HTC U Ultra $399 from JB Hi-Fi

200

For those who missed out on the Amaysim 20% off HTC U Ultra for $349 on eBay two weeks ago. Here's your chance to get a local stock for just $50 more. I am not sure if it's a dual SIM for this one but the one I've got from Amaysim is a dual SIM model.

Also a genuine HTC U Ultra Case for $28 from Harvey Not Normal

Updated

Also Melkco Premium Leather Case for $24 delivered. I think this one looks much nicer than the Genuine HTC Case listed above.

its aussie stock, so might be just single sim.

  • JB Hifi definitely single sim version
Btw, op, how's your battery going? Can last one day or day and half ?

turn the GPS to device only mode as I found that drains the battery like having a diarrhoea lol, easily lasts a day for average use

    • It's still sealed, I haven't open it yet. :)

No headphone jack = no buy. A shame because I quite liked my HTC M8, and HTC were known for their excellent audio quality.

    • Yeah, never thought it would be a problem for me until I needed to charge it at work but unable to use the headphones. Also need to have two headphones with me (one for HTC and the other for my second phone and laptop).

Other than that, it's quite a good phone.

    • high quality headphones come with the phone though

      • Not as high quality as the headphones I already own. I know it's not a problem/issue for everyone (or even most) but high quality audio was one of the differentiating factors HTC used to have which directly led me to purchase a previous phone of theirs. It's a deal breaker for me personally, just like no SD slot on a lot of phones is.

      • Bluetooth headphones?

  • Well that tanked hard.

great phone and great price.. i have got this since March, dual sim model from HK.
battery life is enough for me. from 7am to around 20% when i arrived home from work around 7pm (i don't play games, just whatsapp, browsing, spotify on bus). i am happy with everything else. big monitor, front physical buttons, bulit quality etc. the USB C headphone sound quality is good enough for me.

Thanks for the mini-review but the battery life seems quite poor based on your light usage.

GSMarena hasn't been reliable for a few phones recently but their consistent approach to testing battery life is solid. They gave a battery rating of 81 hours for this phone which is relatively decent so I would've expected it to last longer than what you've indicated. Is there something particular that's draining the battery?

  • i got the ebay one, and have had it for all of 2 days. Loving it so far, definitely worth the $350. A nice upgrade from my old Nexus 5X

    • Was the eBay one single sim?

        Dual

        • nice!

  • Really nice device especially at the reduced price.
I've taken the official case apart and glued (not perm) just the flap to mine, protects screen, provides grip for single handed use and much slimmer……

  • Can anyone please confirm that is NOT a dual sims model?

    • Went into Carseldine JB HiFi on Northside, none on display, sales assist checked the outside labeling of a new unopened Ultra box, NO mention of dual sim in specs, therefore considered single sim model. Assist did not want to unseal the case. Apx a WEEK AGO I phoned a JB store on southside and was advised they were dual sim. Anyway happy mobiling to those who scored a dual sim Ultra for $348 recently from Amaysim.

      • Thank you, I may have a look tonight

    • All HTC'S sold in Aus are single SIM only

      • +1

HTC are trying to protect their relationship with carriers. Carriers hate dual Sim phones because they eat into their roaming profits

  • Anybody aware if stock available for black or blue for pickup in VIC that people have managed to snatch up? Nothing within 200km according to the website =(

    • +1

I grabbed a blue one last week from the JB on Elizabeth Street in Melbourne. Had two left in stock after I grabbed mine. Not sure if they'd be all gone by now (though probably at this price…)

Edit: just sussed out the JB website, they're back up to $500 now.

      • Cheers!
Turns out the website wasn't accurate (remotely) about stock.
Went to Springvale JB and the guy said they had 6 blue and 4 black left.
Ended up picking one up! Quite an awesome phone for the price… Replaced my G5 falling apart.

  • Heads up guys, this deal has expired now. JB has jacked the price back up to $500.
