      8 seconds, ain't instant. That's like saying your car can go 0 -> 100 in 8mins.

      But I've bought a few that look like this & it doesn't read in 8secs, unless your meat is not much different to ambient air temp.

  i own a few nd reasonable fast …. there is a balance between how fast heat conducts to the sensor and how often it reads and did displays the temperature …. more than good enough to test the roast or grilled steak for level of done ….. turkey …. well you not get this before christmas but you will have it in time for the post christmas turkey you get cheap after christmas at woolies or coles ….. the one cheaper than chicken …….

  I've bought one of these at $3 and happy to buy again. Works well with thick cuts of meat to check thoroughly cooked. Also useful to check water temp.

    Ive had several too.but it aint instant read. From ambient to say 60° takes over a minute.

  i haven't had one of these but i've always wanted to get them but not sure if this is the right product. Price wise its really good considering ebay is selling at $6.25 (first hit).
