  • Shame its not a 8th Gen, would be an amazing deal then.

    • agree 8th gen will probably come down in price next year once they clear the old stock, they do have the 8th gen GTX1070 on sale for $1999 on there website, these 7th gen models are fairly priced with the discount

    • +1

Still a decent price i think. Probably cost about the same (or slightly less) if i build it myself, still a good saving.

      • +1

I built one for $1300 about 2 months ago on the last 20% deal

        Specs
        i7 8400
        16GB DDR4 2400Mhz
        256 GB SSD
        2TB HDD
        1060 3GB
        ASUS Prime MOBO

        $59 Case From MSY

I was pretty proud of that effort, but I think with this deal you could beat that slightly

        • Yup, it is about the same, DELL provides 1060 6GB instead of 3GB. And you get a better mobo and processor. All in all, this is a good saving nonetheless.

        • @racingmiku:

True. But The CPU is about a 50% increase in performance and the GPU is about %10 so if I was building one now I couldn't justify getting a 7th Gen intel unless the CPU + Mobo is heavily discounted.

@mavis30551: fair point, mate. i think 8700 is about 10-20% better in general. you win some, you lose some, i would say. Dell throw in free delivery, windows 10, mouse and keyboard. plus the pc comes with 2tb 7200rpm drive, optical drive and in built SD card reader. if you prefer building own pc, probably the satisfaction of finishing one yourself trumps buying pre-built model :)

Looking at the pic in the deal, almost looked like the front of a smartphone.

      Says everyone ever.

    • I thought so, too! I was excited to see a new Dell phone for a moment :(

  • I'm pretty keen to get one of these at this price. The only difference appears to be the GPU:
    NVIDIA® GeForce® GTX 1060 with 6GB DDR5 Graphics
    or
    NVIDIA® GeForce® GTX 1070 with 8GB GDDR5 Graphics Memory

Is the better card worth extra $240?

    • +1

There's plenty of online video that shows you the difference in them, but it all depends on the sort of game you play. Difference in the frame rate grows for higher spec games.

If you have the money yes.

It will take you a nice way further into the future.

Better than a complete overhaul or upgrade imho.

My old thread is a bit outdated and the results are huge outliers but it can give you some insight.

Sorry I haven't updated it since I posted it about five months ago but the prices are nearly the same.

      • Thanks Jack and Alien. I did a fair bit of research and for me it was worth the extra $240 and I ordered it today. I'm looking forward to being able to play some newer PC games that would not work at all on my current machine.

  • Would've liked one with GTX 1080 or 1070Ti

  • How much would this PC cost if all the individual parts were bought (excluding labor)

    • +1

      https://au.pcpartpicker.com/list/TPtfYr

I'm sure you can get parts cheaper when on sale. I have chosen cheap parts as I assume Dell will be using pretty cheap gear in the computer.

      • I wonder if it would be worth buying one of these PCs, then taking out the GPU and selling to buy a 1070Ti or 1080

  • How come the $1599 desktop has no mention of the 1070 graphics card anywhere ?

    • +1

scroll down to the details, click "tech specs" - VIDEO CARD NVIDIA® GeForce® GTX 1070 with 8GB GDDR5 Graphics Memory

  • I'm going to buy this with GTX 1060 (looking at staticice, the 1070 isnt worth $240 more) and probably swap it out with a gtx 1070 ti.

    Any thoughts?

    • If you can live with the GTX1060, might be worth while waiting for it's successor to be released. From what I've read, it handles most current games at max settings at 1080. I anticipate its successor to be able to handle 1440 well. If you want to play at max settings and 1440 and upwards now, then you'll need the better card.

  • Is the power supply enough to power higher tier cards such as gtx 1080 ti?

  • Will I have to pay import taxes separately on these products?

    • There’s no import tax it’s aus product just ships from malaysia

      • I contacted Dell on ebay regarding this but got no reply. Thank you for your answer, it is comforting because I have already bought the product, so I hope you are right.

        • These deals have been posted multiple times nobody’s been charged taxes.. should be all good

    Great Deal on a great machine - I bought a 1060 one.

    • Me too. The shipping time seems like ages. Put the order through on 21st and the delivery window is between 9th Jan and 9th Feb =/

  • How upgradable is this? Also is this expired? I am seeing $1699.

Just received mine yesterday. Purchased on the 21st of December. Was wondering how long it would take as the delivery window was between 9/1/18 to 9/2/18. Glad it came on the earlier side of things.

Just got delivery notification that mine is in Sydney and will probably arrive here in Brisbane tomorrow.

I ordered on the 26th December.and wan't expecting it until 19th Jan so bonus.

      • I ordered mine on the 23rd Dec and am still waiting..
I'm excited about the computer but their order / delivery tracking system is terrible.
