Oven Door won’t completely close

Hi,
I’m hoping someone can help!

My new ‘Factory 2nd’ Delonghi oven door won’t completely close.

It is slightly ajar and the door sensor picks this up and creates an audible a alert due to heat loss and energy wastage.
Appreciate if anyone can help here.

Thanks

What do you want? Call the store either way to arrange for it to be repaired or to request a refund. No need to talk to us - just contact the store to make it right. If they won’t do anything - then people here can give you other options.

  • Return it, it doesn't work as it should.

  • In my experience it's better to call the brand of the appliance for warranty issues. They will send someone out to inspect it. If you're extra nice they will even cover it if the warranty has expired.

Thanks, it’s only a month old. Plenty of warranty left.

It’s just an odd fault, that has gotten worse over the week.

      • Call delonghi and make a appointment. Also search online for your model and see if other people have the issue.

        • I’m a google master but none of that yielded any results.

I’m worried that if I remove the door, the warranty guys will say I screwed it up

you need to talk some sense into your oven.
failing that, give it a stern kick. Normally that would do.
failing that, unplug the cable. Noise gone, No energy loss.
    no food too :)

Old style fix. Worked every time with old style appliances. But these days with all the sensors and electrics you are more likely to cause more damage than good.

my aunty had a similar problem, she had to sit on the door while she read a book.

You got a one year warranty. The instructions are here: http://www.delonghi.com/en-au/customer-support/warranty

      Thanks,

I called them on Friday morning but the voicemail said they are on a public holiday! I need to get a job there

Absolutely no need to return it….(yet)

Id say the oven door has come slightly adjar from its mountings. Probably during transit. Remove the oven door from the oven and then replace it. Or even try just lifing it slightly but forcably, jiggle it around a bit so hinges drop into place and pushing it back into place. Oven doors are made to be removed for cleaning and maintenance purposes so it shouldnt void your warranty.

Is the door a removeable one. If so, try removing it and then reseating it. Sometimes it is the hinge position that is not perfectly aligned that causes this.

  • Put a pile of old newspapers up against it, to hold it shut.
Or call for a warranty repair.

  • same thing happens with our old oven, we simple use some masking tape to tape it closed every time we use it (no kidding)

  • You’ll have to stop using it as an oven, but now you’ve got a fancy new cupboard.

    Factory 2nd

This item has been sold as a factory second for a reason. It would be unreasonable to expect that the item looks, feels or operate as one that's sold as brand new.

    • From Delonghi website:

All Factory Seconds are in perfect working order, but may have: slight cosmetic imperfections, be a previous year's model, an ex-display item, refurbished etc.

      • Delonghi website:

Did op purchase the item directly from the manufacturer's website or third party retailer?

        • Direct from Delonghi.

  • Was it sold as an oven, or a heater?

  • Our oven has this same problem, its the metal that the door hinges are bolted to, its too thin and bends with the weight of the door opening over time.

I've fixed it countless times now by taking the door off and bending the hinge to the correct position with a large screwdriver. You can literally see where the metal has bent on the oven frame.

Its quite possible that this will happen again if your oven is the same, but the fix is easy.
