This is a click bait. You probably should have had 25% off for SELLERS ONLY kinda thing. Most people will think that it's 25% for buyers.

eBay 25% off Final Value Fees in Selected Categories - TARGETED

        • +5

Well I don't understand half the titles here but that's my problem and almost impossible for me to know details of each product/service. You click and u read. If you like the deal then you +1 otherwise you move on.

        • +1

Post clearly stated sellers. And I doubt ozbargain has a rule that all item in a bargain listed must be known by every eBay user.

      • Wow, normally with these things I find at least one of my accounts will accept the offer, but all no good. VERY targeted this time…

        • My offer come on a store account. Perhaps targeted to store owners.

    • +3

By saying my title was clickbait you are accusing me of deliberately trying to mislead people. My original title eBay 25% off Final Value Fees in Selected Categories was accurate. In fact it was the actual word for word title of eBay's promo. I think 'most people' that transact on eBay know that final value fees only apply to sellers. Buyers don't pay fees. Sounds like you saw '25% off' and prematurely jumped to an incorrect conclusion.

      • +2

You are completely correct, the title was perfect.

Wait till Sunday if you get the Super Sunday thing, all final value fees become $1. I've been deleting all my listings and relisting under the deal.

    • +4

      Wasn’t that only until NYE?

      • +2

        Yup ended last week

      • -2

I've been getting the deal exactly every Sunday for the last 6 weeks.

        • +1

We haven't had a Sunday in 2018 yet.

The T&Cs for that offer stated until 31st Dec 2017, so we'll have to see if there will be a similar offer in 2018.

eBay 'Final Value Fee' still too much even after 25% OFF

  • Invitation only.

  • +2

EBay still charged me when I accepted the zero final fee offer =.=

    • I did live chat and they resolved it. They even did it for other items by accident.

    • Yep, it's happened to me multiple times too. They will waive the fees if you complain, but it's a PITA having to contact them. Of course most people probably never notice they have been charged for their "fee free listing" ….. more $$$ to ebay.

      • Live chat slightly less PITA than having to call and understand an accent!

        • The thing is with the live chat, they chat with ~5 people simultaneously, thus there are often lengthy delays between replies.

        • @ash2000:

True, but it goes both ways as I'm also Ozbargaining at the same time! ;)

  • 25% off? How adorable!

I never list items unless I have free/no "final valuation fees"….and to ensure I get plenty of those promos each year I have multiple ebay accounts.

Keep in mind ebay now charges 11% and eBay 4.1% (or is it 4.4%) , in any event, sell an item for $200, $30 have simply evaporated.

    • +1

      You mean PayPal? It's 2.6% + 30c

So with 11% from eBay and PayPal fees you lose $27.28 for access to hundreds of millions of sellers worldwide.

Yes you can use Gumtree but I feel the quality of buyer is much worse - constant scammers on there.

I don't like the fees but with the stuff I sell, I need a worldwide audience, and I do quite well so take the good with the bad.

      • Ok, I don't know where I got 4% from…. maybe I looked at a recent low value transaction and didn't take into account the fixed 30 cents.

I feel bad for the chinese sellers I have purchased $1 items from recently. They lose over 40% before even shipping then item.

      • +1

Yes you’ll get better price on eBay. Gumtree full of lowball offers.

      • I think eBay is 10.9% but isn't it plus gst?

Not sure about gst with PayPal

I gave up on selling until last decembers promotions. I'm not relisting again until there are more free fvf or $1max promotions

-ve because it's a rubbish deal. EBay have jacked their fees so high that this barely makes a dent in the fee. Hold onto your items until a real promotion and you'll save money. Use this deal and you'll lose.

    • +4

For the casual ad hoc seller this may be true but as a store owner who makes a living using the platform and pays over $900 a month in final value fees, 25% off is more than a 'dent'. Your neg is unjustified.

      • I'm guessing as a high volume seller you never get these promos anyway?

        • Huh? I posted the deal because I got the promo. They are rare and therefore very welcome.

        • @Claire Naps:

Lol……my bad! I thought it so unlikely that regular sellers actually get anything, it didn't even occur to me to check that you were the OP!

Yes, obstensibly cash in the bank then!

      • Yeah OK, fair enough

Removed the neg but maybe the post should point out its not the best for a casual seller

        • +1

I trust people are smart enough to work out whether a deal is worthwhile based on their individual situations.
