iPad 128GB 4g with 100GB Per Month for $52.50 for 24 Months at Optus

970

If you minus the retail price if the iPad, you’re essentially paying $20 for 100GB of shareable data per month.
We got this when there was no discount, and thought that was a sweet deal!. Assuming deal expires same as 140gbdata plan deal 3/Jan/18.

    • you have to pay out the device (@ $33/month), but you don't need to pay out the data

      • You pay the remaining pro-rata value of the tablet, plus one (your last) month.

So if you cancelled the day after signing up, you'd owe them $52.50 plus the full price of the tablet. And after one month you'd owe $52.50 plus the full value of the tablet, divided by 12, times 11.

Since the tablets sell for $540-$600, you'd have to stay on the plan for months before leaving would be 'breaking even'.

        • 24 month contact.

        • @watts: Yep. So what are you saying? Edit: Oh, I see… Tablet price divided by 24, not 12.

  • can i stream the optus sport to my tv in some way?

    • Some people get unmetered data to work over wifi with the SIM in a modem (and some don't). So if you're one of those people - and can then find a way to stream over wifi to the TV - then put the two together and maybe. eg. I have the SIM in a pocket modem, and can watch unmetered data on my laptop over a cable, or on my phone via wifi.

I find the whole, "I want to watch on my huge TV" a bit odd. Because when I think of movies I've watched at the theatre, I don't remember the sound or the huge screen - I only remember the movie. Similarly when I've watched a show on my phone lying in bed. I only remember the show, not the tiny screen. But anyway…

The only way to be 100% sure is to play it on a tablet, sit a camcorder in front of the tablet, and connect its video out to the TV, LOL. Maybe go and CTRL F and search for "TV" in the Whirlpool thread, and see if someone found a way: https://forums.whirlpool.net.au/archive/2637819

  • Thanks OP. I've ordered this to replace my fixed connection. Terrible experience ordering through Optus though, website didn't work and was directed to the Sales phone number. Then order confirmation came back with the wrong iPad and price through sales on the phone even though confirmed verbally. Then used the online chat for 2 hours to cancel the original order and re-order! What a drama. If anyone's ordering suggest to go through the chat with time to spare and document everything.

  • Which ipad is everyone ordering?

  • -1

if anyone has their ipad from this offer, unopened that they want to sell for $480.00 id be keen to buy (without the data). Prefer ACT or Sydney to pay and collect. PM Me. and yes i do know this sold for cheaper at Myers earlier this month https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/345633. thanks

  • Signed up for this deal…currently on the phone arguing with Optus as they have not applied the discount and have charged me $70 instead of $52.50. Seriously, they have some great deals when offers like this come up but their billing process is just rubbish

    • Just crazy when its advertised and they don't get it right!
