  • Hmm, "Prime Shipping"? Are they skipping out on some of the US Prime features?

Since they scrapped unlimited Amazon Cloud Drive, I'm keen to get Prime Photos for their unlimited photo storage which recognises my RAW files as photos

I have a feeling we'll get screwed over here though…

  • Anyone know if the fire TV purchased from Amazon US would support this in Australia?

Worth it just for Grand Tour

I came here to express my disappointment at the Amazon launch…

  • the comments…prove how professional you guys are :p

you get 6 months free prime video if you have an .edu address cough cough you can buy them on ebay for 1 dollar fyi

  • The proof is in the $$$. They should be making JB HIFI, Harvey Norman , Goodguys and others 'sweat' with their online presence. So far this is a big resounding NO!. The soft launch should've given them the chance to test out the flows and response. After hearing about it for months they MUST do better. Jeff Bezos needs to be screaming his head off right now and using his infamous motivational 'Are you a f*ng idiot or what?'

I buyed Amazon prime from India for Rs 500 ($9) for a year.

    • +4

      And it works in Aus?

    • How?

      • How ? I purchased it or how it worked ?

    • that was only introductory offer that expired end of October. it's Rs999 now.

      • You can still buy for Rs 999 and get 50% cash back as Amazon balance.Which can be used to purchase anything from Amazon. So still particaly Rs500.

All the hype, two weeks of non-launches and then a phhhhtttt

    Amazzzzzzzzzzzzzzzon

Ebay resellers selling no name products or the products you can buy from bricks and mortar at the same "australia tax" bricks and mortar prices. I was expecting a them to try and make a big splash, nothing so far. Maybe they are running live for a few days before letting loose the eye catching deals, they are going to want to pick their act up or they are going to struggle.

    • More AmaZzzzon (Zzzz means sleeping)

  • Does Amazon Prime also do a music streaming service? I thought it did overseas.

  • Amazon site is not great on a phone, perhaps I'm getting the desktop version?

Some of the prices on clothing for men is insane, like $107 for a freaking tshirt.

    • $1000 for a North Face tshirt

  • So the Amazon launch is up the well known creek sans propulsion item?

    Amasters?

Baby car seats for $683. I’m tipping they are putting the prices up by 30-40% so they can reduce them to normal prices in time for Christmas.

    • It is December 5th already, we are well and truly into the shopping season, especially for online given the delivery problems you get in the final week.

      • Correct. Maybe they are waiting for Boxing Day Sales. A strange way to run a business.

it's going to be so hilarious to revisit this thread in 6-12 months. the launch is exactly as i expected.

  • Prime Shipping isn't going to be here until mid-2018 according to today's news articles, so grabbing this deal now is unlikely to net you that on the cheap in the future.

According to the live chat rep im speaking to the site hasnt fully launched yet

"Mohammed Farooq: Yes crazy94boy, I take this as a feedback.
And in the near future, we are looking for the better customer service.
I would like to inform you that at this time, our retail launch date is yet to be announced. Please visit amazon.com.au to find the currently available products on offer from us."

Anything good or not 20 years old?

  • I pay $4USD for amazon prime video atm via the US site - this looks like until prime shipping is added to be much a much more expensive option after that 6 months offer

    • Amazon Prime Video US and AU have different selections of TV/Movies. So far Au looks better, although that could be because the UI is rubbish on the US site and I can't find good stuff easily.

The only advantage of the US version looks like the ability to get channels like HBO and Starz (for a hefty additional monthly cost).

      • I don't use the site, just the app on the xbox and smart tv - as far as i can tell its identical.

    Kodi + Rebirth 2017 Addon. Free :)

Yes Terrarium tv + kodi = everything you need, $3 a month for the VPN

  • No mobile phone deal….

  • +2

Have had this for a few months already.
The only thing I've used Prime Video for is American Gods, content is pretty meh even with a VPN. (Although the player does have a neat function that will show all the actors with character info in a tooltip when you hover over a scene, great for those 'I swear I've seen that guy before' moments).
Mainly use it to subscribe to a Twitch.tv channel every month.
Do note that you do not get Amazon Prime perks with this subscription, this is prime video only. So no free shipping etc, it's extra for actual Amazon Prime subscription.

  • The website is going to be filled entirety with 3rd party sellers.

Once Amazon has collected enough data, they will begin stocking the most popular products themselves and undercutting their own clients.

This is crap, the video quality looks to be 360p at best and very very compressed.

Video Quality is set to Best and my internet speed is 73mbps.

    • I got that issue with US Prime Video for a month or two, but it's fine now (about the same as Netflix).

  • No chromecast support :(

Why would anyone want Amazon Prime TV, its really pitiful.

  • Tried a few shows said not available in my region, went and turned on the VPN to access US version and the shows I wanted to watch disappeared….why show them in my region then refuse to play

    • Do you use Getflix? Or any other VPN/unblocker?

I had this issue, I think I had to turn Amazon Video DNS unblocking to "Off" (not just to "Australia") in my Getflix settings to get Australian Prime Video to work.

  • I might consider it if they had memento, can't even seem to find that one on DVD, and I ain't gonna go as far DVD from eBay or Amazon.

I thought that Mozart in the jungle looks interesting 😃

    • +1

you tried your best to buy it…. now just do the proper thing and pirate it

if they dont make it available to purchase or legally stream… well, what choices do you have?

      its on TPB

      • +1

No movie will ever be worth pirating it.
