Dell S2417DG 24" Gaming Monitor 1440p 144hz G-SYNC $590.95 Delivered @ Newegg Global

120
NEWEGG2017AUS

Great gaming monitor. TN, but very high quality. One of the cheapest monitors with 1440p, 144hz and has G-SYNC.

Looks like the cheapest price ever for this, even with the hefty 70.95 AUD delivery fee.

Ordered one for myself, let's see how it goes.

Ships from the US, but I've had a chat with Dell Australia and looks like warranty is transferable to here.
Also had a chat with a newegg representative, and they told me they will include an australian power cable.

Great price. I went for the Asus PG279Q over this because if I was dropping serious cash on a monitor I wanted IPS, but at this price TN is pretty legit given all the features.

Also consider pixel density - this one has a pretty good density, as its 1440p on 24'.

  • Is there much difference in terms of quality of a monitor that has 144Hz with G-SYNC? Compared to monitor that has 144Hz but no G-SYNC?

    • Nope. Gsync allows for dynamic syncing of your monitor refresh rate to the actual framerate being generated by the video card.

Some high quality monitors without Gsync are from the Benq Zowie range

    • IMO no difference, if you have a great video card and will get over 144 frames per sec in all games you want to play then you have no need for G-sync.

I only use G-sync on single player games with all the graphics turned up. in multiplayer i always have graphics turned down and FPS locked at my refresh rate. (I only play first person shooters)

  • There’s a 15 usd off code too. NEWEGG2017AUS

  • I bought the 24" version last year. Horrible colour banding, crushed blacks, had a big glob of backlight bleed in the bottom right corner. Got a replacement, backlight bleed was better but still had the other problems so returned that too.

    • I've read quite a bit about this complaint. In the end all screens (including IPS) have this issue in varying degrees, and the colour config applied to the screen makes it more noticeable or not (looks like gamma being one of the main factors). Also depends on the person, some people notice it more, others don't. Statiscally speaking, looks like people are more often extremely pleased with this screen than not.

      • I found it quite hard to be pleased with the monitor when every time there is black on the screen it looks like a mixture of grey and blue and seeing pixellation when the shades mix together.

  • When are they going to make OLED monitors?

  • Aside from the extra inch, I'm not too big into monitor specs… Why does this cost 2x more than this monitor?
    Dell UltraSharp UZ2315H (FHD)?

I guess what will the average folk see?

      G-sync and 144hz, mainly.

  • bastards raised the price when I had it in my cart.
For me it is $590.95 delivered.

    • yeah, that's actually what I paid on it as well. 5 hours after I bought it, they decreased the price. But $590 is still a bargain for this monitor. I've changed the price on the title now, to reflect the new price.
