May I ask how long is the deal running for? How to get a 5% off JB coupon?

I am very interested in purchasing the Sony KD65X9300E 65", should I wait until boxing day or is this as good as it gets?
I would be happy to pay a bit more for an oled, but I don't know if any 65" are going to get close to $3500…
Any opinions would be greatly appreciated. Cheers

    • +1

$2796 for KD65X9300E 65" is the best price I've seen.
Unfortunately I pulled the trigger 6(?) weeks ago when JB last discounted and had a $250 gift card at same time.

  • +2

65X9300E & 75X9400E discounts are great. Lowest advertised prices I've seen.

Shame that I'm after the 75X9000E… waiting for it to get below $4k.

  • +1

Pretty average sale - the KD75X9000E is $4558 when it has been on sale for less at the Sony store for $3999. Hopefully boxing day sales will bring about better deals

  • If I'm only planning to use a TV for TV shows and movies (4K blurays), no games or sport, am I safe with just going with the KD65X7000E instead of the KD65X9300E? or would it be worth it?

    • +3

X9300E is far superior and best for movies/TV shows with it's deep and uniform blacks. Also it is an Android TV.

Low input lag in X7000E is good for gaming and as PC monitor but not for movies.

      • My reasons for picking the X9300E were:

        • Sony’s new '4K HDR X1 Extreme' image processing
        • Zoned LED back-lighting
        • Dolby Vision (firmware update)

Sony Bravia 2017 TVs: Full, in-depth review provides a good overview.

I'm still not sure I'm 100% happy with home theater system turning on automatically when watching TV, but …

        • +1

The X9300E is an edge lit panel.. not sure what you mean by 'zones'

        • +1

          @goblues31:

it is a special edge lit tech that works better than the full array in X9000 with the cost of weight and energy.

        • @windwai:
Sounds like you don't know how edgelit and backlit work. Edgelit will never have as good local dimming, uniform screen or deep blacks as a backlit full array local dimming TV. They can have higher brightness, like this one does. Edgelit has it lights around the frame of the screen so has more brightness around the sides and or top/bottom. Which means you see more light bleed as the TV is brighter around the edge and not the same brightness in the middle of the screen. Full Backlit TV's obviously have their lights all throughout the TV. They can give a more uniform screen because the local dimming can achieve much better blacks as the lights stay off in areas that are not needed. You have no idea what you are talking about saying the edgelit tech is better than the full array local dimming. I'm guessing you heard a reviewer say that or a salesperson to help sell edgelit TVs…

        • @Monstalova:

Read carefully, I am saying the SPECIAL edge lit Sony has, "slim backlight drive+". Comparison can be found in www.rtings.com

Yes, full array is better than edge lit, but not in case of the budget full array in X90 compare to X93.

        • @windwai:
Like I said, you still don't understand that edgelit can not be better than full Backlit. Sony has improved but fundamentally there is no way it can have better blacks or uniformity. If you believe everything Rtings says you're in a landslide. Do you realise that Sony don't release the specs of the local dimming and zoning. The tests done still give black levels, grey screen and uniformity to the x9000e over the x9300e. Rtings even says other than brightness there is no reason to choose the x9300e. So there goes your side of the argument down the drain even with your following of the Rtings bible

    • X930e is basically the best TV right now for HDR. Easily better than OLED or other LED's. This TV has the highest brightness you can get and great wide colour gamut. If you are mainly going to watch HDR on this TV, then it's as good as it gets. Especially since they updated the firmware to give better motion clarity to be the same as the x900e (which is the best tv for motion available)
Plus the Sony X1 processor chip has the best upscaling. Anything from a high 720P signal and up, gets amazing picture quality it's like moving up a resolution for each one.

  • Does anyone know how to or have a Google Home hooked up to a X9300E? Do I need a separate Chromecast dongle or does it work with Chromecast Built-in?

    • Android TV has Chromecast features built-in.

      • does the built-in Chromecast support 4k?

        • I don’t remember where I read it, but inbuilt chromecast supports 4K

  • Hey guys,

Any thoughts on with the primary device being an xbox one x - whether a 9300E would be a great choice, or if I should wait to get an OLED?

    cheers

    • I'd worry about gaming on an OLED due to burn-in..

      • It should be fine for console gaming, just avoid keep the screen on with same picture. But dont use it for monitor.

OLED should be a lot cheaper next year and have better resistance to image retention.

    • It depends on how much you are willing to spend. The cheapest a good quality LG C7 OLED panel for 65" has been in the past for around the 3500+ mark. Here at JB hifi and HN now you can get 65" X9300E for for 2795 (2695 @ HN with 100 cashback). Personally with this price back and Cash back I will get the Sony.

      • +1

Nice, how do you get the $100 cashback at HN?

    • I've used my Xbox One with an OLED TV for 3 years and would never go back to LCD. The fast response time and low input lag of OLED works really well for gaming and infinite contrast ratio speaks for itself. The Xbox One automatically dims the screen if left on a static image for too long, so burn-in has never been an issue.

  • Do evouchers normallyn come through the day you order them?

I can get 7.5% disc on jb gift cards for friends and family (~6.6% after CC Fee) but doubt they'll come through if ordered today.

    • you can put it on hold at a physical store and pay a small deposit

  • Matched by the other boys, HN and GG and Bing Lee. Can use an Amex card with HN for further $100 off.

  • just went to jb at lunch break and bought the tv.

spent $2375 to buy $2500 woolworth evoucher, then used the vouchers to buy $2500 jb gift card.

spend $300 to buy 3 jb gift card @ jb and get $30 worth of coupon.

so TV plus delivery is $2855, and spent $2730 plus $30 coupon. JB gives 3 years warranty is also a bonus.

    • How did you get 3 years of warranty??

      • +1

they have 2 years jb free extra warranty

        • Hi mate, thank for replying. Do you know if that was a store specific promotion ? As I can’t find any info on their website.

  • Just noticed KD65X9000E is $2,476 at videopro in case anyone is interested. Seems to be $3096 on JB site.

  • Deal EXTENDED for 1 more day!! 15.12.2017
