Thinking of getting one but I cannot see where it mentions which style of Adapter plug this one comes with, does any one know if its a US Plug and if I will have to buy an adapter/converter or does Amazon send one with an Australian Plug?

    • To Answer my own question. I have read through the questions and found these 2 answers, [RBS50] This is the US version of the product. We recommend purchasing locally to ensure compliance with local and government power regulations and standards. inside box is • One (1) 12V/3.5A power adapter, so only need a local adaptor

      • That means a local adaptor as power is fine here?

  • Back at $237.99, hurry before the price gets jacked up again.
