Not commenting on this particular model but for those hedging on whether to get a soundbar or not, just do it. I resisted for years as I didn't want to spend the money but now that I have one (Yamaha ats- something) it's amazing what ~$240 can do. I'm no audiophile but it's actually nice to hear the dialogue properly now.

    • Just don't spend less than half that, because they're all awful.

Anyone able to review this model?

      • Why not? Got a cheaper Sony model for $160. It is way better than the inbuilt TV speakers.

        • That's $10 above what I said :) good choice!

      • I got 1 & love it , is a bargain at full price not much exra than bar’s without rears, only gripe is arc occassionally won’t turn it on(once a month roughly) and not the loudest but loud enough for me , should be able to demo volume (bar anyway) in store

  • Can i connect this to my desktop (Latest Dell)

    • Depends on whether your laptop HDMI port is v1.4 or above or you if have an optical audio connector.

Latest model tells us nothing about your computer.

      • Not a Laptop but a Desk Top,…….Dell XPS 8920 i7-7700 16GB RAM 2TB+ 256GB GTX1070

Sorry, not sure where I got laptop from..

Yes, you should be able to with a GTX1070 but it may take some configuration fiddling to get it to work, I don't think all HDMI cables are capable of transferring 5.1 sound so thats something to look out for.

Edit: Yes GTX1070 will do 5.1 and 7.1, HDMI cable must be at least v1.4

        • Cheers,thanks for the imfo

  • How do these things (soundbars w/sub) handle music? Im not expecting earth shattering volumes ofcourse.

I use spotify thru xbox1 & ps4 & love the output, can’t speak for bluetooth though, did test once , seemed just as good

      • Thanks. Tempting as looking to rid my old Samsung HTIB have had for ages in the kids/family room. Although these don't have fm radio I'm assuming which is needed.

  • Can you use w/o subwoofer? They're so bulky.

    • Na, all speakers connect to sub

      • Thanks :)

  • you still need a power cable and cable connection to the sub?

also im planning to get this or the z906 anyone have any suggestions?

  • There are reviews saying that the subwoofer fan is very loud?

    • Read that too.. Can someone please confirm?

  • +1

Yes. This unit it terrible. Fan is the biggest let down - Avoid

    • Is it in all units or only a few are affected? Also, can it be changed under warranty?

        Hi Dealayed.

I can't say "all" but for the 3 that I have gone thru… cropped JB receipts in link (cropped due to having my details on them for Warranty) but after 3 units, safe to say this is a dog and this is just how Sony make this unit
