I love Coles. But Coles home delivery is a joke.

    • If the prices and the range were closer I would use it a lot more often.

      • Are delivery prices higher than in store?

        • +14

This is correct, only the catalogue specials are the same price, all else is usually around 10% more. So if u spend $50 ur basically getting like $45 in groceries compared to in store. I don’t see this as free delivery, because prices are not the same,

        • @cloudy:

Oh thanks didn't realise. I never do delivery, just pop in
Maybe I'll just order all specials hah.

        • +2

@cloudy: I didn't know this so thanks for telling. I mostly buy stuff on special anyway so thankfully they don't gauge much out of my pocket!

        • I usually only buy specials each week for home delivery….I have a local store but the delivery comes from 50 klms away!

        • @cloudy: This is ozbargin, you should be shopping on the catalogue specials :P

        • @cloudy: I'd rather support Woolworths who's prices are exactly the same as in store than the sneaky 10% delivery tax Coles puts on

        • @tassieeagle:
          +1 to that

        • @Jetship:

yea, coz they have all the range on sale? lets be honest, i flick thru the catalogues every week, the only gaurantee with catalogue specials are junkfood. Chips, soft drinks. All else, you never know if what you need will be on special on any given week.

I like to look after my health with good eating, so im not a junkfood every week kinda guy :)

        • @cloudy: intersting that Woolies are now advertising that they do not jack the prices: "Did you know that when you shop online with Woolworths you get the same prices that you do in store… delivered right to your door? And that's on everything!"

        • @grover77:

It’s been the case for as long as I remember, maybe someone told them coles jacknup online prices and they r jumping on a marketing opportunity

How so? I use it all the time and I love it. I get the flexi option for 2pm-10pm and they always come around 8-9pm for $4. Getting all heavy shit delivered for $4 is a bargain in my eyes.

      • Must be location based, 2-10pm is always free for me (Melbourne CBD). Didn't realise the prices were inflated though (but I tend to only order to meet bonus spend anyway, I live on top of a Woolworths store).

Just get the Coles MasterCard and you get free delivery, even for the most expensive delivery cost

        • Is that credit or debit card?

        • @thedude23: credit, but there's no need to be scared of credit cards

        • +3

@thedude23: credit, but if you're uncomfortable with credit cards you can get a no annual fee one with a $500 limit and only use it for Coles online and then pay it off straight after

It will literally cost you nothing and you get free delivery, plus some extra flybuys points

        • @tf2manu994: Nice assumption.

        • @jkerrigan: Ok thanks, I will check it out.

    • I use Coles and Woolies delivery regularly. Never had a problem. They both offer a great service. Well worth the slight price increase for the time you save.

Ahh damn, minimum $50 spend for free delivery.

I wanted to order a piece of celery for the lulz.

    • +1

Yeah, its minimum $50 spend anyway, free delivery or not. "The minimum value needed to order online is $50 excluding delivery fees or other discounts."

    • +2

      $50 worth of celery?

from experience, I would suggest only get non-perishable items as they will give you all the products that are close to expiry

    • +1

The Coles minimum expiry date for chicken is 3 days….If you receive any shorter than that date they will refund the total cost! I've never had any probs with expiry dates & I've been ordering online for many years. Also if you request a substitute for an item out of stock just check that it's the same weight as your original order…If not they will refund that item also.

      • it's just a hassle to go through the whole refund process tbh

  • If its your first time ordering online, it's Free Delivery over $100 anyway..

  • shop at smaller supermarkets

    • "Shop at smaller supermarkets"
      And pay much more.

  • If something in my order is out of stock, and makes my order <$50, would they charge me delivery fees?

    • Yes they will. Otherwise they will not deliver the remaining items and simply offer to cancel your order. And Woolworths doesn't do that.
