          @WatchNerd: annoying on AliEx too. Heaps of the item feedback is often some Russian or European person just saying it arrived in so-and-so timeframe. At least it lets you filter by pictures which usually gets at least a couple of actual users.

    I would love to check out the certificate of compliance to Australian standards. Recently i have checked a number of certificates with testing centres and i have had 2 fake ones. One was for cutting discs and one for safety boots. Apparently there is a street in Beijing colloquially called "certificate street". and you can go there and get any fake certificate made.

    You can believe what i am saying is 100% true as i have the certificate to prove it.

    A cheap ladder from someone like Kogan who buys the cheapest rubbish out of China is not a bargain. Buy from a manufacturer who has a name to protect and who builds ladders that exceeds the requirements to provide a safety buffer not just one that is built to pass and where manufacturing quality is reduced afterwards to cut costs.

    Australia is weak on consumer protection, claims about standards mean nothing as our so called consumer watchdogs only get involved after someone has suffered serious injury or death.

    Buy from Bailey, Werner or other big names.

    Think about it for a second, this ladder is $79 delivered. Let's say $20 delivery cost and $15 to get it to Australia in bulk plus some other costs. That's $44. How much does it cost from the factory? $15? $25? How can you build a safe ladder for that price with that many locking mechanisms?

    Testing has shown these types of ladders to be unsafe.

          If you bothered to read the article the testing was performed by trading standards so what does the newspaper have to do with this?

          "Trading Standards has warned that none of the 13 ladders it tested could have withstood normal wear and tear, posing a danger to the user."

    I have one of these types of ladders, not Kogan, but same set up. Good in concept by scary using it as an aframe ladder. If you dont extend it to its highest setting when using as an A Frame then the ladder will want to extend one side on you at time and the velcro strap is the only thing stopping this. Definitely some scary moments when you lean a litle to far to paint in a corner.
    Otherwise compact, bit heavy, but easy to store. Watch your fingers and you are ok.

      Hey can I ask how it is to use it as just a straight ladder? I already have 2 Bailey A frames but I often need a longer straight ladder. If it was good for this I would consider getting it.

        It works pretty well as a straight ladder. Just extend it, and then fold it open. I use mine to get on my roof which is over 3m.

    I can't find anything like it from a reputable manufacturer. Not sure if this means it's inherently dangerous. I'd be happy to pay more if I could get a reputable brand.

    Our gutter heights vary from 2m to 3.3m and internal roof access hatch is only accessible via a straight ladder. I can't store 3 or 4 different ladders, so I need a product like this.

        Thanks, but they aren't really similar when you check the heights. They tend to be a paltry 3 step rise in the platform configuration. Fine if you're painting, but not going to cut it for our gutters and tree pruning.

        Edit: I suppose I could buy two of them AND the plank. I mean I don't mind paying more, but that's getting silly at $600.

          What price do you put on your safety? $600 is pretty cheap to avoid spending the rest of your life in a wheelchair because a cheap ladder fails.
