    • Weird that the cheaper X24 has the RealSense camera while the X1 just has a standard 1080p 2D camera.

  • Looks like a good price (Officeworks still lists it at $1096). Not sure about the quality of the monitor.

However I have had a very good experience with OLCdirect. They were pleasant to deal with and extremely helpful with my warranty claim with Lenovo (who, in contrast, was anything but helpful).

If someone had hardware that could run 4K over 60 FPS they probably won’t care much about the price of their monitor anyway

I've had this monitor since March, its awesome. I use it for work. I paid $412 via an ebay deal on a one off.

    • how did you get $412?

    • Can you remove the webcam?

      • no but you can disable it. You could probably break it off if you didn't want it.

        • Ah, yeah I think it's more an eyesore and a piece of moving piece that annoys me. Thanks!

Webcam has very handy shutter slider so you can literally close the lens.

    • Does it have a big adaptor like the laptop one? or just a power cable to the GPO?

      • Like a laptop one. Old IBM laptop :)

Rocking this model in the office connected to latest Macbook Pro 15. Absolutely love it. Native 4K is overkill for 27" so i went with 1920x1080 mode to match "retina" resolution on the laptop.

    • How's the screen quality in comparison to the Mac? Are any drivers needed for the camera, speakers, etc? Any quirks?

      • No drivers needed - all works out of the box. Image quality in 1080p is stunning, but only in 30Hz mode. For some reason 60Hz 1080p looks blurry. (maybe b/c of my USB-C cable)
Here is a mini-guide how to archive best result:
        - switch monitor to 4K + 2.0 USB mode (button on the monitor's left side)
        - Then "System Preferences" -> "Displays" -> hold the "Option" button and click on "Scaled"
        - pick 1920x1080 option (not the 1080p)
        - enjoy crystal crisp retina-class image :)

    • Thanks for the review mate. Also looking at this one:

IMHO curved screen works better for ultrawide > 34" devices and feels a bit gimmicky on smaller screens.Plus some ppl don't like Samsung's VA panel colours (just a personal preference anyway). But 1440p is a sweet spot for 27" (had set of 27" Dells on previous gig).

        • Will go into the store and check one out to see how it looks.

          Any recos on 32-34" 4ks?

        • +1

@Icecold5000:Most of 32" 4Ks are in 16:9 aspect ratio (traditional monitor). LG has good 32UDXX series. In terms of 34" - they all are ultrawide (21:9) and it really depends from your requirements. If you're after high-end gaming setup look for Acer Predator x34 or Asus Rog Swift series. If you need a good (great) all-rounder - Dell 3415W is no brainer. Just keep an eye on Dell Outlet deals (like https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/323273) and you can snatch really good deal.

        • @revhead:

          Thanks mate!!

  • Good for photo processing?

  • No height adjustment unfortunately.

At first I thought this is just a standard specs 4k screen, a little bit google tell me it's a 10bit pannel, 100% sRGB with 1.07 billion colors, 0.16 mm pixel, that's a true bargain for a monitor like this. the camera and usb port is a bonus, only downside is the warranty is not pickup, have to return it by user. Bought one without second thought.

    • It looks great, got notification that mine has been shipped. Now just hope there are no dead pixels lol.

    • Is it 8-bit + AFRC or a true 10 bit monitor?

Doesn't seem to be on special so I might try my luck waiting for a 15% off global code.

      • 8-bit + FRC

  • Just plumbed mine in. Excellent picture. Works like a hub - connection to macbook pro does picture and charging the laptop, plus other USB ports to charge other things. Put mine on a VESA mount. Feel like a quality bit of kit.
