  • Geez, 1.7k for an aspc? Must be a really high end aspc.

    • Nikon and Canon have bumped up their prices too. They're going to price themselves out of the market.

    • Nikon and Canon both have APS-C cameras that are more expensive:

      Canon EOS 7D Mark II - $2004

      Nikon D500 - $2,835

A niche market perhaps, but they are still servicing it.

I think this Sony is aimed at people whose primary interest is video rather than still photography.

      • +1

the photography specs are jsut as good as the video specs. its a great photographic camera.

    • It IS a high end APSC AFAIK.

    • Wow, the price keeps rising.

a6300 body only $1137 + bonus $200 cashback seems to be a better deal?
Is it worth to spend $600 more to get the a6500?

    • For photo shooting NO. For video shooting YES.

    • I have to say the 11 fps shooting is quite impressive.

I bought the a6500 for $1300 from Digirect during one of the ebay sales earlier this year (digidirect sale plus ebay 15% off plus cashback!)

    • Having owned both, why would you buy the beta version of the a6500..? Sure it's the same sensor, however, it's infinitely superior in every other way.

    • I think so, but only you can answer that as it depends on what you want in a camera?

  • If you have to ask, you don't need the extra features. Just buy the camera for what you want to use it for, not what it could possibly do. Tech gets updated so quickly these days and Sony is great at doing that in newer bodies to encourage you to upgrade.

  • Will Jb hifi price match this, they had it last week for $1869.

    • +1

Probably not. What I found with these kind if deals was that a lot of the time it's subsidised by Sony so other retailers wont price match.

  • +2

I asked 2 jb stores who both said 2100 was their bottom dollar

  • Thanks.. Thinking to buy or wait till Boxing Day?

    • +1

Having a look at the boxing day history on OzBargain, last year was mainly a bust with no good deals.

      • +1

        Yep, the specials come later.

  • Is this sale only for today or will be there tomorrow.

    • When you follow the link the banner on their website says "today only" (Monday), so I wouldn't bank on it being there tomorrow!

  • +2

    discount code "Take 5".

gives you a further 5% around 90 odd dollars. Worked for me. Enjoy

    • Nice, thanks man. you got me to pull the trigger with this code.

    • That actually made me pull the trigger. Thanks mate.

      • +1

glad i could help. now we are 1700 odd poorer but #newtoys

    • I rung them as I got this code afterwards on the A7II, they said orders would be put on hold until the 5% is made up. Let me know how it goes though, so I can ring them otherwise!

      • +1

What do you mean put on hold? What do you mean made up?

  • Just got an email saying they're out of stock and they'll let me know when they expect to get some in.

    • Same. No ETA. I'll just cancel if it gets to becoming a tedious order.

      • Gave them a call and the guy (Lachlan) said they expect them before x-mas at the earliest and before the new year at the latest.
By the way, not sure if you're in the same boat as me regarding the need for lenses for this new bad boy, but the Sigma 30mm F1.4 DC DN is on sale via ebay through Ryda for $360 with a bonus 32gb SD card. Same deal posted last time around August.

        • Same boat, so big thank you for the heads up. I wonder if it's in stock though. Tossing up between that and the 35mm 1.8

        • @YellowKnight: The Sony Vario-Tessar E 16-70mm F4 is on sale too and apparently eligible for the $200 Sony eftpos card in conjunction with the current eBay sale bringing the price down to $967.08 + $200 gift card. I was after the 18-105mm F4 but I heard the 16-70mm is also a great all rounder lens.

        • @shalashaska: I'm not sure if it's eligible when purchased with an eBay sale too.

          https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/342208

        • @YellowKnight: Some users mention being able to claim the eftpos cards even with eBay promo's. https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/342208 though the T&C's mention "Lay-by and purchases from duty-free, discounted or clearance eBay sales, parallel import stores and second hand purchases/retailers are excluded from this promotion".

I suspect if the invoice says eBay sale, then Sony might not honour it.

  • hey guys got my 6500 delivered last night.. have you guys heard anything back from georges ??

    • Did you order from Georges? The lens I ordered is on backorder and really they don't have a solid ETA. Which is alright since if I find it cheaper I'll just cancel my order with them. Sony E mount lenses are some of the hardest lenses to find in stock.

      • yea got it from georges just with a kit. i used the 16-50f2.8 a-mount and loved it. im hoping the e-mount kit be of similar quality.

        • So you got an a mount to e mount convertor?

        • @YellowKnight:

my apologies i should have been a little clearer. I had used that lens on my A77. And im hoping the new e-mount ket lens is just as good.

the old kit lens is up for sale.

    • Lucky. Eta for me is before new year.

  • Got my postage email today.
