  • Can someone suggest a decent tool-kit to keep in the car? Looking for $40-$60 range which has all basic hand tools.. Thanks!

    • virhlpool,
In that price range Bunnings is better value than Supercheap for a decent basic auto kit.
      https://www.bunnings.com.au/craftright-66-piece-tool-kit_p61…

      • Thanks so much!

Not a bad kit for the money but much bigger than anything I would want to carry around in my car, but I guess depended on what he thinks he's going to do on the road.

2 screwdrivers, a set of pliers, some spanners, maybe oil and a funnel if going on a long trip and I had a car that was inclined to chew oil. A jerry can (usually empty). A small/part of a tyre repair kit, maybe some vales and a valve tool, a container of demineralised water if I was concerned about my car going through water. A tow rope, maybe a reflective A frame in case I breakdown somewhere there is a risk of someone running up behind me. A lot of the above isn't in any toolkit you can buy off the shelf but if if you got stuck somewhere is more useful than some single toolkit with lots of tools.

    • Truthfully there aren't really any circumstances where the average urban driver will need to reach for a socket set etc.

      • +1

Which is why water, oil, tyre repair kot/valves and the Jack that comes with the car are all more important. And maybe even a tyre pressure gauge and inflator/compressor are all more important.

    • Don't bother, just look at the actual bolts and bits on your car and buy the stuff that fits it. Chances are if you buy a spanner set, you'll never use 9/10 of them, your car probably has uniform sized bolts. One of the other comments below lists a good range of various items that are more useful.

      I would add to that:

      • a scanner tool for if your car throws up an error code
      • spark plugs, fuses, replacement bulbs, some oil and fluids
      • a rag
      • a lightweight, shitty tool kit to keep all the stuff in (I got mine from bunnings for like, 10 bucks)
      • a manual for fixing your car - Haynes is the go to brand for those - so you actually know how to take stuff apart and put stuff back together if you fix something
      • probably some other things too, but combined with the stuff that Jackson (other commenter) mentioned, this would make a far better tool kit than a generic set with 'the lot' from bunnings or supercheap.

      Cheers!

  • Anyone tried the cheap Gator reverse cameras? How are they? Looking to get one for my dad.

These prices are reflected on their eBay store as well so if you wait until tomorrow you could combine it with the 10% off PUNCH code for an extra 10% off if they have any items you are looking for on their eBay store.

Sweet! After some wiper blade refills for the car. Will have a look when the sales goes live :)

      • Let us know if you find anything of value!

        • Sadly I didn't for my cars (VW Polo & Audi A3). This website was cheaper by a few dollars plus saves me the hassle of compatibility (for the rear wiper blade) - https://www.wipertech.com.au/

They're offering 10% discount voucher & free shipping so thinking of just buying from Wipertech.

Anyone have experience dealing with them/purchased wiper blades from them before?

  • Good idea thanks

  • Wash and Wax, is Meguiar's worth double and some more then Turtle Wax, or Armour All?

    • Only if you want to preserve a wax/sealant coating that's on there already. If you have no coating and just want a wash, get the cheaper stuff.

  • eBay has 10% off for boxing day (min $75 spend) so use click and collect for even more savings

  • Was there a 15% off SCA gift card on ebay not long ago?
