Nice deal OP, shame that it appears to be compatible with only a select number of phones. Has anyone had success in getting this to work on phones other than the ones listed on the website?

G6 here too, unfortunately it just says it's uncompatible and exits out of the app.
As such, it's just sitting there, next to my bedside table. Taking up space in typical ozbargain fashion because I can't control myself… :S

AMOLED display is a requirement for daydream.
Works fine on my Nexus 6p. Had to edit a file to get it to work but no biggie.
Any chance you could link us to a guide on this? Or name the file? Really want to get this going on my 6P!

I believe the reason for that is that the compatible models meets certain performance criteria that makes for a much better experience. Stuff like accelerometer sampling speeds and screen capabilities and so on.

One thing I can say is that the focus is terrible and not adjustable. Biggest gripe.

It's really good for a supported phone, otherwise it's a bit average, I'd happily ship mine to you for $28 shipped if you want it.

I got this version and it is fantastic with my Moto Z-Force Droid, much better than the Samsung VR I used previously (which is now collecting dust). Try Wonderglade for free game and Eclipse Edge of Light and Wands (amazing as long as you can find a challenger) if you have some play store credit from surveys/ Telstra Sims to spend.
It's pretty good. If you have an unsupported phone you can use it like a google cardboard but there can be some issues. I noticed that the headset sometimes activates the touch screen when I'm trying to watch youtube videos. It also either hits the power button or the volume button when I move. But I think that's just what it going to happen with my phone (s7 edge)

I bought this last time, but I don't have a compatible phone. I thought I'd at least be able to get some basic cardboard like use out of it but the remote won't connect to the phone (presumably because it's a non-compatible phone) so that kind of makes it a bit useless as you can't select anything. Has anyone managed to get the remote working on a non-compatible phone?
