Love this set, great quality drivers although the case is flimsy and breaks easily. Great Xmas present. Everyone should own this.

    • +1

It is the same with the old style case hinges.

      • +1

Hate those plastic ones. Case could last forever, but not long after you buy it, you get 2 separate pieces of a case, upper and lower.

        • +1

Easy fixed. Super glue some esky hinges on; nylon strap; etc.

Will never buy soft handled screwdrivers again. I bought a set of extra long rubber handled screwdrivers a few years ago. Haven't even removed them from the bubble pack yet and the rubber is rotting off the handles.

        • @GregMonarch:

Batteries in oral-b toothbrushes are not replacable. Still it's an easy fix, yet many will just buy a new brush rather than having to fiddle with opening it and replacing the battery.

Sure is an easy fix to fix a plastic case but I'm sure more is thrown away making even more waste than is necessary exactly because hinges get broken and it gets thrown away.

          @GregMonarch:

I bought a similar Stanley set a couple months back so hopefully it's a better experience than yours. I still have the old bakelite Stanleys and you can't kill them with a rock. I recently had a really stubborn screw I just couldn't budge with the bakelite screwdriver. Grabbed the rubber number and made light work of it. I can see the value in them but I'm guessing my kids won't be selling these at my deceased estate sale like the bakelites.

    • +2

Maybe I was unlucky but I can't say the same of their quality - I broke one of the larger Phillips screwdrivers after a few minutes of use =(

      • I used a hex bit to remove roof screws (like 15) still works but the end is abit rounded lol. Old hardwood bench I had to remove.

    • +2

Are these real Stanley quality? Or a yum cha knockoff wearing the Stanley name?

      • +2

Yum cha, they are nowhere near Stanley quality.

      • Bought these 6 months ago. Don't like them. Rubber is too soft, and the ends will show wear from the first time you use them. This is a 'screwdriver to last 3-5 years' not a lifetime.

      • All Stanley is "yum cha" these days. Although Stanley is still at the better end of the shopping centre food court

got one of these a year or 2 ago. tools are fine but i wouldn't keep them in that shitty casing. absolute junk, take the screwdrivers out and put them in a toolbox!

    • +4

I've found that tool boxes / shelves are where tools go to die.

Unless you take your tools out with you. These are a god send:

      • I was given one of these and have been looking for another one forever. Now I found it. Thank you!

    • I hate that plastic case with a passion. screwdrivers are great though

  • +9

I have a similar set. Mine did not include the sockets. Would recommend this to anyone who enjoys a quality screwing experience!

    • +2

Thanks. I was hesitant whether it would be a good lay or not at $17.98…

      • +1

Seems you're just looking for a good cheap lay👫
        Typos can be fun😁

  • +1

Will I really have a good time screwing with these?

    • +2

Better than doing it by yourself

      • i believe doing it by yourself can send you blind…. much safer to get this as protection.

    • I think your hand will get tired, after a while. I know that I've ended up with bruising from a real hard screw.

  • +1

Still have mine in a little tool bag - the case is garbage.

The drivers will do the job

  • +1

I bought this a few years ago.

The screwdrivers and bits are okay (acceptable for the price) but the case is absolute rubbish with a terrible design.

  • +2

Good deal. Has an extra nine pieces and for $1 less than this similar deal from two years ago.

  • +9

Just found this, appears to be the same but with more pieces and a 20 piece socket set
    https://www.totaltools.com.au/57-piece-screwdriver-set-20

    • Nice one, thanks for sharing!

      • +3

The Bunnings one has 4 more mini screw drivers and one extra long flathead. The Total Tools has more socket pieces, and 2 stubby screw drivers
        (post edited twice for corrections)

        • +1

Thanks! Total Tools has no info on what was included just thought it looked very similar

    • This one looks better for my needs, thanks for sharing!

    • Dammit! Now I'm in a bind on which one to get!!

  • +1

When i was a kid screwdrivers cost a fortune.
This traumatic history drove me to buy quality cheap sets every time i encountered one.
I am now what could be described as well endowed screwdriver-set-wise.
However that's not going to stop me buying this as well.

If there are members that share my disorder please advise.

    • Checked these out today.
Don't look as good in real life.
Heads don't seem to be hardened or anything.
Usual price about $20 according to the shop loiterer.
That doesn't mean i don't love you OP.

  • I have the similar set without the sockets in this one. Screwdrivers are great. The case is a pain in the ass, but tolerable.

    • +3

The case is a pain in the ass

Maybe, just maybe… you're using the case wrong? It is too big and shouldn't be put in the ass. YMMV.

  • +1

Looks like a great deal. Thanks OP.

  • +3

thanks OP. what is the normal price on this kit?

    • Store had a $19.99 sign still on. Not sure how long it has been that price for. Probably dropped to $19.99 from rrp before discounting to this

  • Yep great set for the price but they are like chalk, My philips lasted one use and crumbled.

  • +2

My ones from a prev deal are still going well, case included. Nothing super strenuous, normal home use you could say. Great buy as someone's first set in a new house for general use.

  • Would the phillips driver in this set fit the little screw on a gate remote ?

    • +2

Id say so, i used one on my car remote screw

      • +1

Thanks for confirming. I ll get one set tomorrow. Been waiting on a deal a my local Repco wants 10$ for that 1 little screw driver.

  • +1

Thanks OP. Good secret Santa present. Might pick my own this year haha.

  • +1

Should be good enough for me to bash and make fit on screws.

  • +1

Awesome kit, paid $20 delivered for it from Total Tools (I think). Was advertised on OzB. The case is fairly trash, but the tools are awesome and that's what matters

  • +1

    Nice, got one.

  • +1

    Thanks OP just purchased

  • +1

i can't believe everyone is raving on about the quality. i just bought one and almost all the drivers aren't even straight. Fail.

  • The tag price was only around $19 something.

I bought a set anyway because I needed some for very occasional use. Thanks OP.

  • -3

these drivers are crap. the handle and tips are made of cheese.
if you're only removing battery compartment lids from kids toys - they'll do the job. Otherwise buy a better set.

    • -1

you speak the truth and get negged. crickey . GO ahead buy them and report back in 6 months time when the heads have chipped away and the rubber handles have turned to goo.
