First post so anyone feel free to fix.
Came across this while trying to find some AV receivers, looks like a good price for Aus stock.

      Wait .. so if you need and use the ports that's a bad thing, vs getting something with fewer ports and not have enough. Or having room to grow.. I mean it is only as messy as you need it to be right?

        It could be a bad thing for someone who is a neat freak or technophobe, I agree with you it's good to have more ports than immediately necessary.

        My comment was more in response to the 'What about…" by felto82 wanting an opinion… maybe even a comparison.. not sure what that user wants…maybe just felt compelled to join the conversation and wanted an ice-breaker… so I compared the I/O board and gave my immediate thoughts. Just commentary, no emoticons.

    I did a quick bit of research comparing this Pioneer with a lower model Onkyo (656), and the consensus is that they're more or less the same amp with a few minor differences in inputs. Comparison between the Onkyo 656 and 676 seems that there's not a whole lot of improvement between the two.

    The onkyo 676E seems to retail for a bit more than the retail price of the pioneer vsx932.

    Onkyo has a fair few extra inputs on the back, (7 hdmi vs 4 on the pioneer, an extra optical etc but would be redundant for most people) theres also a second hdmi out on the onkyo.

    Pioneer has 1080p > 4K upscaling, whilst the Onkyo doesn't seem to although pretty much all TVs will handle upscaling . Also has digital radio.

    I'd say sound quality wise, they're going to be the same. Just a few minor differences in regards to features. Can't really go wrong with either at this price - but would be

    Any speakers for the 7. You'll most likely need to import 2 Atmos speakers though. I imported these from Amazon.

  Heads up this has a bug in the Chromecast functionality and Pioneer and their outsourced support are useless

  I have the Pioneer VSX930 a few years old, never had any real issues. But not once since i have had it have they updated firmware, which speaks of poor ongoing support.

  Overall a decent receiver, put probably wouldn't get a pioneer next time round.

  I’ve loved my old tx-sr 606 Onkyo. Even with the dreaded HDMI fault this series has. Mines been 99% perfect, had to change a crappy cheap hdmi cable once and worked fine since.

  I’m trying to convince myself that I need a newie.

  Though the pioneer does seem ok too. Shrugs. Pepsi and Coke guys. Pepsi and Coke.

    Stocks are low for this if you haven't checked, better make a decision soon before sold out.
