Reviews arent great are they for these drives…

    • There are bad and good reviews for any hard drives.
My experience has been that they are all pretty much the same regardless of the brand.

  • Code not working for me.

  • No luck for me either :(

  • Code doesn't work.

  • code worked for me

  • Code would not work on my eBay account (used often),
however it did on my dad's account (not used much).
After an Officeworks search, decided to get the Western Digital 2tb elements for $87.30 delivered (good price) mostly because 30 years of computing I've never had any WD drive fail, sorry can't same the same for Seagate, that is worth a few dollars extra :) :)

    • Agreed; every Seagate I've had has failed. I don't think any WDs ever have.

      • I've found Seagate hard drives to be more reliable than the Samsung spinpoint hard drives which Seagate tends to put in theae

LOL they don't even use their own drives?

        • @picklewizard: not sure about the 4tb but the 1tb & 2tb tend to be can't say about the 4tb as I haven't opened one up yet.

  • 4TB Drive has been Ozbargained. Added it to checkout a while ago, got stuck with something at work and buyy the time I went to buy had sold out.

My personal experience with these drives has been terrible. Every single Seagate portable drive I’ve used has completely failed within 18 mths. Wouldn’t touch these with a 10 ft pole, no matter how cheap.

    • My personal experience with these drives has been wonderful. Every single Seagate portable drive I've used has lasted several years and are still going strong. Would buy one of these immediately if I needed another portable drive, no matter how expensive.

        no matter how expensive.

Then why are you even on OzBargain? :p

        • For Seagate portable drive deals :P

Seagate drives tend to not solder the USB - SATA board, so if that board fails you can still recover your data. Just about every other drive is now soldered and/or encrypted, and that board is the most likely part of any portable drive to fail.

I've never had one fail, so to me they're reliable, and even if one did fail there's a large chance I could still recover the data and then use the drive as an internal one. To me, it's worth paying extra to have a more reliable portable drive, since portable drives tend to not be backed up.

I know you were just joking, but thought I'd give a proper response anyway, sorry about that!
