Frico Maasdam Cheese – Sliced or Shaved – the Deli is free?

    • +1

      YES.

    • +3

      nah sorry, updated post. thanks!!

  • +6

F yeah, I was on Woolworth's yesterday to buy some Nutri grain and I felt in my bones that it'd be cheaper in a few days so I didn't buy it. My bones have been vindicated.

    • +3

Make sure to get the $10 Dymocks voucher with 2 packs!

      • +3

        Nutri-grain has 32% sugar.

        • +5

Perfect, will go well with my purchase of this with the vouchers.

        • +2

Tomato sauce has almost 30% sugar too. Guess how much sugar is in bbq sauce?

        • +2

Duh, it's basically the only reason I can get out of bed in the morning, so I can get my first dose of sugar and caffeine for the day.

        • +4

The ALDI equivalent (probably called Power Grain) is surprisingly horrid.

        • Probably not enough sugar. Their Wheat Biscuits are a great alternative to sugar laden cereals.

        • +1

Ah I'm safe then, I just bought the Coles brand :P

        • +2

          Or does sugar have 32% Nutri-grain? 🤔

        • +2

@orangetrain: I think the fountain one has over 50% sugar from memory :)

        • +1

@ireadtermsofuse: mathsnerd will be able to work it out

        • +1

@orangetrain: I assume you are meant to consume them in different quantities

        • +2

@Wystri Warrick: How does that compare to Nutri-Grain?

        • +1

@PJC: not sure but I'm guessing about the same.

        • +1

@Wystri Warrick: That was my assumption about the ALDI equivalent.

  • +5

Thanks Savas, your efforts are always appreciated!

  • +4

Fine work OP. The Maasdam discount needs amending to 50.00%.

  • +4

Why is coconut water so expensive. It grows on trees

    • Macadamias grow on trees and are the most expensive mut in the world.

Just because something grows on trees does not mean it is cheap.

      • +6

It was merely an expression to do with the saying "money doesn't grow on trees" but in today's uptight world, humour is lost

        • +3

On the same theme, its because the paper board container is produced in a factory by companies known to use uncompetitive practices the money grows in bank balances. Silly Pratt….. 😀

      • +2

Only since they are mass produced. When I was younger you could buy a bucketfull for a couple of dollars. They were 'Bush nuts' then and far cheaper than exotic ones like Wallnuts or cashews.

    • +1

It's actually a good question. My guess is that it's a supply and demand type scenario. Do they even farm coconut trees ?

    • +1

Not in our trees. Imported from thai

Wait until you find out how much saffron costs per kg and its from a plant.

      • +1

Yeah, the per kg price of saffron (at least the pure, unadulterated version) is absolutely mind-bogglingly astounding.
Using the Hoyts Saffron 100mg product from Woolworths, the price is $138,000/kg.
        Mind blowing stuff.

        • +1

Well, yes I think a kg of pure Saffron is more than mind blowing.

  • +6

    Savas misspelt is Avass.

    Avass, Matey.

  • +3

Much appreciated, Savas. Was hoping the entire range of Frico cheese is on sale, apparently not!
But looking forward to try this Maasdam one.

    • +2

Maasdam is pretty damn tasty. I love a slice on a sammich with salami.

Hey guys DO NOT ORDER ONLINE today, Woolworths online is having major tech issues with their website and apparently their payment system is charging cards 3-4 times. Just got off the phone with a rep who said try to process you online orders tomorrow instead. If you head to the contact us page, they have a banner saying they are experiencing tech problems and cant process payments now. Rep also said they MAY offer a free delivery to compensate for the grief - not guaranteed though

    • +1

Maybe this is related to this other issue … I was at BWS online just now, and that too was saying system maintenance underway, and payments with credit cards and gift cards could not be processed. But paypal unaffected.

If it is the payment system, could possibly affect payment in stores too for credit/giftcard payments. Was thinking of heading to a store, but might hold off. Don't want to deal with being multiple-charged or not being able to use giftcard.

For some reason woolies offered me 800 bonus points for buying red bull the same week it's on half price. I'll take it…

    • +2

Yeah. Normally I never get offered points for discounted products, but this week I was offered 300 points for the Bhuja & 1000 for the Tasmanian Camembert. It might pay to check out your rewards offers this week!

Has anyone tried the Bulla ice cream sandwich's? How are they?

    • +1

      They're amazing

      • +1

You are absolutely right. I went and got the vanilla one; these sandwiches are great!

Possibly one of the best in-store ice cream sandiwiches I've tried.

          @MathNerd:

          That just doesn't add up.

    • +1

Have vita-weats EVER been half price? I buy them every week and I don't think I've seen them for more than a dollar off.

      • +1

It use to be until September last year. After that,it was 2 for $5. Now since 2 months its always full price.

  • +3

Thanks Savas, one day your gonna make a little Woman's life so easy.

  • +3

    Sliced or Shaved

I always prefer shaved, feels better on the palate.

Also love looking at the underpaid deli worker and asking them to shave it.

  • +1

So glad I saw that the 750g bacon pack was $6.75 at Woolies. Was just at Coles today and they wanted $9 (on special) for the same pack!! Yay half price big boxes of cereal + dymocks vouchers!

Thanks Savas, great post as always :)

  • +2

Don Footy Franks (Skinless, and maybe others) are also 50% off at Woolies this week, but seemed to be left out of the catalogue. These unfortunately don't go half price very often. Last time was Dec 6, and before that, late September during the footy finals…
