As requested from my previous deal. This 5 Port Charger features 1 USB Type-C port with USB Power Delivery and 4 regular USB ports with VoltIQ fast charging. It's the cheapest price it has ever been.

USB-PD uses USB Type-C and charges compatible devices significantly faster than standard charging (5V/3A, 9V/3A, 15V/2A). Supported devices include the Nintendo Switch, Apple Macbook, Google Pixel and Nexus 5X/6P. VoltIQ is suitable for non-QC/PD devices and can charge up to 5V/2.4A in each port simultaneously. This is suitable for many devices including iPhones, iPads and Raspberry Pi's etc. The charger uses a standard Figure 8 cable.

Next up is the popular Xiaomi MiJIA IR Sensor and Photosensitive Night Light. This is the official global version that has packaging and manuals in English. The light has a 120 degree sensor angle up to a distance of 5-7 metres. When triggered it will light up the area for 15 seconds. It's powered by AA batteries and can be stuck almost anywhere with its 3M adhesive back and inbuilt hook. This is a preorder that will be available in 2 days.

  • So the regular ports can do qc 2?

    • +1

No they just do the VoltIQ fast charging (up to 5V/2.4A). Tronsmart Titan Plus is more suitable if you're just after QC/VoltIQ.

      • +4

Ok thanks.. So there's no device with qc and pd?

        • +3

Correct. Hopefully Tronsmart release a charger with both sometime next year.

        • +16

          @Clear:

They should do 1xPD (30W), 2xQC3 (2x18W), 2xVoltIQ (2x12w), which would keep it to 90W total, like the Titan! (Assuming total watts is a design limitation)

What I really would like is a higher PD (eg. 45W) and/or second PD port, but that would send it over 90W! :)

        • +8

@caprimulgus: You're correct about the total watts limitation. That's actually a really good idea. I'll put it to the Tronsmart product manager and see what they think.

        • +3

@Clear: if that comes out, would be the most popular charger for the tronsmart range.

Sorry, this coupon code is applicable for some specific items.

    Got the above message

    • +2

As per the post, the coupon is used for the Xiaomi MiJIA Night Light. No coupon required for the Tronsmart.

  • +1

if this can charge macbook at full speed, then this can be used as a fast charger for the iPhoneX as well then?

whats peoples shipping experience with geekbuying?

    • +2

It can charge fast charge the iPhone X.

As mentioned in the PM, there may be slight delays due to the Christmas holiday period.

  • What is the difference between using a USB-C charger and a standard USB with a USB-C converter if both are QC3.0?

    • What do you mean? This charger doesn't have QC3.

    • No difference with QC3, but this charger doesn’t do QC3.

This charger does USB PD which is what the Pixel and iPhone 8 use and only works over USB C

      • Thanks

In that case there will be no difference between using a USB-C supported power bank or not to charge a USB-C phone.

    • +1

Just different physical ports. Qc3 regardless of form uses the same "negotiating" method.

  • I have this however I wish I paid the little extra to get all 5 ports QC 3 in the 90w model. https://www.geekbuying.com/item/Tronsmart-USB-PD-Type-C-Char…

  • May sounds like a dumb question, but would it charge a 2017 macbook pro 15"?

    • +2

      Only at 30W

  • Thanks! Picked up a few more of the night lights. They’re one of my favourite items. Gonna see if they work on the balcony.

  • Does not work

    Link takes to shareware website

Code does not work at all

    • You must have been signed out of your OzBargain account. The website delivers affiliate URLs to guests (it's how they make money). The coupon does work… on the Xiaomi light as mentioned in the post.

  • I logged in to the ozbargain afterwards to post the comments that its not working

even with a different browser its the same

    • The coupon is working. Are you signed in?

You will always be served affiliate links if you are not signed into OzBargain. I have no control over that.

  • So, with the usb-pd port. Will that charge my pixel at 3A? Like the stock charger? Or will it be limited to 2.4A like the other ports?

    • +1

      It will charge at 3A.

      • Thanks.

  • Do you guys have a coupon for this?

    • +1

      Explosion proof impact resistance

Explosion proof, but only resistant to impact???

  • Should I choose UK or EU option.

I guess it determines the AC plug type?

EDIT: oh EU is cheaper: decision made.

It seems most people still aren't aware not to buy USB-C stuff that hasn't been certified or reviewed by a competent independent reviewer.

Buying a brand name is not good enough as big brands have put out a lot of defective stuff, and trying to save a few $$$ can end up to you losing a lot of $$$ when your device's motherboard gets fried.

Unless it's USB-IF certified or independently reviewed by someone like Benson Leung or Nathan K, don't buy it.

This is anything USB-C, cables, chargers or adaptors. Sticking with the stuff supplied with your device is assumedly ok, of course.

    Here are a few links:

    https://www.theverge.com/2016/2/4/10916264/usb-c-russian-rou…
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SjeZB12985c

And here's a spreadsheet of currently reviewed stuff:

    https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1vnpEXfo2HCGADdd9G2x9…

This Tronsmart model isn't on there I think, but the two on there are both -3, the worst rating, essentially, by this scale, most likely to fry devices.

    • +1

The 2 worst devices listed have been long discontinued. QC3 chargers with a blue USB are an old model.

The other issue is QC3 over USB-C which breaks the USB specification. This was a common practice by manufacturers prior to USB-PD chargers hitting the market. Phone manufacturers are guilty of putting QC3 over USB-C. New Tronsmart products like this charger and their power banks don't do this.

      • That may be, I can't say, but until they appear on reviews I'll pass. If they're good now, TronSmart need to be sending some sample units to reviewers. Trust, once lost, is hard to regain.

Did I miss any certification or independent review of this specific product? Believe me, I want to buy this, but a manufacturer's word just isn't good enough.

      • Also AFAIK while QC3 may be against spec and may prevent USB-IF certification, it doesn't prevent an independent reviewer giving it the thumbs-up. There are devices on the spreadsheet I included above supporting QC3 and rated 2 (good).

        • That is true. The list is showing years of development of fast chargers. I'd expect each new release to be better than the last as people understand the risks.

    • What struck me about the products Benson found issues with was that so many had 4 or 4.5-star average ratings on Amazon. Good reminder that one motivated expert taking a close look can be worth much more than a hundred Joe Customer reviews.

    • That was primarily around A-C cables not including the correct resistor wasn't it?
Without it devices could try to draw 3A out of regular chargers

      • AIUI it's pretty much everything USB-C that needs to be to checked, the link I sent and some other links pretty much cover everything, including the smallest adaptors.

There are -3 rated chargers, A-C and C-C cables there, there are also not recommended adaptors here:

        https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1wJwqv3rTNmORXz-XJsQa…

I'm not au fait with the specifics of what can go wrong with various design defects, so I just follow a general "avoid" policy if I'm not sure.

  • sweet bought the tronsmart 60w charger to charge my cygnett 20000mah charge up pro power bank which accepts USB-C input at 5V/3A, 14.5V/2A or 20V/1.5A :)

  • Thanks, ordered a few of each. The express (3-5 day shipping) on the sensors would be nice if they honor it (pre-release i know).

    • Just remember that the order will still need to be processed and packed. The shipping time does not include that.

      • Of course. See I need lots of lights to stop the neighbour kids stealing all the drugs I grow on my balcony when I'm asleep at night. They also started stealing the sensor lights, but that's a different story.

Ordering more than 10 gets you HKDHL Express free as well, which I am thrilled about.

Edit: Would click + 10 times but wont change anything I guess.

  • Is there a usb and/or wall socket powered version of these lights available that someone could point to please?

  • So which USB-PD car charger do I need for a Pixel 2? Thanks?

    • +1

Apparently none on the market are certified or recommended yet, so probably wait to buy one.

      • Any reason this wouldn't work?
The Type C pirt charges at 3A

        • Not saying it won't, but the following post summarises it well.

Essentially it's a risk, probably small, but still a risk.

          https://www.ozbargain.com.au/comment/5447062/redir

Edit: That one you linked does not use USB PD technology.

        • @John Kimble:

So, seeing as it doesn't do PD. It's capped at 3A. Which means whatever risks outlined in the links you provided wouldn't apply.

        • +1

@Herbse: I suppose. But I was just answering his question…"So which USB-PD car charger do I need for a Pixel 2? Thanks?".

  • Will it be useful for an iPhone 6s and MacBook Air?

  • Thanks for organizing this deal! Ordered.

  • Thanks OP! Ordered two nightlights for the toilet run.

  • Is there no AU plug for the charger?

    • No sorry. It's using a common figure 8 cable however.

  • Thanks Clear, ordered 3 of them - 2 for home and 1 for work.

I hope the USB-C PD works with the iPhone X!

  • Just received mine.

I'm actually more excited by the AU adapter that came with it! It's a super thin one, not much thicker than the width of the pins - this is exactly the type of adapter I was searching for yesterday!

(seems like the AU adapters you get with items from china are a bit of a crapshoot, sometimes good, sometimes bad…just whatever adapter type they have lying around)

  • This night light or the yeelight one? What are the differences and which would you reccomend.

  • hmm, there seems to be a bit of squealing (coil whine?) when using this charger, which doesn't happen with the U5TF (https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/350504)

  • Does anyone have suggestions on a USB C-C cable that works correctly with Power Delivery?

  • Is this still available?
