    Most annoying keyboard!!

    • +1 to this. The older MacBook keyboards were much better to type on.

  • Apple confirms all Mac and iOS devices are affected by Meltdown and Spectre bugs.

    The good news is that:

Apple has already released mitigations in iOS 11.2, macOS 10.13.2, and tvOS 11.2 to help defend against Meltdown. Apple Watch is not affected by Meltdown. In the coming days we plan to release mitigations in Safari to help defend against Spectre.

The bad news is that the fixes are likely to have performance impacts of up to 30%.

    • The reality is that performance was impacted between 0 and 2.5% in Safari and had to tangible degradation when using Geekbench, according to Apple’s press release. The current fixes are basically preliminary, later fixes may have 0% performance impact across all operating systems.

The performance impact depends entirely on what workload the computer is running. Some people will be lucky and others not so.

    • IOS and Mac OSX use completely different chip architectures ….. seems a lot of virtualisation technology must be licensed from intel, as it's also supposed to affect ARM based chips.

  • Really good price. They also have the 256gb model for $1279. Might have to pick one up.

hmm, M Series processor, poor keyboard compared with newer MacBook versions, only one port. Heart and wallet say no. Not an MBA replacement

Recently got the Surface book i7 8GB ram for $1600.
That maybe a better option for some.

  • Ew its only 1.2GHz

  • Was thinking about getting this as a second / back up laptop that's good for trips being so portable but the lack of ports really is a turn off. Think I will stick with the Surface Pro for now
