  • It seems as though Google feels sympathy for their customers

  • It's a shame you can't buy these through Amazon.com.au

  • I'll get this when I open my Chromebook Pro pressie.

Spend $1,725 on a Google Pixelbook every 6 months to get free Netflix :)

    Lol seriously.
    - 90 days of GP Music is a free regular trial, sometimes 4 months with YouTube red.
    - 100GB of Google drive storage: not exactly free but increases to drive have been promoted. Make new accounts for more space. If you need one, worst case use OneDrive - think I got 200GB for linking devices etc
    - Free car pack in Asphalt 8. Not entirely sure the percentage of people, but the vast majority will find this useless.

So basically 6 months of Netflix with a purchase of an overpriced Chromebook. (Worth $48??)

    • I got six months free netflix from a Virgin flight that had wifi enabled. Not really a great day ha!

Haha yeah exactly! Lol Google can make you think you are getting so much when in reality it's not actually!

Dude, these are freebies thrown in. Like millions of other deals, stuff is sometimes thrown in.

      • When I got my (Windows) laptop I got a free printer, free 12 months Office 365, free antivirus software and a free zip sleeve.

The printer was (as far as I could tell) exclusively there, so the ink could only be purchased there (I know I could go online but I didn't want to) and it was so expensive. Hence I didn't really use it.
The Antivirus I think was Trend Micro, it's still sitting in my drawer waiting to be used.
I get free Office 365 being in education.
        The zip sleeve cost $3.50.

At face value, it was a lot. Probably maybe $200 or so of extras? However, it was all cleverly designed to make you spend more. Really, I only got a $3.50 zip sleeve with my purchase and whatever I got for the printer ($20 maybe?)

ewww chromebooks, probably why they're not sold in aus anymore.

ewww ignorant comment, probably why you're getting voted down.

Honestly I used to sell them and did not sell well.. hence my comment they're not sold in Aus anymore. Chill mate.

They didnt sell because they werent promoted. You cannot expect to break Windows when long term education, promotion wasnt done. Why did you attempt to sell them? did you know anything about them?

People are generally content with Windows (and a few apple lovers) even though ChromeOS would be a much better option for most.

Google have been making huge inroads at Schools/uni etc in the USA, and slowly doing the same here.

Perhaps at some point, Google will make some effort to promote to consumers locally.

        • @Peter Pickleeater: >even though ChromeOS would be a much better option for most.

Running Android apps made for a phone on a system which doesn't work without a network because Google wants to spy on you is not a better option for most.

          @Diji1:

system which doesn't work without a network

ChromeOS works completely fine offline and has for a long time.

ChromeBooks have probably struggled in Australia, because there are so many technological dinosaurs who hate change. Americans are much more open to new products.

    • I guess officeworks, catch & kogan not counted as Australia

      • Well kogan imports them from overseas, so I guess just officeworks.. wow soo much love for chromebooks haha

        • @solidussnake grow up dude. Go troll elsewhere.

  • Chromebooks have the best UI.
It's a shame the android app part is so so so bad.

They really should make a separate google play section for apps that are verified to work good on chromebooks.

Almost every single app I try has major issues.

  • Having just experienced an issue with my imported google home I suggest anyone thinking to bring in the chromebook pixel be very clear as to what level of support they expect to receive.

I have just finished 5 weeks worth of back and forth before they google Australia committed to helping me (as I couldn’t sent it back to friends in USA to execute an exchange)

I would expect even less support as the product hasn’t even been launched here. It’s effectively the same as buying a Xiaomi phone in terms of warranty.

  • What's the cheapest chromebook to get this deal to run some Android apps sitting at home permanently tethered or am I better off finding a away to run Android on an old PC if possible/how? And, paying for the subscription.
