LG Optimus One (Android 2.2 Froyo) UNLOCKED @Crazy Johns Prepaid Pack for $279

60

LG Optimus one comes with Android Froyo 2.2 and pretty good specs see here http://www.crazyjohns.com.au/lg-optimus-one-p500/

cheapest I could find on the net other than this is $309 from optussolutions.com.au which comes with GPS kit as bonus but contains lot of optus junk which people have reported they cant get rid of and annoying the hell out of them see here http://forums.whirlpool.net.au/archive/1533982 others are around #349 unlocked.

Comparing it with a prepaid pack from Crazy johns unlocked I think is a good saving for anyone interested.

Anywhere I can import a Milestone 2? Please help

I have 1 LG, and based on my previous experience, I will definitely stay clear from this, especially when there is already such a bad review from trust worthy source.

    • This is LG Optimus one and not Optimus, they are two different phones and as far as I have read lots of positive reviews for Optimus One.

      • ops, my bad. Thanks for pointing that out. It seems a good buy for 275 then.

  • They really should have named it Optimus 2 instead of One because a lot of consumers keep associating it with the previous failure of a phone.

    • +2

Once they trumped the Optimus, they really could've gone for Optimus Prime! :p

  • Looks like a good phone for that price. Any reason why this is so much cheaper than other Android phones? Is 600 MHz enough to run all the goodies that come with Android?

    • You just won't be able to play some of the higher end 3d games. Simple 2d games like Angry Birds will play fine though.

    • it seems pretty good low end android 2.2 phone which has enough resolution to run skype and angry bird, comes with n-drive GPS turn by turn navigation.
definitely better than the cheapest froyo phone Huawei IDEOS in comparision of screen resolution, camera and battery.
Also I have read LG sold 1 million of these phones in just first 40 days, and most people have good reviews.

  • Does this phone come with any carrier software such as the Optus ones did? This is the same as the US LG Optimus T isnt it? The reviews on YouTube look good for a mid range phone if it is.

    • It's very easy to get rid of the Optus crapware. Many Whirpoolers have been doing it to the Garmin A50.

      Basically:

      1. Root the phone using Z4Root or any other android rooting app (many of them are free)

      2. Buy the Root Explorer app for $4 AUD.

      3. Delete the Optus crap (but be sure to backup them first before you delete anything important)

  • Sorry, I don't see anywhere on the crazy johns website that says this phone is not locked to their network?

    • To whose network?

    • See the link the first tweet by crazy john rep states that.
@Cybernetical The prepaid bundle is definitely unlocked. All our locked handsets are here: http://goo.gl/RHFnx

  • I called them. They told me the phone is locked to Crazy's network. I prefer to get the unlocked one from mobileciti.com.au @A$305.

  • I actually bought one a couple of days ago from Crazy Johns and it worked with my Vodafone sim card. On the whirlpool forums it has been confirmed to work with an Optus and a Virgin sim as well. The phone had no carrier software, only a few Crazy Johns settings which were easily changed.
