Help Me Choose a Phone: Samsung Galaxy S8 Vs. S8+ Vs. Google Pixel 2

Hey guys, I honestly am having a hard time choosing what phone to get. All can be bought for roughly the same price ~ $60 per month
The choices are in the poll below. I am coming from a Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge which I have used happily for the last 2 years.

Spotify is my most used app but on top of that I mostly use my phone to watch YouTube and Twitch and the occasional browse of Reddit and OzBargain.
I also like using Snapchat and Instagram from time to time but thats about it.

For reference here are the deals I am considering:

    The Pixel 2 has mixed reviews and the SGS's are reviewed much more favourably - but presumably Pixel 2 will have a much better updates situation.

    I'd pick the S8 that's closest to a 6 inch display without being larger than 6 inches, speaking for meself.

    Pixel 2 has dual speakers which might be great if you don't watch with earphones.

    The Pixel 2 camera is amazing but at the same time seems unstable currently.

    Takes wonderful photos with its HDR+ function and also the most natural and powerful blurred background effect of all phones - HOWEVER it crashes constantly in its current form. My wife gets a bit fed up with this but on the other hand it's the best phone photos you can get.

      My 2 XL was crashing a few times a week randomly, but stopped now. I uninstalled a bunch of apps so maybe that was it…

          Too many to list and I don't even remember. I think a few were Sony apps I couldn't uninstall from my old phone so were transferred over…so I can only assume they were the cause…but it's just a guess.

          Sorry I cannot help further.

          Apparently you are meant to uninstall one by one, but who has time to do that?!

    Pixel 2 is a waste of money. Little to no innovation in that phone.

    Get the Samsung.

    If you're the type to "write off" a high end phone every 2 years, then whichever Samsung floats your boat, S8+ deal looks worth the extra $144.
    If you're they type who expects a $1000 gadget to last more than 2 years, then the Pixel, solely for the software updates that will keep it going well past 2 years.
    If you're the type who smashes their phone screen every 6 months, then ZTE AXON 7 or something else in the less than $500 category.

    What about the Huawei Mate 10 Pro? Optus just came out with their deal for $59 with 20Gb data.

    I was eyeing the Mate 10 variants off, but didn't want to commit at $85+ per month - but soon as I saw the deal I pulled the trigger.

    No headphone jack, no purchase. Pixel 2 is out.
    S8/+ has the jack, SD card slot, and a better design imo.
