Kogan Mobile: 23GB/Month 1 Year Prepaid Plan $270 ($22.19/Month) - Previously $315 ($25.90/Month) - 14.3% off Via Gift Cards

1350

For anyone looking for a good value prepaid plan, thanks to theomelette you can now get Kogan gift cards for 15% off, then use them to buy Kogan Mobile's $315 23GB/mth plan.

Due to the $50 and $100 denominations of Kogan's gift cards, I personally bought $300 worth of gift cards for $255 and paid a full $15, hence the $270 price tag. If you usually buy stuff from Kogan, you will be paying $267, which works out to be $22.00/mth.

16GB, 6GB and 4GB plans also available at an additional 15% off:

  • Anyone confirm if this will work?

    Buy 23gb for 30 days for $4.90 https://www.kogan.com/au/buy/kogan-mobile-prepaid-voucher-co…

buy $250 worth of gift cards @ 15% off ($212.50)

    stack the e-vouchers

    Get 13 months for $217.40?

    Thanks!

    • The 23GB for 30 days is for new customers only.
The 365 Plan discounts end at the end of Jan (or is it end of Feb?)

      • +1

My optus contract expires mid-jan 2018. This deal represents really good value, however I've never been on vodafone network so will get the $4.90 deal first to test it out.

  • I just bought the 6GB plan on Sunday… :( Does anyone know if I can cancel the order? Status is still showing as processing…

    • I've tried to cancel something I bought from Kogan (incorrectly) previously and there was no way, no response to any of my messages etc. I wouldn't think it would be likely. Also, there is the time and effort to try and cancel vs the savings… These plans are great even without the 15% discount.

      • I currently have an open ticket that was created on the 6th after being on hold on the phone for like 45 mins.. this was meant for their "senior team" to reply to.. and this was 2 days after calling them the first time due to the first person I spoke to (again being on hold for ages) not opening a ticket even though she said she would after we spoke. I chased them up again on the 13th because their "senior team" didn't update anything for a whole week even though I replied to the support ticket after 5 days asking wtf's going on.. this time I was assured that their "senior team" will reply first thing in the morning as they were quite apologetic. again no response whatsoever for 2 days. called them up again on the 15th (fri).. this time they said I would get a call instead of an email response. guess what? yep.. i'm going to have to call them again ffs. useless filipino call centres. it's TPG all over again -_-

      • I contacted them via their contact us page on Monday and a customer care officer called Thomas has just sent confirmation of the voucher being cancelled today. He said that the refunds team will be in touch soon.

  • I purchased a spare $20 off $100 voucher. If anyone's interested, PM me.

Be careful when applying eVouchers and credits together.

It applies the credits (from gift vouchers) first, then it takes the value from eVoucher. Which means if you expect to have some credit remaining for a future order, that doesn't happen. The order immediately confirms the moment you click the "apply evoucher" button, which gives you no chance to review the order and not proceed.

    • Same sh*t happened to me when purchasing $152.1 2Gb plan. When I clicked apply button for final evoucher, bang! changed to ordered page immediately!

I had the following credits. I was expecting gift card balance to be $7.9, but the balance was $0!
      100 gift card
      10 refer friend credit
      20 evoucher
      30 evoucher

    • yep! happened to me. had a 30 evoucher + some referral credit + $100 giftcard. $30 was used to pay the remaining balance straight away without me even proceeding (only applying the evoucher). i had a 20 evoucher that I could stack before redeeming the 100 giftcard. such a scam to go straight through the order without confirming. currently in a support ticket that has been ongoing for over 2 weeks now because they DON'T respond.

      • Can you explain more so I can understand? I pounced on this mobile deal using evoucher and gift cards so I get how Kogan checkout works. However, you said "$30 was used to pay the remaining balance straight away", so that means upon applying the $30 evoucher, the order is effectively reduced to $0.00, thus you would not have been able to use or stack with any other vouchers anyway.

In most retailers, the $30 of $130 type deals are treated like coupons and applied first. Then any remaining amount are usually paid with CC (or in this case gift card)

In thi case its unexpectedly the reverse, which isn't really a big deal if you are able to see what is happening during the checkout process. At least it would have given you the opportunity to pad the shopping cart to fully use up the value of all gift cards and coupons

  • so as per today, the cheapest workaround is $270 for 23GB?

    • You can combine it with a $20 off voucher which makes it $255.

      • ic how does that work?

        i calculated: $255 (3x 15% $300) plus $15 + $7 (to buy $20 off voucher) -$20 = $257

        is that correct?

        • I have one last voucher for $5. PM if you are interested.

        • @Innamura: hi you still got it ?

        • @CI: Hi, sold out unfortunately.

    • Yes, although I think there were other vouchers / discounts that could be stacked on top and cash rewards.

All in all, I find that a pretty incredible deal. Less than $1/GB when a couple of years ago we were paying around $10/GB (and some plans still charge around that price, admittedly for much less data). I guess that's the regular exponential decrease in technology costs.

  • Biggest problem I have these days (in Ozbargain tradition) is saving money by not buying excess data when they make difference between plans so small. Particularly, less than $50 to go from large (16GB) to extra large (23GB). Of course, biggest bump is going from medium (6GB) to large (16GB) but I am hoping they will bump medium up a few GBs once all the silly season is over. My wife and son don't need 16GB but a few more than 6GB could be useful.

  • "16GB, 6GB and 4GB plans also available at an additional 15% off"

    Should be 16GB, 6GB and 2GB? I don't believe there are any 4GB plans.

  • Went for the 30gb data / 4g lte router bundle … $358 delivered to Perth.

  • When will you receive the Kogan's prepaid recharge code?

    • Not too long after you buy it on Kogan.com (a minutes or hours at most). Unless you have to confirm the K-code (from your bank statement). All worked for me eventually.

      • Thanks. placed the order last night. still have not received anything from them yet.

      • Sorry another question. How did they send you the code? to you mobile or email to you?

  • Can I buy in now and activate the service by say March? I'm currently on the 4 month Vaya deal and don't want to port out early :(

    • Voucher expires at 11:59pm AEST on 28/02/2018.

  • Hi guys where do you add the vouchers ?
Do you log into an account Kogan.com and add it ?
Or is this during checkout at Koganmobile.com
    Thanks

    • The vouchers are added on as credit to your Kogan.com account. Login to Kogan.com to add them.

      • Then how will I use on koganmobile

        • Just search for prepaid plans on Kogan.com, add them to cart and click through to checkout. The credit on your account will automatically apply.

  • can international minutes be purchased for a few$ per month?
