    Awww.. Where's the 15OFFXMAS code…

    • +9

They've decided Amazon is not much of a threat, but I heard a rumour that Amazon will be having a big Boxing Day sale

      • +58

I think we should spread the rumour too to encourage Ebay to give us more discounts.

      • +4

You mean some items might actually be cheaper on Amazon rather than all hype?

      • +9

Amazon sux big time up to now ….
Nothing much exciting and worth mentioning

        • +1

Yup, Bezos underestimated Harvey's chest-thumping and saber rattling. Guess they'll be packing up and going home now, defeated.

      • +37

Amazon Australia has been the joke of the year.

        • +2

          Ama-who?

        • +2

eBay got scared sh*tless for nothing

  • you wont get the items before Christmas though.

A gold star to anyone who makes the search link…

    • +46
      • Seems to be an issue - One or more of the seller user IDs you entered was not found.

        • +62

          Seems to be an issue

He never specified that he wanted it to work.

        • +1

@BlazinPast: there's always that one guy that complains no matter how much work others put in to help make his life easier

        • -1

@tassieeagle: I can see why you think that, but it literally takes 20 seconds to copy the list of sellers and paste it into the search.

To be able to fix the error means to go through the entire list and figure out which sellers arent showing up properly. Which is why it is lazy to just post the search link without fixing it to include all the sellers. It only bothers me because I would bet at least a hundred people have used this guys incorrect link which is unfair to them.

  • +24

Looks like the usual list of participants for eBay's less exciting sales..

    Price rises imminent..

    • Price rises imminent..

      Buy now pay later.

      • Does that work ? Most seekers I assume ask for
        Immediate payment

        • well if it doesnt who just dont pay at the end worst can happen they can disable ur ebay account for 2 weeks or so for not paying

        • +4

          @Stealthzor:

doesn't work with most of these sellers, buy now takes you to that payment screen and if you dont pay there nothing happens; you haven't committed to buying the item and neither is the item reserved for you. Only works if sellers don't have 'require immediate payment' on

      • will this work?

    • +9

Or what seems to be the case:
Upvote now. Look for bargains later.

    • Is this where someone makes the gratuitous "I can't wait for Amazon" comment?

  • Great deal just in time for christmas

  • +48
    • +1

Heya, thanks for the search link. Probably a stupid question but how do I search for items with that filter applied? Using the search at the top overrides the filter. Or is my only choice to use the categories on the left?

      • I think someone's asked this before on an older post. Are you using mobile?

        • Nope, desktop.

Edit: Turns out I was wrong, the filter isn't being removed. My bad.

        • +4

@sheepdog: So every time you search, it gets rid of the filter? That's weird. I entered a keyword which you can try replacing with your own keywords and see if that helps. Link. EDIT: Nice to see it's working ;)

        • @BlazinPast: I think it doesn't work with mobile. Searching a keyword would cancel your filter.

    • +1

      Thanks mate

Really disappointed the Gearbite isn't one of the sellers. I love that seller and their post sale service. Waiting to buy the Xiaomi Mi vacuum V2. Can't find a good deal anywhere.

  • What's the chance of a discount on HP microserver g8 from someone for this sale? Mine got damaged in a lightning strike yesterday and I need to replace it.

    • Insurance?

    • +2

      Play dumb and try warranty?

      • Still have to confirm it's covered plus excess is $500 so have to work out if it's worth it.

Sadly out of warranty by 2 months. Just my luck. These only come with 12 months right?

        • One of these will tell you the term. It'll list the manufacture date, but your warranty is from the date you purchased.

          https://support.hpe.com/hpsc/wc/public/home
          https://support.hp.com/us-en/checkwarranty

        • Not necessarily 12 months, I'd just send it back anyway and see what happens!

        • +2

Always that Australian Consumer Law "reasonable life" stuff too, I'd expect a computer to last 2+ years not 1.

        • @Clear:

Anyone know what the product number is on these ? Warranty checker needs it and I can't find one on unit.

        • I don't suppose that you used one of those credit cards that comes with the free warranty extensions?

        • +1

@chu-oh: which section of the Australian Consumer Law mentions lightning striking equipment and having to survive it or it's the manufacturers fault for not building lightning proof hardware?

        • +1

Covered by the Energy Distribution company. Who is your supplier (not retailer)?

They are obliged to protect your property against overvoltage (i.e. surges). Get a technician to write up a report and quote to repair/replace.
I'm currently in the process of claiming damage to my air con and downlights due to over voltage.

        • -1

@donkey: this is a valid point and to try and claim otherwise is basically fraud.

        • +1

@julz: Interesting, how is an energy distribution company supposed to protect your assets from a lightning strike? Surge is something entirely different!

        What a relief!

        I feel like a fool…totally

I know futu online does a monthly 20% off, and I have been waiting and waiting.

Somehow this afternoon I could not bear waiting…

        Then… Bang! This deal!

        at least $40+ savings!

        • 20 % of 800$ is 160$.

        • @Bippz01: Compared with the previous 10%+5% off (which was actually just 14.5% off)

        • +4

          @mrhorse:
          Ahh I get it.
          No much remorse mrhorse.

        • @Bippz01: Hhhhaha :P

        • @Bippz01:
max you be saving is 5% mate

    • I'd message them and see what they can do.

      • Just contacted the seller, hope they would cancel it.

        Thank you

    • +1

Shopping Express is being dodgy… they just ignored my message and sent it anyway

What should I do now? Thanks

  • Guys please help. What do you think about purchasing the Macbook from Vaya_shop that ships from Hong Kong. Should I get it in Australia instead? Are there any big downsides to overseas purchases?

    Thanks!

    • +1

No coverage from ACL, but aside from that it'll be the same. You also could be charged GST when it enters Australia but I don't know how strict they are with that these days.

    • Apple will always fulfil the warranty, and the customer service help is great. You don't need to worry about country of origin since its all based on the devices serial number. However for servicing you will need to take it to an actual store and for some reason can't do it through the online process (from multiple personal experiences). I cant vouch for Vaya, but Apple's support has never let me down.

      • So if anything were to happen to the device, it would still be fine if I brought it to an Apple Store?
        Thanks!

        • Well, I took an internationally purchased iPhone to a Melbourne Apple store to fix, they showed me the door.

Apple will not always fulfil warranty. He's right, it's based on the serial, which will prove country of origin. If it's not Aus, no go. MacBook may be different, don't know.

  • +9

iPhone X prices risen by 400 above retail to cater for the discount… Yea pass….

    • You can make a formal complaint to ebay and if you can prove they have price jacked, ebay will probably refund the difference.

      • Thanks but I don't have the before and afters… Just standard really that they do it

        • You don't need before or after - ebay will investigate themselves….
