  • This is great oil to stock up on!

    • +1

I always rub myself down in this before putting on my bicycle pedals to kick ass…

  • very cheap

  • Used it in my VF Commodore since new. No issues to date. Great price.

  • Used in VE II commy, great oil, regularly around this price, which is another plus

  • Used in toyota corolla.best engine oil +++

  • I usually alternate between this and castrol edge depending whats on special.

  • Good deal on full synthetic

  • Can this be mixed with castrol 5-30w stop/start? My car uses about 6l, planing to use this 5l+1l castrol.

    • Im not an expert but I think thats a no no.

      • Then I just wait for next castrol deal.

        • +1

If both oils are full synthetic and of the same grade then you can mix them.

        • This is still a good oil for its price. Full synthetic vs the part synthetic that the stop start castrol magnetec is.

    • +1

I assume your talking about Castrol edge? If so, mix away. I've mixed the leftovers from previous oil changes of different brands and grades without any issues. Changes regularly is way more important IMO than choosing correct grade oil(within reason) or which (fully synthetic)brand oil.

      • the left over is castrol stop start 5w-30 full synthetic, plan to mixed it with this one at next oil change.

        • +1

I doubt there would be any issues. A quick look at both msds's indicate the nulon oil contains only grpIII base oil whereas the magntec contains 30-60 % grp III and the rest is listed as unspecified i.e. probably crap. At the price the nulon is currently at I'd just forget mixing and use the Castrol you currently have as a rust inhibitor on your gardening tools.

    not so goood
i think this is a better deal :

    http://www.supercheapauto.com.au/Product/Penrite-HPR-5-Engin…

    Club $37.79 EACH
    I just bought it…

    • Spending $10 more on an equivalent oil is not so goood

    • Is there any comparison (review article or user experience) between this and the nulon and suggests this one is better?

Otherwise i see them the same.

      • The Penrite possibly the better oil as it has a high zinc pack. No idea how much the nulon one contains. I'm just making a semi calculate guess at best. Both are top oils but if both were the same price I'd go the penrite but their not currently so I'd go the nulon in true ozbargain spirit. Save the extra dollars towards an extra oil change in the future which would outweigh any benefits of using the penrite oil.

    • Different oil.

      5W-40 is cheaper than 5W-30.

      • Usually the opposite to this statement is true I believe

  • Is it better to buy your own and then change it yourself or better to take them to local car mechanic. I am confused.

    • +1

Probably best to take it to the shop if your asking that. But i guess you have to start somewhere… much cheaper in the long run to DIY and use the oil you want instead of the usual semi synth most places use unless you bring your own. In the beginning I just did oil changes between services at the garage.

Oil change is fairly easy. Good skill to learn.
