This is my first deal. Be gentle!!

I think this is the Yeelight that everyone seems to like around here on Ozbargain, that's controllable from Google Home. I'm thinking of picking up a few for myself! Not the best price that's been seen, but the best price I could find at the moment.

    • +1

      fix the title, price, etc.

      • -3

OP should read the posting rules first!

      • +8

Guys it’s his first post don’t have to be so rude

        • -4

Thanks for the positive vibes!! I'll be honest, I won't be posting again, tried to be positive about it but found it all very unwelcoming indeed. Going back to Whirlpool where people have amazed me in the last few months with their positive and reasoned discussion.

        • Since when it’s rude to genuinely advise someone to read the posting rules? Check at the revision history, these issues are easily fixed/avoided if someone reads the rules. If the OP doesn’t want to post anything anymore because of these posts here, then…I don’t know what to say

        • -5

@GregFiona: agree. Only told to fix title, etc. and was negged? What's wrong with that? Snowflake.

        • @baobab68:

          going back to whirlpool

          Lol gl with that

    • +1

No it's not .. this is the non RGB version.

      • That's why my title says "White" I guess. But I've seen from further comments that this is not the Google Home compatible one.

        • I'm answering to your comment "I think this is the Yeelight that everyone seems to like around here"

  • +1

    is it free?

    • Fixed the title. Thanks for the friendly intro to Ozbargain. Is there anything else I should fix?

      • +1

didn’t mean to offend you or anyone, but please make sure you read the rules first. Upu only need to post bargains here and not just “the best price you can find at the moment”

        • -2

My mistake. If it had been what I stupidly thought it was, it was an ok bargain. :-) Anyway, going back to being a lurker. I also discovered after posting that DX isn't terribly popular around here either, have their reps been less than honest?

        • +3

@baobab68: No need to apologise, no one asked you to be just a lurker.
Just a little hint: use the search function before you post a deal, that way you can find similar deals and maybe copy the format, check out the seller, see the price and decde if it’s worth posting.

          @GregFiona:

Who's apologising? I got a nasty welcome to the community and so I choose to depart it. I can read the bargains that others post without being a member, that's enough for me.

        • @DisabledUser148325: Since you can still read the comments all I have to say is that you are confusing the OZB deals section with the forums.

        • @GregFiona: poor guy disabled his account, going back to whirpool.

        • @DisabledUser148325: lol- snowflake it is!

  • Do you need the Philips HUE V2.0 Bridge for this to work?

      • I thought they were referring to the electronic control part of the globe, rather than it meaning that it's HUE compatible.

    • TBH, I don't actually know. DX don't give much away in their description, sorry.

  • Is this a new product? Xiaomi Philips yeelight?

  • This doesn't look like a Yeelight… Scam?

    • I posted it as a comment on a couple of other Yeelight threads but those threads seemed to have died so I posted it as a deal so people could see it. I don't actually know what a genuine white Yeelight looks like, I've only been able to find pics of the RGBW ones.

    • +1

Unless there's a new product out, it's not. It's just the xiaomi Philips which is often under $10 and not compatible with google home.

  • It seems like the Google Home compatible one is discontinued then; I really thought this was it.

    • Xiaomi yeelight white looks exactly like the RGB one, maybe the base was a different colour but shape is the same. Also not discontinued.

  • +5

Hey Op, this isn't the normal type of Xiaomi Yeelight. This is a Xiaomi Phillips bulb. They are different, and this won't work the same with the Xiaomi ecosystem.
    Close, but not quite.

The one everyone knows/loves is the white version of this: http://www.dx.com/p/xiaomi-yeelight-e27-9w-600lm-rgb-coloful…

    Also cheaper on Gearbest: https://www.gearbest.com/smart-lighting/pp_644095.html

    • Thank you burkey - I appreciate your considered reply. I've certainly learned a lot about this community on my first post, that's for sure.

      • Don't take a neg as offence, btw :)
Would just hate someone to go 'ooh, that's cheap!' and end up with the wrong product!

    • +2

The ones posted by OP work fine in the Xiaomi Mi App, you just say add device and pick Xiaomi Philips globe… you must be set to Chinese Mainland though, which will mean they won't directly integrate with Google Home / Home Mini (which requires your devices to be in the Singapore region. But if you're using middleware like Home Assistant then they are compatible with that and can be controlled with Google Home / Home Mini through that.

Having said all of that a good price for these is in the order of $10-$11AUD, I'll pass on them at this price.

It looks like it may be cheaper on gearbest

    https://www.gearbest.com/smart-lighting/pp_644095.html $9.99

    • Then this should be deleted

  • Need a bayonet one I think B22 for a lamp. Not sure if an adapter will fit in it.

    • I have the RGB E27 mount and bought a B22 conversion adapter in ebay. Works great.

      • Thinking about this if it clears my small desk lamp. Just worried the tight cover might not fit after the adapter is added in.

  • Anyone know if there are brighter versions of these available?

    • Not these but new version of yeelights should be out this year and according to Xiaomi it is 800lumens which is the same as current hue.

  • Since these apparently are not what I thought they are, is it worth me considering other brands for home automation with my Google Home? I can't afford a Hue system, LiFX seem to be gone, and even the "loved" Yeelights seem to rely on various Xiaomi gateways on the internet which would disable to bulbs if the gateways were ever "gone".

    • Get the original yeelight. When deals come around they are about $10 and $14 respectively for the white and colour ones. You do not need a gateway and works with Google Home flawlessly. I know because I have 3.

      • I will keep an eye out for them, thank you. I'm happy with white and all my bloody light fittings require two globes in each. :-(

  • $12 USD is way too expensive!

Usual special price on this is 8.99 or 9.99 USD. If wanting to buy one, wait till it's $10 USD or cheaper. I'll have a quick look and see if I can find cheaper for Y'all.

    Edit: Here you go! - $8.99 USD -> https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/355343

  • DX have made a mistake with their listing in putting Yeelight in the title. This bulb isn't XiaoMi Yeelight, it's XiaoMi Philips, which are mutually incompatible and use different apps. You can't mix and match them.

    Besides, cheaper here: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/355343
