Confirmed T2 can do split payments for at least 2 cards. I wouldn't buy T2 for myself (overpriced) but it was a gift for my mother so I didn't mind splashing out on "brand".

Used BPme app twice to fill up. no problem at all.

  • +1

For those following along, here's an update to my first (successful) experience and my second (failed) experience.

An update was pushed out to the Android version of the BPme app sometime on Saturday or Sunday, so I installed the update.
Filled up at BP yesterday arvo, payment went through no problems.
I'm guessing this update fixed the issue that the app was having with AmEx cards. I'm a happy camper now, so I'll keep using the app until I've used up the offer on all my cards.

    Good luck everyone.

  • How can I use BPme app if I only have blank white screen when opening the app?

    • +1

reinstall app, try on a different phone?

      • Tried at least 3 times, still same result. Maybe will try other phone

        • same here, shitty app!

  • I can link my visa or master in bp me except of amex.
    This is funny 😂

    • same here. tried with 2 diff phones too

  • Was anyone successful in SA? The app shows many stations with bpme enabled
So why would SA be excluded?

  • Did anyone else get FOUR pending BPMe transactions when you check your Amex app even though you just used it once?

    • +1

      Just used mine - 2 pending charges, 1 * $1 for authorisation, 1 * $20 for the petrol

      • Your reply prompted me to look more carefully into it. Mine are 3x $1 authorisations and 1x $30 petrol. I have one supp attached to the card so that explains the extra authorisation.

        I'll just wait on it.

  • Anyone know how to take advantage of this offer if you have multiple cards and a full fuel tank?

Since you cannot buy in store stock

    • +1

      Jerrycan

    • +6

      wash your car…. with petrol

      • I guess I could start sniffing it too:)

    • +5

Keep driving around till your tank clears

      • +1

        And uber along the way.

    • +4

Buy a new car to fuel up

My experience with BP deal. 4 Amex cards.

1- Last Sat when driving Sydney - Canberra just before Goldburn.
Connected to pump ok but then couldn't finalise due to transaction delay. pop up message say it should be ok.
10 mins later got bill and transaction gone through ok.

    2- Sunday in Canberra CBD.
Didn't finalise and pop up message say need to pay in station. Saw another person experience similar thing.
    Will contact Amex for reimbursement.

3- Last night tried at BP Artamon. didn't work at all. couldn't lock to the pump.

4- Tried at BP Willowby. Worked well so I completed 2 refuels.

I guess last weekend app update must have fixed initial connection issue. Staffs were unaware of the app despite plenty of advertising inside the store.

When it works, it's pretty neat. But I will still shop around for lowest price anyhow.

    • Mine wouldn't process payment until I went into the shop and the cashier put it through. I think they ran this generous deal to get a large amount of people to test the system.

  • My BPme experiences so far
Kirrawee 15th “technical difficulties” gave up
    Bexley 16th no problems

  • +1

Just an update, used the BPme offer on 6 of my cards so far, it's worked flawlessly each time. Very happy with it.
Assume that each of the 30,000 cards indeed does use the offer, then that's $300,000 that AmEx/BP are spending on an initial test run. That's pretty impressive.

    • +1

I suspect we are being used to test the system for BP. Imagine the costs of paying people to do 30,000 tests across Australia.

      • +1

It's a good way of testing it, while making us save too at the same time :)

        • Too bad, that's not how you release an app. Given the bad exp I had I'll never gonna use BpMe again, and most likely won't fill up ever again at BP.

        • @alanyang: What bad experiences have you had? I've heard a few, they certainly didn't make a perfect app that's for sure

        • @MathNerd: Got an error: "Sorry, We're having some technical issues. Please start again or fill up and pay for your fuel in the shop". Start again doens't work. Reboot my phone got a white screen when starting the app. JUNK

        • @alanyang: That's a really bad experience, sorry to hear.
I did a fill up today and the system went down, so the lady behind the counter forced me to pay with my physical card. Called Amex after that, they said once the transaction goes from pending to approved the system will automatically trigger a $10 credit.
Didn't know it could be set automatic, I thought it would've been manual. Ah we'll see in a few days

        • @alanyang:

yeah you would lol. Next time they dangle the carrot the ozb'ers would be lining up.

        • @gimme: Haha exactly right mate. With the 50% off fuel, there's no way I'd stop using the app even if I run into a few difficulties!

    • FWIW it worked on multiple transactions for me as well.

  • Works again flawlessly today..

used 2 cards at Woodvale WA BP.

  • first run using the app. worked just fine unlocking the pump and it completed the transaction pretty much after i hung up the pump. huh, that was actually fun.

my luddite mother, however, thinks this whole thing is unsafe without being able to tell me why lol.

  • +1

My experience with the BPme app seems to be a rare occurrence then because I've had nothing but perfect pumps and no troubles. Not sure how so many people are experiencing such problems.

    • Same here. Very surprised to see how well the app works, after all the comments on this post. Used the app 6 times (6 x $20) last night, at 11pm when there was no queue. Filled up to $20, went back inside the car to fiddle with the phone, went back out to fill up to $20 again, went back inside the car again and repeat.

      • It depends on the cashier in the store. From what I've seen they are required to start the transaction and finish it. I had to go instore to get them to put it through the last few times, the guy was looking through a manual on how to do it and said it was the first one he had done. Maybe the larger stores are setup to run automatically or have just been trained better.

        • I did go to the newer BPs (the ones that serve coffee) so maybe I got lucky.

  • just tried BPme, after the 1st time not working on Friday, worked fine when I tried it on Monday.

I am always worried I will be recorded as a drive off.

    • What happens if you are recorded as a drive-off?

    • If you are recorded as a drive off and the cops rock up to your door (unlikely), dig through your emails for the receipt, it's timestamped and the details will match up with the drive off receipt, so you're off the hook.

  • This may be english 101 for some, but when Amex says "in-app only via BPme app at selected BP locations by 22/12/2017", does that mean before 22/12 00:00:00 Or before 23/12 00:00, i.e. if I want to get this deal and fill up on 22/12 arvo (for example), will I still be eligible?

    • Before 23/12 00:00

      • +1

        Cool. Cheers.

  • I cant find any BP stations near where i live or work that supports the App? Is it that rare? Any around the Macquarie University area? Or strathfield area?

    • +1

There is 1 around the Strathfield area, the BP in Enfield on Liverpool Rd next to the IGA. If you want something cheaper there is another BP on Georges River Rd 5mins drive from the previous BP. Both can be found in the station finder in the app.

      • Didnt realise there was a filter option in the APP, so i used that to figure out where i can go. Shame not aLL BPs support it.

  • +1

    Funny story.
Last night I used 2x $20in my tank.
Thought I had enough room for $40 worth of fuel.

Obviously I didn't. Second fill up clicked at $17.

Herr I am forcing fuel in and pulling the nozzle out and fueling just to get to $20.
By the end I has petrol overflowing onto the ground and at $18.50. Gave up with a heavy heart

So only got to use the deal once.
Still better than nothing but a ozbargainer fail for me as I should have had a jerry can

    • Should have bought a jerry can instore. It would have paid for itself.

      • In a moment of genius I thought of that but expected the can to cost $10

        • It would have been a free can then after amex cashback.

    • +1

Do as Jeremy Clarkson did and pump the $1.50 into the bin (Episode where he invents the P45).

On a more serious note, when I am topping up fuel where I need a minimum spend, and I cannot be certain, I always keep a 10L jerry can, just so I don't get caught short.

    • +3

Likewise, it was Friday arvo and my tank was effectively full, after doing multiple $20 fills over the previous week.
So, went to Kmart and got a $20 20L Jerry Can, paid for it using Android Pay using the Mobile Wallet offer ($10 twice using split payment), then went to a BP, filled up around 14L ($20) worth of fuel into the Jerry Can, started another fill, filled the Jerry Can and put the rest into the car.

      Sweet as result.

      • +1

In hindsight I should have done that. Had a fair few cards left over

  • +2

Took a while to get the BPme app to actually work, then a while to get the transaction to complete tonight at a local BP.

Won't be using it again unless there's another Statement Credit offer; would rather stick to paying in store and earn Velocity points.

    • +1

      Yes I agree.

    • +1

Likewise, it doesn't really live up to its promise of 'saving time', compared to filling up and paying in store. It just takes too long to start up, then choose pump and wait for the attendant to unlock the pump. Then once filled you have to wait for the payment to go through, which sometimes is a long process.

However with a statement credit it makes it bearable, as there's no other way to get a flat 50% discount on fuel.

However, lack of Velocity points plus the issues outlined above, means I'll be reverting back to the old fashioned way of paying for fuel!

      • -1

I ended up paying $34 (less $10 statement credit for my fuel). I can't do $20 hahaha if I fill up, I fill up until it's full 😂

    • And be able to use a 4c/l docket.

      • BP doesn't have 4c/L dockets though?

        • I think IGA still does them for BP. Hard to spend $30 and find good value though.

        • @JIMB0: Fair enough, that's true

  • +2

was 10:06pm in Perth and was worried the BPme app fill wouldn't be counted. but got the confirmation amex email.

    • Well done Travis :)
