Pretty decent deal for a S2066 CPU from Amazon.

** Socket LGA 2066
** Compatibale with Intel® X299 Chipset
** 6 Cores/12 Threads
** Max Number of PCI Express Lanes 28

Intel provides International warranty so should any issues arise you should RMA directly through them. My last Intel CPU RMA (~4 weeks ago) was completed in a 7 day turnaround (with Intel covering all costs).

6 left in stock (more on the way), so you can backorder for the same price once the current 6 sell out.

Cheapest local store stock is MSY @ $509, so a saving of ~$90.

    140w tdp and $399 for the cheapest motherboard at PCCG.

    Better off going intel 8th gen i7.

    • Is the OP one a 7th gen?

          As in extreme for better gaming? Sorry for the stupid question but it's been about 5yrs since I build a pc

          @BlitzR:

          No, the higher up in the X series you go you're primarily paying for extra cores/threads which doesn't really benefit gaming. Go for an 8700k if you want the best gaming CPU currently.

          @airal3rt:

          That's not really good advice - cause you've just suggested the X series have extra cores which don't really benefit gaming, but you've also recommended the 8700k when both the i7 7800X and the i7 8600K are 6core/12thread processors.

          But yes, you are right - 8700K has the 7800X beat in gaming as it has better single core performance. Additionally, motherboards are cheaper for the 8700K as you're not buying into intels expensive HEDT x299

      • its from intels previous gen HEDT platform

        which has been largely made redundant by Ryzen and Intels Coffeelake (8th gen consumer)

        • Cheers.

          @BlitzR:

          Actually, my bad - 7800X is X299 and is current gen HEDT (only came out mid this year)

          But it's a weird CPU with no real place in the market. Intel was sort of scrambling earlier in the year, as AMDs Ryzen caught them a bit off-guard and shook up the market.

          No one in their right mind will pay $500 for this CPU, coupled with an expensive X299 motherboard (cheapest are over $400) when the 8700K has it beat in gaming for less, and ryzen 1700X has it beat in multithreaded applications (rendering, editing etc) for less.

        • @ILikeBargenz:

          thanks for your advice mate

        • @ILikeBargenz:
          If people want the PCIE lanes there may be a reason for it.

          Not a great value one regardless though.

  • 8th gen is much better no point in getting 7th gen anymore

  • lol. Got one yesterday. NVM.
    Wanted to replace old computer as it was only processing 0's
